Is there something wrong with this?

I'm a long time reader of this site and signed up to prove a point to my husband.

I made a nice meal of chicken, rice and crisps but my husband thinks it's weird.

It's no different to adding potatoes, crisps are just a different form. Am I wrong here???

a) horrendous choice imo
b) not the dogs for free!!

MollysBrolly · 18/07/2023 16:29

I'd eat it. If I don't have to cook I'll eat most things

TomatoSandwiches · 18/07/2023 16:30

YANBU, what were you punishing him for btw?

ODFOx · 18/07/2023 16:32

It doesn't look appetising imo but I have seen American dishes on Facebook that are rice or pasta, meat and sauce all mixed together with crisps or cornflakes as a topping, so maybe it was the presentation rather than the components which made it a bit....odd!!!

GettingStuffed · 18/07/2023 16:32

It's similar to the south Welsh half and half, half rice and half chips.

I've also seen a recipe that was garnished with crispy potato sticks

Exasperatednow · 18/07/2023 16:32

Think it's really weird. Sorru

eandz13 · 18/07/2023 16:33

I'd eat it without the ketchup. Rice and ketchup?!

ApolloandDaphne · 18/07/2023 16:34

The crisps is very odd. I wouldn't like it at all. The rice and chicken is fine without the crisps.

itsmyp4rty · 18/07/2023 16:34

Yeah chicken rice and crisps, we have it all the time.
Then for desert we have fruit trifle, mostly tomato but sometimes cucumber.

I assumed the red sauce was chicken in a tomato sauce.

MeDearNoDear · 18/07/2023 16:34

Sorry, that's really weird

Qbish · 18/07/2023 16:35

What the actual fuck is that.

And ketchup?!

almostoverthehill · 18/07/2023 16:35

Looks like it’s been dropped on floor too lol

LadyOfTheCanyon · 18/07/2023 16:35

Where's the chicken??
That is one beige plate of food. I mean, I'd eat it to be polite if you served me it but I'd think you're weird for ever more. The texture alone would be hideous.

Why no veg?

Chemenger · 18/07/2023 16:35

No vegetables? Just double bland carbs and chicken on a plate with what looks like ketchup? Not very appealing.

Why would you have potatoes in any form with rice? No one needs two lots of carbohydrates. And no, ketchup is not a vegetable. Eat some!

Ds if that's you, get on with your coursework.

Chewbecca · 18/07/2023 16:37

It IS weird but I do like a chicken sally from the curry house so 🤷‍♀️

Chemenger · 18/07/2023 16:39

Are the crisps not difficult to eat with a knife and fork?

JayAlfredPrufrock · 18/07/2023 16:40

@Whadda
😂😂😂

That looks utterly grim OP.

powerhousesandra · 18/07/2023 16:40

they re potatoes just diff form

Definitely weird. Even adding potatoes to rice and curry is weird. No need for two portions of carbs especially with meat and no veg.

Catspyjamas17 · 18/07/2023 16:41

Last night we had chicken tikka masala with rice and salad. I guess we could have had poppadums and that would have been like having crisps as well. But generally we don't have potato products and rice at the same time. Though I'm not adverse to the double carb, the other day we had lasagne, garlic bread & salad.

The plate in the OP doesn't look very balanced. Generally we have a protein element a starchy carb and veg.

Parlourgames · 18/07/2023 16:43

They eat crisps with chicken and rice in Portugal, the crisps are considered the potato option. You need a nice salad with it

Completely different scenario. It’s not unknown to have sag aloo with with pilau
OP may aswell chuck a packet of Walkers on a roast dinner.
