Just noticed we were running out of thread!

That's great LDR, I'm glad he's enjoyed it. It's amazing how much they can achieve in a week.

Ursula it's in Higher :)

Thank you for the welcomes.

I cannot get DS to do any UCAS this summer . He has a plan, has done plenty of open days, knows what he wants to study...but his ideas about deadlines and mine do not correlate at all. DH says I should stop stressing and that he's probably just processing things....

TheSecondOfHerName · 18/08/2017 21:26

Welcome to LadyMacnet

Icouldbeknitting · 18/08/2017 22:12

Hello LadyMacnet, I know all about working to a different timetable. I am a planner, I have everything worked out well in advance with a Plan B and C set up. DS is more of a seat of his pants, wait until the last minute and wing it guy. It has been the cause of much friction over the years.

chocolateworshipper · 18/08/2017 22:26

raspberry - yes DD2 will be doing GCSEs in 2019. Let's stick together!

Another welcome to LadyMacnet from me. It won't be long before we need a new thread, but kitten always holds our hands tight when the time comes, so we don't get lost.

PandaG · 18/08/2017 23:06

Welcome Lady M. :)

I have one sitting GCSE next year, at the same time the other sits As. Not looking forward to that stress one bit...I'm doing a degree part-time - I chose next year's modules purely so I would be finished by the time their exams start!

lashingsofgingerbeer · 18/08/2017 23:11

Well done to those that got the grades they wanted and commiserations to those who were expecting better ones. Feeling a bit lonely here as still awaiting results on our return and DD was very anxious & shed a few tears reading her friends results and group chats and trying to second guess what she may have got Confused

kitten do please keep our thread going as really appreciate the sharing and support on here since GCSEs

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/08/2017 23:23

when do you get back Lashings?
I'll get a new thread going in the morning if I can as I'm going to be away for a couple of days. We won't need to use it til we are ready :)

When does everyone start back? dd starts on the 5th. That's just two weeks and a tiny bit Shock

lashingsofgingerbeer · 18/08/2017 23:50

kitten we are back on Monday & DD back to school 5th September too. Think we will all appreciate each other's support through Year 13! Yikes, it will be starting very soon!

UrsulaPandress · 18/08/2017 23:52

Dd is back on 31st August. Very early.

Still reeling to be honest about CatThiefKeith.

Onwards and Upwards.

And keep passing the open windows.

raspberryrippleicecream · 19/08/2017 00:05

Welcome Lady M.

Brilliant chocolate.

I start back on the 1st September (Inset) but DD and DS2 don't start until the 6th.

raspberryrippleicecream · 19/08/2017 00:19

Ursula I've just seen that thread. How sad.

ShanghaiDiva · 19/08/2017 02:16

Ds went back on 10th August and dd is back on 22nd August - looking forward to some peace at home!

TheDrsDocMartens · 19/08/2017 06:35

Panda me too , we need a gcse 2018 thread

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/08/2017 07:38

It's going to be a bit of a shock to the system I think going back!

It's very shocking Ursula.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/08/2017 07:42

new thread for when we are ready.

I apologise for the bland title! I'm rubbish with thread titles.

OP posts:
TheSecondOfHerName · 19/08/2017 08:47

I'll look out for some of you on the Y11 / GCSE 2018 thread.

LoniceraJaponica · 19/08/2017 09:25

“To reiterate, this is a group where we celebrate whatever level of achievement is gained and commiserate and support when things go wonky. No judginess allowed.”

And this is why I like this thread. On other similar threads I felt a bit Hmm because DD doesn’t get straights A*S and has no interest in Oxbridge.

chocolateworshipper · 19/08/2017 09:54

DD doesn't go back until 13th September. I guess because it is a separate college rather than a 6th form of a school.

Thanks for starting the new thread kitten - see you all there when Y13 starts! eek!

TheSecondOfHerName · 19/08/2017 10:07

And this is why I like this thread.

Me too.

Icouldbeknitting · 19/08/2017 10:13

Quick question - am I right in thinking that you cannot get A at AS? Not that it is hard, more that it does not exist. DS has a friend at a different school now who says he has AAA. Now he's a bright lad and on his past performance I would believe him except that I didn't think it was possible.

TheDrsDocMartens · 19/08/2017 10:28

Got the new thread but not this one now Hmm

catslife · 19/08/2017 10:39

Knitting you are correct, a grade A is the highest grade you can obtain at AS.

Littledrummergirl · 19/08/2017 10:55

Thanks Kitten. I've added it to threads I'm watching.
Do we need a thread starting for those of us with dc in both yr11 and 13?

LoniceraJaponica · 19/08/2017 12:28

I think you will need more than a MN thread for support next year Littledrummergirl. Have some Wine

(Thankful I don't have to go through this again. How do parents of large families cope?)
