What other cottage cheese is most like Longley Farm?

Longley Farm is the best!

But it’s quite hard to find in the South, and is expensive. (Much cheaper when I buy it in Yorkshire!)

Which alternative is as good or nearly as good? Lidl and Tesco are definitely not!

I haven't found anything the same consistency but I really love a brand called Piatnica, the curds are more defined and taste is lovely and creamy but a looser consistency than Longley Farm.

I was going to suggest Piatnica. I eat it most mornings for breakfast.

RedRiverShore6 · 14/01/2026 21:40

They recently started selling it in Waitrose and M&S

None, in my opinion!

This is the only correct answer

only one I will eat and the full fat version only too! Our local market stall in Stockport sells if for £1.50. But I willingly pay the price at Sainsburys if I can’t get there.
Home bargains stocked it for years but now only sell Grahams brand which is no where near as good :(

Wave 👋 to a fellow Stopfordian 💖 (and LF cottage cheese aficionado 😍)

Lidl own brand is delicious, I can’t remember the name of the brand now

Milbona, and agree it’s delicious, £1.39 for 300g in Devon. I’ve never tried the Longley farm one, it’s £1.80 for 250g here.

@CheddarCheeseAndCrispSandwich hello!

Changedforsafety · 14/01/2026 22:14

@Cheeseaandchillibread controversial ! 😊

Well this is fascinating. I was thinking the other day how cottage cheese has dropped off the small shops staple foods, when I wanted some for a pie. But I saw a pot of Longley Farm cottage cheese tonight in my local Londis. Never heard of it before and now I’m wishing I’d bagged it!

@PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich that’s how I would describe it usually! I really hope I’ve got an iffy batch .

I read those two last words as something completely different. I clearly do to many word puzzles.

Anyone, ANYONE in Wales know where I can buy this? There is nothing like it, I don't think other cottage cheeses should even be allowed the name, they just taste like disappointment in comparison. I have to keep myself going by gorging on it every time I'm back in Yorkshire.

Not sure I should tell you as I want to keep it all for me 😀, but recently bought in M&S Queen Street in the Diff

@Crikeyalmighty definitely ! This is important life changing stuff ! I buy 4 pots a week .

So do I

It's a social media thing, not LF specifically but cottage cheese in general. Huge resurgence in cooking with it as a high protein, low cal ingredient.

Roundthebend45 · 15/01/2026 08:00

Ocado have it - I’m in SE London. I was substituted some cream with longley farm cream over Christmas and hadn’t realised they sold the brand! Very excited tk get some cottage cheese on my next shop!

You haven't inadvertently picked up the low fat version have upu?

That was my first thought. Low fat LF is utterly pointless in my opinion.

Liar liar pants on fire.🔥

cottage cheese (on rivita) is 70's diet food. I don't know anyone that eats it these days.

wh tv sr ed yo uh as ll wearing it? His are you preparing/esting it to eat it by choice

it shouldn't be allowed to tarnish the title of 'cheese'.

thedevilinablackdress · 15/01/2026 10:29

Not RTFT but has anyone mentioned Yester Farm Dairies? 😍

Mamamia35 · 16/01/2026 09:01

Yes I mentioned Yester.
I’ve noticed way more cottage cheese options via Sainsbury online including All Things Cottage Cheese, which is more expensive but funnily enough manufactured by Yester Dairies.

schmalex · 16/01/2026 09:07

Longley Farm is the ultimate cottage cheese and no other can compare.
I get big tubs from Ocado, or small ones from Morrisons.

Bjorkdidit · 16/01/2026 09:25

Well if there was ever a reason to move to Yorkshire, here we have it. It's in just about every shop here. Just this week I've seen it in M&S and Sainsburys and I think it's in pretty much every supermarket although Home Bargains seem to have stopped selling it.

I'm not too far away from Longley Farm itself, which is in prime hill walking country so every few weeks I do a click and collect order and pick it up when I'm walking in the area (it lasts at least 2/3 weeks after the use by date).

Those big tubs that are £3.35 in Ocado are only £2.40 direct from the farm, and they used to be a lot cheaper than that a few months ago.

Bjorkdidit · 16/01/2026 09:26

They also have the big tubs in Booths, not that it will help people in Not The North.

OvernightBloats · 16/01/2026 09:34

Lots of choice of cottage cheese available in Polish (& Eastern European) food shops. Cottage cheese is used a lot in eastern European cuisine. Prices are sometimes cheaper than mainstream supermarkets but that is slowly changing now that supermarkets are stocking more varied food.

Didn't realise how many varieties of cottage cheese there are until I went into a Polish shop (and translated some of the labels!).
