Hello all, apologies if there is already a thread but I can’t find one.
May had finally rolled around and the first exam is a mere 2 weeks away. Exam stress has hit our house! It’s feels like everything is about waiting at the moment - waiting for the predicted grades, waiting for the uni offers, waiting for the exams to start, and then the long wait for the results!
This is our youngest DD but the first one in further education so would love to chat to other parents going through this

Religious Studies paper two today was ‘ a peach of a paper’ according to dd.

two more to go; dreading biology paper three.

My child felt it was the paper they liked least of all her subjects taken so far.

A week till paper 3......

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 20/06/2023 06:59

Go mathematicians! Hopefully with a week’s gap after the last pure paper DS will have cracked mechanics and statistics ready for this afternoon. It will be another subject ticked off at least.

blametheparents · 20/06/2023 07:53

Last exam today for DD - Maths Paper 3 (Mechanics and Stats) this afternoon .
Then - the pub!

PacificState · 20/06/2023 08:15

Checking in for the Maths Massive. DS2 has pure + comprehension (which doesn't sound very mathsy) this afternoon. Good luck to all! Surely the end must be in sight for most of us now..

toomuchlaundry · 20/06/2023 08:22

Maths this afternoon, which is the last one for DC

Forestfriendlygarden · 20/06/2023 08:24

Yes, go maths teams!

Feeling a bit better here, as five hours of rain last night finally so slept okay and DD still asleep so that's great as last one tomorrow.

Will hang in here though until everyone is done!.

Orangesandlemons77 · 20/06/2023 08:46

A bit cooler here today thankfully. DS doing some revision with Seneca for the Biology on Wed.

WarningToTheCurious · 20/06/2023 09:04

Last exam here too - maths this afternoon. Will be getting DS up soon as he likes to chill out watching Frasier over breakfast before he heads off to get the bus 🙂

We offered to take him out for dinner tonight but he said he’d be too tired. They have a leavers dinner on Friday night.

PacificState · 20/06/2023 09:15

Lol at Frasier!

I was trying to organise a nice family meal out for my two this weekend (DS2 final exam on Friday, DS1 finishes two weeks of second year uni exams on Friday and then coming home on Saturday) but they both say they think they will be too knackered. Will just have to take ourselves out to the pub instead.

Nugg · 20/06/2023 10:09

Maths Massive Member here too!

Still have biology, chemistry and 2x further maths here this week tho then finally done

Same here... was going to.book s9mething for Friday night but after yearerday's meltdown I am worri3d she won't be in the mood at all!!

AfingeroffudgeisNOTenough · 20/06/2023 10:49

Yes I fear this weekend will be a little bit of an anticlimax for DD and for us after the long, hard slog of this past year. DD has really not had a good year and we have had to parent her and support her in ways we didn’t imagine before the year began. She’s in a good place now, but Friday marks the end of a very long year - not only for her but for DH and I too. I also have my last morning in my job on Friday and that will be a huge sigh of relief to get that over and done with.

DD will likely come home after the exam for a short while but is then going out to a gig with a friend and staying the night at theirs afterwards. We have a wedding to go to on Saturday but DD is missing the service and reception as she’s working, and will just join us for the evening do. Maybe we’ll do a family celebration/let out the breaths we’ve all been holding for months, on Sunday!

PacificState · 20/06/2023 10:52

I hope she's feeling better @Travelban.

I expect the end of exams will feel like a massive anticlimax to lots of our DC. I don't remember my post-A level summer being that enjoyable, honestly - there was a lot to process, and the prospect of properly leaving home for uni sort of overshadowed everything.

PacificState · 20/06/2023 10:53

X-post @AfingeroffudgeisNOTenough Sounds like you deserve a medal for making it through everything in one piece

flotsomandjetsome · 20/06/2023 11:18

Final F maths was last week, last maths is today, last biology tomorrow and last chemistry on Friday - so we are having a ceremonious trip to the recycling bin when each subjects finishes!

I've suggested doing something to celebrate, but to be honest DS just wants to cut loose with his friends on Friday night - and he's desperate to see his GF, so I've said when he's ready we'll do something

JellyBabiesSaveLives · 20/06/2023 12:06

Last exam coming up (Maths). We will be celebrating with a Caterpillar cake, of course 😆. And then I think ds1 plans to hibernate, or something involving computer games and no people.

MarshaBradyo · 20/06/2023 12:10

Ds has last maths too

He looks really happy. Then to friend’s house to celebrate a bit with others

Such a big day, end of school. I remember that feeling

Yes hope they are feeling better.

Good point travelban. Nothing huge planned here. DD going to neighbouring city to see boyfriend day after exams and starts job the day after that.

So anti climax yes and feels very busy still..

WarningToTheCurious · 20/06/2023 14:01

@JellyBabiesSaveLives

Good call on a caterpillar cake - I’ve nicked that idea!

astuz · 20/06/2023 14:05

DD should be in maths now, hope it's going OK. She's so tearful from stress and exhaustion. She was even talking about dumping her boyfriend this morning, mainly because he's always wanting her to text him all the time, and she either forgets or just doesn't want to, especially during exam season, so they've been having massive rows. I've told her to just forget about that until after the exams.

And I'm quite impressed with my own parenting, that she's standing up to his silly demands.

Forestfriendlygarden · 20/06/2023 14:30

Oh dear, well done you. I've just checked here to make sure we know if Biology is in morning or afternoon (OCR). She is a bit vague and I don't want a repeat performance of rush for the bus - and taxi scenario so it is in the morning isn't it?

Aqa bio paper three is a morning exam. I think all exam boards are at he same time.
