Kedgeree
Trifle made from a Birds Trifle Box

Sorry, no starter. That's all I can remember- mainly because they were both difficult dishes to carry home across a field! And the 1970s sheer ridiculousness that using a Birds Trifle Box was acceptable for home economics!

CaptainFuture · 28/02/2025 21:04

Lentil and bacon soup
Lasagne
Random chocolate trifle

Luddite26 · 28/02/2025 21:05

An LP holder made from plastic

Somehow I never did one lesson of home economics and did DT subjects instead. I changed schools and missed a lot of school at times.

I still have my recipe book I made at secondary school. I still make March Pork from it. No starters in it but we made cheese cake, fruit tart, lemon curd, quiche Lorraine, and Queen of Puddings.

Pizza that more closely resembled a large scone with metallic tomato purée and orange cheddar on top (would make an Italian curse me down through the generations). Cottage pie with that rank frozen mince than comes in big turgid logs and makes everything smell like dogfood and a very greasy carrot cake (with margarine cream icing). Yum!

The ingredients were so nasty and the overall hygiene so boggin that I formed an understanding with a classmate that if he did the dishes before AND after ‘we’ cooked he could eat both lots of whatever ‘we’ made. Was also a great life lesson (get some fella to do all the washing up).

Iudncuewbccgrcb · 28/02/2025 21:29

I actually did food tech as a GCSE but that is all I can recall making.
