Jacket potato toppings - what’s your favourite?

I personally like jacket with sour cream and chives. I also love oven baked jacket potato with lots of cheese, usually accompanied with a chicken salad or tuna salad or a Mexican bean salad loaded on top as a topping. And recently, I tried it with butter chicken which was fab... and now I’m hungry again Grin

What’s your favourite topping?

Just plain butter or butter and cheese.
I also like sweet corn relish but it’s not easy to find, Aldi did it for a time last year but stopped stocking it again (actually on the shelf, not in the limited time Aisle Of Wonder.

Mmm I love a jacket. My faves are the classics of cheese and beans, or cheese and coleslaw with salad on the side. I also like cottage cheese. I'm not a fan of things like curry on a potato, I really prefer that type of thing with rice.

Cauliflower cheese and bacon
Prawns in Marie Rose sauce with avacado
Cheese and beans
Cheese and coleslaw

@Retrievemysanity Same here!Grin I wonder the poster mentioning egg mayo was me under a different username. I love egg salad or chicken salad with the cheesy jacket potato. The other day I had a tuna melt jacket potato, it was delicious.

Don't think you can beat the simple butter and strong grated cheddar.

PissTestRightNowDaniella · 10/03/2021 18:15

Cheese and coleslaw. Generous quantities of both

Elmo230885 · 10/03/2021 18:20

Cheese and beans. In that order.

SkankingMopoke · 10/03/2021 18:22

All joint favourites:
Prawns in Marie Rose sauce and cheese
Beans and cheese
Tuna and sweetcorn mayo and cheese
Chilli con carne and cheese
(Cheese should be made a legal requirement of a JP IMO)

Plus salad cream to spread on the skins once the middle and filling has been eaten.

Another nice filling for a change is to scoop out the middle, mash, mix with cheese, spring onions, a bit of cream and smoked mackerel, then pop the mixture back into the skin. Top with a bit more cheese and grill until bubbling.

Strong cheddar cheese, salted butter and coleslaw. The absolute best ever.

TigerDroveAgain · 10/03/2021 18:24

For me butter, grated cheddar and a mixed salad

Anyone else find that if you buy a pack of baking spuds the spuds are really just too small?

Autumn101 · 10/03/2021 18:26

A thick chilli cone carne with sour cream and grated cheese

Chopped up sausages in baked beans

Sticky peri peri chicken

Tuna Mayo with grated cheese, under the grill so cheese melts and it’s all warm

DitchedBitch · 10/03/2021 18:27

Leeks in white sauce and a little grated cheese.

Chilli - on a cold day, chilli on a jacket is so comforting

HeronLanyon · 10/03/2021 18:28

Sour cream and spring onions. Lashing of butter.
Coleslaw - in fact this is a great combo.
Butter and red currant jelly.
Not fond of melted cheese in/on them for some reason.

starbrightstarlight8888 · 10/03/2021 18:30

Egg mayonnaise

Oblomov21 · 10/03/2021 18:31

Lots of butter. Cheese. Lots of pepper.

MorePotatoSalad · 10/03/2021 18:33

Big fan of kale and philadelphia.

Flaunch · 10/03/2021 18:33

Spicy green pesto with rocket, red onion and tomato salad.

I’m loving all the different ideas. Hadn’t thought of chilli with jacket potatoes, I’ve tried chilli con carne on baked aubergines so why not baked potatoes?

I also just googled Marie Rose sauce as it sounded quite fancy! It’s pretty much a ketchup based sauce, with mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice and pepper. Here I was thinking I had invented my own sauce, minus the Worcestershire sauce, but it turns out it already existed! Xmas Smile

Love cheese and coleslaw as well as cottage cheese and crispy bacon!!

Also prawns in marie rose sauce

SkankingMopoke · 10/03/2021 20:11

Haha OP! Yes, Marie Rose is the very opposite of fancy! Simple but delicious. I put cayenne pepper in mine instead of the Worcestershire sauce.

Retrievemysanity · 11/03/2021 08:41

@ExitChasedByAnImposter yes it probably was! Regarding chilli on jackets, this is also amazing. Spud u Like used to do one called ‘Jack and Chill’ which I used to order because I liked the name Grin

BikeRunSki · 11/03/2021 08:43
