What food/drinks did you enjoy growing up that you wouldn't touch today?

I know you said enjoy but I’ll throw in conger eel (my father was a fisherman). So pleased I’ll never have to eat that again.

Bernard matthews reformed turkey meat- probably because my mother didn’t believe in salt so it was the only thing that actually tasted of something.

Find us crispy pancakes…haven’t tried them again but I expect the6 aren’t the culinary triumph I thought they were.

Corn beef fritters! I loved them as a kid. Would never touch them now, the grease!

Paste sandwiches. Micro chips. Fish in bag (cod in butter sauce/parsley sauce) spam. Pickled onions. Corned beef. Primula spread

Haha. I promise I am a good cook and cook lots of fresh foods and vegetables. Can't think of much I won't eat from childhood except liver and onions or bananas

The weird cheap spread for sandwiches. Noticed Asda yesterday still do them, 49p for a teeny jar.

Butter and sugar mix. My grandma used to mix a load of room temperature butter with white sugar and give me a bowl full of it.
I loved it, but the thought of it now makes me queasy 🤢

Cheese and tomato ketchup sarnies. I still have ketchup on just about everything though.

There was also a tinned meat thing - definitely not spam and we used to have it fried with egg and chips

Ribena, sugar free is yuck and malteaser’s, not malty, chocolate eww, and feels like chewing a wad of cardboard

Stuffed lambs hearts... my grandma made it for us growing up and I loved it but could not touch it now.

Chitlins and faggots. I found out what they were and never ate them again

We’d have a Bernard Matthews turkey roast every Sunday, cooked by mum and proudly ‘carved’ by dad using his Moulinex electric carving knife and my sister and I would fight over the roll of ‘skin/fat’ off the turkey 🤢

Got to say though there's two butterscotch Angel Delight packets in the cupboard. My daughter loves it!

Posh fish paste called Salmon Spread that had never seen a real salmon. Tinned luncheon meat.
Tinned processed peas.

I used to love ketchup sandwiches and smash. I also 'made' microwave fudge which was marg and sugar added to condensed milk and I'd eat the lot. UPF was clearly not a concern in the 80s.
