I always seem to have left over coleslaw go bad after buying it to top jacket potatoes with.

What do you use coleslaw for?

I like it with pizza. Or in a cheese sandwich. Mmmmm.

Make it all the time and use different dressings to fit - garam masala with something Indian eg or herbs and garlic with something Italian, Thai, Indian, Greek, Mexican etc etc. Mostly because carrots and cabbage and slaw vegetables keep for ages and I love my food processor 😍

Ham and coleslaw sandwich is the business. Don't really like ham sandwiches otherwise actually.

It is also really good with chips. We often have it as a side when we have breaded fish or burgers.

What food processor do you have?

We bought a fairly pricey Kenwood one after seeing good Amazon reviews but I regret it everyday 😭

We have it as a side when having grilled meat/chicken and chips/wedges. Although one of my favourite meals is Chicken Kyiv, buttered new potatoes and coleslaw.
We always have it when having that classic MN meal…..the picky tea.

Hibernatalie · 28/10/2023 16:22

With southern fried chicken or ribs with chips

mrsanflowerpot · 28/10/2023 16:22

With chicken wings, salad and chips
In ham sandwiches
With any salad
With any cold meats

BigBoysDontCry · 28/10/2023 16:23

Oh and I forgot how lovely it is with toasted sourdough and pate, with some sliced tomato, sea salt and black pepper if available. And yes, burgers, pizza, cold meats..

Now struggling to think what I wouldn't have it with 😁

loseweightpleasegod · 28/10/2023 16:25

Just had half piri piri chicken from m and s, sweet potato fries, salad, garlic bread and deli coleslaw. So much better and cheaper than Nandos.

Floooooof · 28/10/2023 16:28

With salad, new potatoes and quiche 😋

It's a Magimix 4200XL Compact Food Processor @Jelllytot. I specifically bought it because of the wide aperture to fit large bits of cabbage etc!! You can almost lay a whole carrot on its side! I sent a few other processors back as on opening they weren't big enough. Dh uses a hand grater or a knife but it gives me arm ache for any length of time! Grin

tobee · 28/10/2023 16:29

My absolute favourite is celeriac remoulade

shardash · 28/10/2023 16:29

I tend not to buy pots of coleslaw, I make however much we need instead. A white cabbage is pretty cheap and lasts forever in one of those Lakeland green bags, and you just need a few thin slices of that, some onion, and carrot done with a julienne slicer. Add a blob of mayo and away you go. I sometimes add other things like celery and chives as well. You can literally make however much or little you need. Once you've got used to homemade, you won't want to go back to the bought stuff.

Oh thank you, I shall look into it.
Life is too short for hand grating!!!

I have it as a side with lasagne or pasta bake

poetryandwine · 28/10/2023 16:30

Coleslaw is delicious with BBQ beef, pork, chicken or fish. But homemade is best.

Pinksmyfavoritecolour · 28/10/2023 16:32

With a cold sausage roll, has to be cold!
Also with ham in a sandwich.

TakeMe2Insanity · 28/10/2023 16:32

Oh gosh, coleslaw has been this pregnancy’s first trimester craving. There wasn’t anything I didn’t eat it with! Firm favourites are still roast chicken and coleslaw, in a sandwich or just plain!

Spudlover · 28/10/2023 16:33

With pulled pork and corn on the cob!

HappiDaze · 28/10/2023 16:33

I just chop some white cabbage thinly and add mayo abd vinegar. Can't be pfaffed with the carrots but it tastes good enough to me

Aphotoaday · 28/10/2023 16:34

On a spoon for me 😊

ButtonDownBev · 28/10/2023 16:38

We have it all the time with hot smoked salmon fillets (love the Lidl lemon and herb or chilli version) as the salmon is ready cooked. We also have salad with that, obviously coleslaw, sometimes boiled potatoes with butter, oven roasted broccoli etc. Super quick dinner!

Or with quiche and salad.

Oven cooked southern fried chicken fillets in a tortilla wrap with coleslaw and salad.

Myonlysunshine123 · 28/10/2023 16:38

With pulled pork, starving now

TerfTalking · 28/10/2023 16:39

I can't eat pizza without coleslaw.

It's like salt and vinegar on fish and chips. Mandatory.

Cheese and coleslaw sandwich!

Yes yes yes!!!!! 😁
The sandwich of the gods.
