Seventies Christmas

I'm so into doing a seventies Christmas this year. Cheese and pineapple hedgehog obviously, prawn cocktails, advocaat. What would be on your seventies Christmas menu?

Mini sausages on sticks, mini sausage rolls, cheese and silver skin onions on sticks, twiglets!

Vol au Vents, think they had some sort of tinned chicken in white sauce put in them, devilled eggs.

Those candied orange and lemon slices laid out in a wheel in a flat box.

A swiss roll covered in chocolate with bits of plastic holly and a robin stuck in.

Chocolate Angel Delight with grated mint Aero on top.

Home-made mince pies & shortbread.

Sausage rolls.

Babycham & Harveys Bristol Cream sherry.

Petits fours.

Prawn ring from Iceland.
Trifle

Oh I miss Vol au Vents! I had forgotten about that strange chicken filling, but now I want it. Christmas cake with rock hard royal icing in peaks? We always had dates too, and Turkish delight.

I'm tempted to do a seventies buffet at Christmas now!

Black forest gateau.

Really sticky dates and figs in a box with the little plastic fork to pick them up

Buy a can of M&S Chicken in White wine sauce and some frozen vol au vent cases and you'll be in the zone 😁

Orange juice as an alternative to prawn cocktails.
After Eight mints and filter coffee to finish off.

Of course the ceilings should be decorated with tissue paper or tin foil garlands for the correct ambience.

Have The Good Life Christmas special playing in the background. 😊

No prawns though, don't remember them at all and thought they didn't take off til the 90s.....but they are delicious so depends on how strict you want to be.

Make sure the decor is right. Lots of those fold out foil chain things. Coloured lights on the tree. Sounds brilliant.

Don’t forget the Blue Peter advent crown - coat hangers covered with fireproof tinsel and a candle in each corner!
