For me it has to be raisins or sultanas in savoury dishes or any containing a sauce.

Raisins in flapjack - Yes, please.
Raisins in apple crumble or fruit stew - No thanks
Raisins in curry or morrocan stew - Absolutely not.

Another one is banana milkshake or banana custard.
Banana with rice cakes or on its own before a run - Yes.
Banana in banana cake - definitely Yes.
For some.reason, I just don't like it when it's whizzed with vanilla ice cream and why ruin a steaming pot of luscious custard with banana?

I agree about sausages too - grilled ✅ casserole 🤮 makes them all slimy.

Gundogday · 04/05/2025 08:30

As soon as I read your title, I thought raisins. Coleslaw is another foodstuff that’s ruined by them.

Also cheese scones. Love cheese ‘raw’, in pittas, lasagne etc but morning scones or cheese straws.

Bfmamma · 04/05/2025 08:40

Bananas - yum
Banana flavour - yuk
Strawberries - yuk

Mushrooms. I only like fried. I can't stand them in anything else and will even pick them out of a Pot Noodle.

Snap! I came to post this 😂

MissAnthr0pe · 04/05/2025 08:41

Raisins in flapjacks, granola, cake - yes
Raisins in curries, tagines or any savoury food - no

minerva7 · 04/05/2025 08:52

Forgot strawberries. Fresh… I love em.
Anything strawberry flavoured? 🤮

BobbyBiscuits · 04/05/2025 08:55

Pineapple on its own is one of my favourite fruits. But on pizza or in savory dishes? Noooo!!!

I hate raw tomatoes but can eat tomato sauce or ketchup.

I don't really like cheese on its own, just on bread or crackers, or in a sandwich. But I do like it melted on pizza and I love raclette.

Having preferences isn't being fussy though. Surely you must have foods that you don't like or think are weird to eat together?

Nope.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 04/05/2025 09:42

Biscoff spread - off the spoon in the middle of the kitchen at three in the morning - absolutely.

On anything else ever - nope.

Chocaholic1216 · 04/05/2025 09:57

i love tinned tuna warm in something like a tuna melt panini or a pasta bake but I hate it cold in something like a tuna mayo sandwich. My husband is the opposite and loves it in a sandwich or cold on a baked potato but he won’t go near it if it has been warmed up

I'm the same as your DH, warm tuna is 👎 from me but love it cold.

Oblomov25 · 04/05/2025 10:22

Raisins

Chocolate cake... No
Black forest gateau... Yes

[Confused]

lovegoodlovegood · 04/05/2025 11:03

Fruit is good
fruit in cheese or chocolate absolutely not

intrepidpanda · 04/05/2025 11:14

Prawns do not belong in a fish pie
Not never, they are not fish.

Annoying as anywhere doing a top end one seem to think prawns somehow maker it posher.

MeltonInTheHeat · 04/05/2025 11:18

Thems fighting words @intrepidpanda

Prawns in fish pie Good.

[gavel]

I don't like salmon in fish pies though. Too rich for my blood.

BeNiceWhenItsFinished · 04/05/2025 11:56

Cherries and bananas. Love them as is, when eaten as fresh fruit. As an ingredient in any kind of dish or as a flavouring - ugh. Shudders. I can't even bear to eat a banana that's been cut up. The slippery cut surface...🤑

LetMeGoogleThat · 04/05/2025 12:29

Fruit in cheese, fruit as accompaniment is fine. And Christmas is the worst with cranberries in any cheese 🤮

xsquared · 04/05/2025 12:33

mambojambodothetango · 04/05/2025 09:40

Nope.

Well, plenty of us do as demonstrated on this thread.

Almonds - love eating a whole Almond but anything else, e g flaked, marzipan, even the smell of shampoo etc makes me retch.

Cherries - love fresh cherries, hate any cherry flavoured things as it all tasted of almond to me.

As you can imagine, a Cherry Bakewell is absolute food hell for me.

Can someone explain this- why do cherry flavoured things taste of almond?! I very much agree!
I can eat marzipan in very small amounts if it’s in a fruit cake(usually in situations where it’s not polite to pick it out).
Wrapped round a battenburg? Yuk.
Amaretto or anything almond flavoured? Nope.
Raw, smoked, honey roast almonds? Fine by me.

TheodoraCrumpet · 04/05/2025 14:20

Olives. I adore picking at dishes of olives in a restaurant, but if say a pizza or pasta dish has them in, well, that's simply repellent.
DH is the same, but the other way around. Weirdo.

I think it's the cyanide in the cherry pips that give it the almond flavour. 🤓

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/05/2025 17:05

JoyousEagle · 04/05/2025 17:51

I clicked on this thread to say raisins/sultanas in savoury foods.

I also don’t like mint in chocolate.

Sure. I'm just answering the question the OP asked.
