queen green olives

teeny tiny blinis with sour cream and chives

S1ur · 12/03/2008 19:19

at home or out?

VanillaPumpkin · 12/03/2008 19:20

Tortillas with dip made from cream cheese and sweet chili sauce or Tescos (not Sainsbury's) caramalised onion homous. Kettle chips (red ones or salt and pepper ones), carrot and cucumber sticks, olives.
I eat anything though.

VanillaPumpkin · 12/03/2008 19:21

Oh I missed the bit 'as a starter' .

marinated artichokes from a jar.
would make handbag horribly oily, though.

MarsLady · 12/03/2008 19:23

I'd've thought the wine would be enough! lol

My sister does something with goats cheese on french bread whacked under the grill and then balsamic vinegar drizzled on. Tis yummy and a bit more startery.
Yuk to the Ritz crackers though. They would be in my handbag.

S1ur · 12/03/2008 19:25

Strawberries, cheeses (to line stomach )

sagacious · 12/03/2008 19:25

Walkers sensations (the big bags)
Salsa (but must be fresh)

Anything else interferes with the wine

sagacious · 12/03/2008 19:27

Ah on reading OP it depends on what shes cooking as main

Bruschetta is good/easy/boring

Whizzz · 12/03/2008 19:28

marinated olives
chips & dips

(I'd stuff any choc in my handbag for later)

WanderingTrolley · 12/03/2008 19:29

picky bits need to be one-handed food (wine glass in t'other) and blend into the floor if there is a lot of wine

Kathy - you put one of these in your handbag, it's a sort of liner for when you are at a foodie pal's. Some people use them to store food for real, apparently [weirdies]

Carmenere · 12/03/2008 19:33

Tapas - Anchovies in vinegar (boquerones en vinagre), chorizo (preferably the fresh stuff, sliced and fried) and little squares of tortilla con patate(spanish omlette). Serve with a Spanish variation on bruschetta which is country bread(baguette will do) grilled, rubbed with garlic and then rubbed with half of a ripe tomato and sprinkled with sea salt.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 12/03/2008 19:34

Wandering Trolley!

Actually I think I already have one in my handbag. I never go anywhere without a ziplock bag in case someone is sick.

Hulababy · 12/03/2008 19:44
