turn the tap on first, so that you can wash your hands straight away without having to touch the tap

NormaStanleyBelcher · 07/09/2008 14:41

I mean wash straight after dealing with the chicken

TrinityRhino · 07/09/2008 14:52

'm OK - though DD is the shoutiest person on earth

Just sent DH out to supermarket with her and on the list was "a new non-shouty version of DD, or adoption forms"

NormaStanleyBelcher · 07/09/2008 15:06

oh and you can make gravy from the juices and it can turn out nice

TrinityRhino · 07/09/2008 15:10

quit staring at me, I cannpt cope withmaking gravy out of poison!!!

I so feel your pain with th shouty dd thing

gecko is the loudest voice we have at the mo and she never shuts up

lulumama · 07/09/2008 15:11

can you use disposable gloves to cope with handling the chicken?

SoupDragon · 07/09/2008 15:12

Go on, shove your hand up it's bum

SoupDragon · 07/09/2008 15:13

AAAGGGHHHHH! its not it's!! [shudder]

SoupDragon · 07/09/2008 15:14

The juices aren't poison. Unless you consider the chicken itself to also be poison. If you wouldn't eat gravy from the juices, you really shouldn't be eating the chicken at all.

NormaStanleyBelcher · 07/09/2008 15:15

She has eaten gravy made from the juices, when I made roast chicken at her house.

The gravy was quite nice I thought

lulumama · 07/09/2008 15:16

use chicken bisto powder if you can;t bear to make gravy from the juices.

or i mix the juices with some bisto to make it a bit richer

lulumama · 07/09/2008 15:17
NormaStanleyBelcher · 07/09/2008 15:18

helllooooo.

NormaStanleyBelcher · 07/09/2008 15:18

I know that TR won't make gravy from the juices

To be honest I think she is doing quite well just dealing with the chicken at all.

TrinityRhino · 07/09/2008 15:22

thankyou norma, I'm on my own with just the kids too

noone holding my hand

I have eaten gravy from poison juices when norma made it but I cant do it myself

dont trust myself to make it not poison

chicken is poison, which is why I can't touch anything when I have touched it and dont want to touch it

you have to nuke it and then eat it really quickly for it to be ok

and the juices are only not poison when norma has worked her magic

OP posts:
lulumama · 07/09/2008 15:24

once it is cooked, it is not poison, when it is raw, tehre is a small chance of posioning, or if it is not cooked through.,

as long as it is well cooked and you follow basic good hygiene, you will be fine

once it is cooked, the juices are cooked and not poisonous

TrinityRhino · 07/09/2008 15:26

I actually KNOW all of that lulmam and believe it too

BUT the panic, anziety voices in my head dont listne to rationale

OP posts:
lulumama · 07/09/2008 15:27

have you had any help with that?> anxiety around food and cooking must really interfere with daily life . poor you.

TrinityRhino · 07/09/2008 15:29

oh god yes it does

I am currently waiting to see my wonderful psychologist that made me the RECOVERING emetophobe I am today

OP posts:
lulumama · 07/09/2008 15:42

fantastic to conquer emetophobia, i bet you will be able to get to grips with raw chicken very soon !

lucysmam · 07/09/2008 16:16
