I know you said enjoy but I’ll throw in conger eel (my father was a fisherman). So pleased I’ll never have to eat that again.

WhatAPalaverer · 20/09/2023 20:01

Bernard matthews reformed turkey meat- probably because my mother didn’t believe in salt so it was the only thing that actually tasted of something.

BarrelOfOtters · 20/09/2023 20:03

Find us crispy pancakes…haven’t tried them again but I expect the6 aren’t the culinary triumph I thought they were.

vienetta, tried it last Christmas. It wasn’t nice.

CloseYourMouthLynn · 20/09/2023 20:11

Corn beef fritters! I loved them as a kid. Would never touch them now, the grease!

Soberfutures · 20/09/2023 20:11

Oh god some of the things on here that are hated I love and still buy 😄

Paste sandwiches. Micro chips. Fish in bag (cod in butter sauce/parsley sauce) spam. Pickled onions. Corned beef. Primula spread

Haha. I promise I am a good cook and cook lots of fresh foods and vegetables. Can't think of much I won't eat from childhood except liver and onions or bananas

IWasFunBeforeMum · 20/09/2023 20:12

The weird cheap spread for sandwiches. Noticed Asda yesterday still do them, 49p for a teeny jar.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 20/09/2023 20:16

Butter and sugar mix. My grandma used to mix a load of room temperature butter with white sugar and give me a bowl full of it.
I loved it, but the thought of it now makes me queasy 🤢

Twopintsprick81 · 20/09/2023 20:24

Cheese and tomato ketchup sarnies. I still have ketchup on just about everything though.

intergalacticplanetary · 20/09/2023 20:37

Yes wtf was in the ravioli? I thought perhaps wood shavings and mouse droppings

VerasDuckworth · 20/09/2023 21:36

Bread and dripping

There was also a tinned meat thing - definitely not spam and we used to have it fried with egg and chips

Brains faggots are rank. Proper Welsh faggots are the food of the gods.
Mostly it's stuff that I can't eat now because they don't exist any more.
Does anyone remember Cheesies (cheese and mashed potato in breadcrumbs) and Chicklets? Also the people who made Sandwich Spread made a cucumber spread that was amazing in a sandwich with cheese.
I couldn't eat tinned salmon now.

I remember cheesies! They were triangles, weren't they? They were bloody delicious.

Manzana · 20/09/2023 21:59

Ribena, sugar free is yuck and malteaser’s, not malty, chocolate eww, and feels like chewing a wad of cardboard

PossiblyPertunia · 20/09/2023 22:03

Stuffed lambs hearts... my grandma made it for us growing up and I loved it but could not touch it now.

WhatsMyDream · 20/09/2023 22:06

Wagon wheels
That orange juice that came in a tin and you had to dilute it

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 20/09/2023 22:09

Butter and sugar sandwiches

Steev · 20/09/2023 22:10

Chitlins and faggots. I found out what they were and never ate them again

Ha ha loving the replies,

Bernard Matthews turkey burgers and turkey roast, powdered orange squash.

Still love ice cups, lil choccies in tiny foil cases.

We’d have a Bernard Matthews turkey roast every Sunday, cooked by mum and proudly ‘carved’ by dad using his Moulinex electric carving knife and my sister and I would fight over the roll of ‘skin/fat’ off the turkey 🤢

Bouledeneige · 20/09/2023 22:19

Spam fritters
Syrup sandwiches
Corned beef
Fray bentos steak and kidney pie
Chocolate spread

Got to say though there's two butterscotch Angel Delight packets in the cupboard. My daughter loves it!

Quinque · 20/09/2023 22:21

Angel Delight.
Evaporated milk on tinned peach slices.
Tinned steak and kidney pudding.
Posh fish paste called Salmon Spread that had never seen a real salmon. Tinned luncheon meat.
Tinned processed peas.

Discwriter · 20/09/2023 22:22

I used to love ketchup sandwiches and smash. I also 'made' microwave fudge which was marg and sugar added to condensed milk and I'd eat the lot. UPF was clearly not a concern in the 80s.
