Would you eat dogs?

If dogs were farmed and slaughtered in properly regulated premises would you eat them?

I can understand a lot of people keep them as pets and I'm not advocating eating Fido next door but surely eating properly farm bred dogs isn't unreasonable is it?

Personally I wouldn't have any problem with it if it was properly controlled.

If it was that or starve then yes I would. Out of choice? No.

I would however happily eat insects as protein.

AdoraBell · 26/11/2020 16:34

Not out of choice. If I had any other food I would not but if it was eat dog or die from starvation then I would.

Faynite · 26/11/2020 16:35

No

I meant out of choice.

I'd happily eat dog but can understand that some wouldn't. On the other hand I wouldn't eat insects because I see them as horrible dirty creepy crawly thing although I do realise they are a good source of protein.

NO!

CorianderQueen · 26/11/2020 16:39

No.

I don't eat other animals anyway so no, but when I was a meat eater I wouldn't either. You only need to have had a dog come over to you when you're crying to feel love for them.

pilates · 26/11/2020 16:40

No, the thought upsets me

Moondust001 · 26/11/2020 16:43

I couldn't bring myself to it, but I know it's cultural, and nothing more. If I was crashed in the Andes, I know other passengers would look tasty.... But I have had snake, and guinea pig. But I cannot even think of eating rabbit, for which you can probably blame watching Watership Down on the day that mum made rabbit for tea!

Greentea93 · 26/11/2020 16:48

What a weird question to ask or pop up in your head?!? Is this a wind up or are you that bored?! Weirdo

More weird than 2000 threads on whether one should report the neighbours or why you aren't taking the vaccine? At least it is novel. Unlike you, who are just plan bloody rude.
LimpidPools · 26/11/2020 16:52

No, not by choice. And not happily. But I know that all the things that bother me could be applied to pigs too. Which doesn't make me feel great tbh, but doesn't stop me either.

MissDollyMix · 26/11/2020 16:54

No. Never. Would sooner eat leaves from the trees.

RaininSummer · 26/11/2020 16:57

No but then I find cows, pigs, sheep and birds cute too so don't eat them.

rainbowscalling · 26/11/2020 16:58

No but I also don't eat any other animals either.

It's such a cultural oddity to me that countries judge other countries for they choice of animal to eat based on what we find 'cute' or domesticated.

AlwaysLatte · 26/11/2020 16:59

Omg never. 😭 Pulses are easier and cheaper to get anyway, so you would never starve!!

It may be an unusual question but it isn't a wind up and doesn't make me a weirdo thanks.

I was merely interested in what others though when it is largely a cultural thing as someone else pointed out.

Personally I can't see how it's any different from eating a sheep or a cow etc though I can understand why other may thing differently.

I wouldn't feel comfortable eating a dog I was familiar with (and I'm not advocating that) but if pre packed steaks were in the supermarket next to the beef I'd have no qualms.

That comment about ‘other passengers’ made me lol 🤭

Weirdo. Troll, I hope!

justanotherneighinparadise · 26/11/2020 17:01

I also wouldn’t choose to eat goat and I don’t think they’re particularly cute. In many areas of the world goat is eaten very frequently. I also wouldn’t eat rabbit out of choice, nor veal.

trotesio · 26/11/2020 17:02

No, I imagine they taste of the smell of wet dog.

Branleuse · 26/11/2020 17:03

no, im certainly not very good at being vegetarian and it never lasts long when I do, but I would definitely draw the line at pets and animals that ive anthropomorphised.

goodwinter · 26/11/2020 17:05

No, but I realise that makes me a total hypocrite as I'm no longer vegetarian.

Greentea93 · 26/11/2020 17:05

@AlwaysLatte yes agree with you!

HerFlowersToLove · 26/11/2020 17:06

I don't eat meat, but never understand why people will happily eat a sausage when pigs are more intelligent than dogs, so undoubtedly suffer more stress if badly treated (which millions of them are). Yet there's always horror at the suggestion of eating dogs.

Why is asking a perfectly sensible if unusual question a troll?

I'm not asking anything pervy about your underwear or your sex life am I?

I can assure you it is a question of genuine interest.
