Shepherds pie - sides?

What sides would you serve with a shepherds pie?
the mince itself I tend to put carrot, onion, peas and sometimes mushrooms in.

I usually do broccoli or a leafy green on the side. I put carrot, onion and peas in the filling too but I doubt it comes to 2 portions of veg which is what I like to put with dinner as a minimum as it’s hard to get them all in otherwise.

Green beans , broccoli or cabbage.

Steamed broccoli and cauliflower or romanesco.

Broccoli and Yorkshire puddings.
I used to have it with spaghetti hoops ❤️

Brocolli and/or some other green veg.
And I'd rather have peas with it than in it.

Broccoli or green beans, extra gravy. Cheese and leeks on the mash.

Those saying peas do you not have peas in it?!

Given the veg you add, I'd say roast potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower. I'd also put grated extra mature cheddar and thick tomato slices on the top before putting the shepherd's pie in the oven.

Yorkshire puddings and gravy or my husband likes it with beans

Green leafy veg (cabbage / kale / broccoli etc) plus peas or green beans .

I would never put peas in the pie.

More vegetables are definitely needed.

Green veg. Or beetroot / red cabbage.

I love garlicky greens (like the ones in this link here). Spring greens, kales and cabbage are all delicious. I think a side is needed to give a textural contrast.

If it's a proper shepherd's pie made with lamb I think we usually have peas and sometimes maybe green beans too. When we have cottage pie, we put peas on the plate underneath the pie, and have baked beans at the side.

Red cabbage or beetroot and crusty bread with butter

I don’t add peas to mine, so I serve peas as a side, then also broccoli or red cabbage.

The phrase "sides" has just made me shudder.

I have salad with mine

I do it with broccoli and sometimes a Yorkshire pudding or a slice of buttered bread to mop up the gravy.

Greens of any sort. Cabbage, spinach, broccoli etc. DH likes beans 🤮

I put loads of veg inside of mine, but I do still like to serve it with broccoli or cabbage

dh likes his with baked beans and sliced bread but I’m not a huge fan of that combo.

if dc had the choice he would want his with chips or Yorkshire pudding.

Tinned peas...But roast parsnips or roast butternut squash are good too, and Brussels sprouts in season.

Any green veg and carrots. Wouldn't do parsnips as too beige with the shepherds pie.
I see shepherds pie as an easy meal so generally we have it with frozen peas for speed.
