Just that - what do you make when your throat is sore from coughing and you're low on energy?
I've been on porridge and soup for a week....Still no appetite, which is deeply unlike me.

Soup. As I feel better, I dip thickly buttered soft brown bread into it.

BigDahliaFan · 26/05/2024 11:27

Heinz tomato soup
M&S macaroni cheese
white rice and Parmesan cheese
toast and marmite.

SilverHairedCat · 26/05/2024 11:32

Tinned peaches.
Wotsits.
Soups of any variety with fresh crusty bread you can soak so you can manage the crusty bit.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 26/05/2024 11:33

Heinz lentil soup and cheese sarnies.

LIZS · 26/05/2024 11:34

Chicken noodle soup

LadyJaneEarlGreyTea · 26/05/2024 11:35

M&S Yumyums or scrambled egg

WhatWouldHopperDo · 26/05/2024 11:35

Ramen noodles. The saltier the better.

Heinz cream if tomato soup with cheese on toast.

Tinned spaghetti on toast.

Marmalade3 · 26/05/2024 11:37

Jelly and icecream/tinned fruit/trifle. Orange juice. Always crave these when i'm ill with a cold/flu etc.

Giggorata · 26/05/2024 11:38

starting from death's door to quite ill:

live yogurt
a mild pale soup, like chicken, mushroom or leek and potato
trifle or jelly and custard
Scrambled egg
macaroni cheese

Fraaahnces · 26/05/2024 11:38

Phõ - my immune system’s happy place. Failing that, Tom Yum Goong or Tom Kha Gai.

Lilacdew · 26/05/2024 11:40

Home made soup - either chicken soup with barley or egg noodles or green veg soup with edamame, canellini beans and pesto.

And more cups of tea than the WI served during WW2.

PossumintheHouse · 26/05/2024 11:41

Something stodgy and unhealthy such as
Pasta with butter, parmesan, salt and pepper
Chips, cheese and beans
Chips, cheese and gravy

Washed down with flat Lucozade or flat coke, or a glass of ice cold milk.

LaWench · 26/05/2024 11:42

Tomato soup with cheese sandwiches dipped in.

DrJonesIpresume · 26/05/2024 11:43

Cheese on toast. Marmite on toast. Scrambled egg on toast.

Toast basically, with whatever. Or just toast and butter.

CocoapuffPuff · 26/05/2024 12:10

Thanks. Tinned spaghetti sounds perfect. I'm normally a huge toast fan but it's too crumbly for my coughy lungs and throat right now. I've just sent DH out for tins of spaghetti and macaroni cheese.

Marmite on granary toast. Very mild with lots of butter if your throats been sore. I'm often less well when I'm low on B vitamins so it's a medicinal meal.

Nigellasstickytoffeepudding · 26/05/2024 12:12

Macaroni cheese
Miso soup from a packet with cabbage and noodles and packet ham

goldenretrievermum5 · 26/05/2024 12:13

Pastina! Also nicknamed Italian penicillin for being the cure of all sickness in our house..

Stellete pasta (little stars)
Chicken broth
Parmesan
Finely chopped, sautéed veggies like carrots, onion, celery etc

Quick, easy heaven in a bowl!

Rainbowshit · 26/05/2024 12:16

Egg in a cup

GiveYourHeadAWobble · 26/05/2024 12:17

Some sort of noodle soup with garlic and ginger

Soluckyinlove · 26/05/2024 12:19

I either make a fish pie pie, cod in plenty of creamy sauce topped with soft mashed potato OR a creamy soup.

WeightoftheWorld · 26/05/2024 12:19

Curry! Flushes out the sinuses...!

Soluckyinlove · 26/05/2024 12:22

If it's my husband who is ill, I "feed" him hot toddies, particularly before bed. Honey, fresh lemon juice, boiling water and a good glug of whisky.

Arlanymor · 26/05/2024 12:23

Heinz tomato soup and cheese on toast
Dippy egg/scrambled egg with/on toast
Roast tomatoes and garlic on toast
Broad bacons and lardons on toast

So basically toast plus whatever else I can muster/manage! Feel better soon!

CocoapuffPuff · 26/05/2024 12:28

Hot toddy sounds good, might help me sleep.
