What other cottage cheese is most like Longley Farm?

Longley Farm is the best!

But it’s quite hard to find in the South, and is expensive. (Much cheaper when I buy it in Yorkshire!)

Which alternative is as good or nearly as good? Lidl and Tesco are definitely not!

Anyone, ANYONE in Wales know where I can buy this? There is nothing like it, I don't think other cottage cheeses should even be allowed the name, they just taste like disappointment in comparison. I have to keep myself going by gorging on it every time I'm back in Yorkshire.

I get it from the milkman. Probably completely useless info to you unless you live within a small radius of me! But it can be got this side of the border.

OK, I will look out for Yester and give it a try, or try different shops to cover the patchy supply in my local S London Iceland or…. Just move to Yorkshire.

When I visit friends in W Yorks and Lancs I gaze at the chiller cabinets in those wonderful indoor food markets, bursting with LF cottage cheese, cream cheese, yogurts…

Do you have a farm shop near you? They often sell it.

I am in gritty S London.

OK, not the South in the context of the UK, but sooo many miles S in relation to Longley Farm in Yorkshire

We don’t have farm shops and I have never seen it in our big supermarkets. However, I see a Home Bargains will soon open in a nearby town centre!

Morrisons often have it.

also my mum bought a massive tub from an Eastern European shop and it was gorgeous

Ok. Need talking down I think . I bought 4 x tubs of LF at weekend, I think it’s changed. Paler , thinner and not as creamy . Has anyone else noticed this or do I have a duff batch ? Gutted………

Interesting you say that- I thought the same on the last 4 tubs I had too

Poundland sell it in Swansea if you still have one locally

No, I had some last night and it wasn't at all thin. It's so thick it's almost dry, just the same as it's always been.

Changedforsafety · 14/01/2026 20:12

@Ebok1990 no just the normal . It’s definitely not the same :(

Changedforsafety · 14/01/2026 20:13

@PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich that’s how I would describe it usually! I really hope I’ve got an iffy batch .

None, in my opinion!

Agree, it is in a class of its own as the saying goes, I’m also in the south and can find it in a few places

BlueOceanFish · 14/01/2026 20:32

It’s the best and I hope the suggestion that it’s changed is not correct! If they have changed it surely we can do a MN socials protest to get them to change it back!

XiCi · 14/01/2026 20:35

Longley farm was the first cottage cheese i tried and I thought they all tasted like that. Sadly not. Every other cottage cheese ive tried has been disgusting and ended up in the bin. Thankfully a new deli has opened in my local high St that stocks it.

Changedforsafety · 14/01/2026 20:37

I’ve messaged them ! That’s how key this is ! 🤣🙏🏻

Way to go - do it for mumsnetters- I eat a pot or at least half a pot every day!!

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 14/01/2026 20:41

Don't panic, I'm sure they haven't changed the recipe. I bought mine this week and it's got a long date on it so it must have been produced recently. It must have been a bad match you got. I can only imagine your disappointment though, I'd be gutted if I got a wet one! Everything LF makes is usually perfect. Their butter is ridiculously delicious.

Misbella · 14/01/2026 20:52

biggestcatmom · 05/01/2026 22:30

Lidl own brand is delicious, I can’t remember the name of the brand now

Milbona the full fat one !

wheresmyshoe · 14/01/2026 20:58

I pay £2.30 for the narrow pot at my local Spar, I know it’s expensive but nothing comes close to it. If I’m feeling fancy I go to Nisa in the next village and get the one with chives or with pineapple.

Changedforsafety · 14/01/2026 21:01

@Crikeyalmighty definitely ! This is important life changing stuff ! I buy 4 pots a week .

bigboykitty · 14/01/2026 21:34

The Lidl one is the only one that's edible if there's no LF

Cheeseaandchillibread · 14/01/2026 21:39

I'll probably be drummed off MN, but I grew up with LF and find it too thick and cloying, actually prefer the thinner ones. Our M&S only stocks LF, no own brand I had assumed that was the case in all their stores.
