Minced beef (not bolognese, chilli or cottage pie)

I got some minced beef out of the freezer and I really don't fancy bolognese or chilli as I've had them both in the last week

Not sure I fancy cottage pie but that is top option at the moment.

I have made a nice ginger stir fry recipe with minced beef but it's not my favourite.

For me and DH

Any ideas welcome - ideally quick and easy Grin

serialreturner · 20/10/2020 17:28

Tacos.

EvilHerbivore · 20/10/2020 17:28

Fajitas?

Chimchar · 20/10/2020 17:29

Fry with paprika and spices and have loaded nachos. Mmmm! Grin

Shape it into something, think burgers, meatballs, kebabs etc. depending on what you’ve got to go with them.

MillieEpple · 20/10/2020 17:29

Meatloaf. Mix with stuffing mix and about 180ml of beef stock.

katy1213 · 20/10/2020 17:33

Goulash soup.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 20/10/2020 17:34

Meatballs - italian style or meatball curry - yum

EatPrayYoga · 20/10/2020 17:37

We love tacos and nachos but we had tacos on Friday so I was thinking something different and Im putting them all in the beef chilli category...

I have never made meatballs but I like the idea. I always imaging them to taste bland and "meaty". I don't think I've ever had a nice meatball

Curried mince with peas & potatoes!

minipie · 20/10/2020 17:39

Burgers

Or batch cook something and put back into the freezer...

bookgirl1982 · 20/10/2020 17:39

Curry? Fry with onions and spices then add rice and water and cook for 20mins. Makes a lovely biriyani

iklboo · 20/10/2020 17:39

CHEESEBURGER PASTA

soloula · 20/10/2020 17:40

Bobotie

katy1213 · 20/10/2020 17:40

Bobotie.

Trouble is, mince is mince and it's boring.

PontiacBandit · 20/10/2020 17:41

Indian keema pie. It's our favourite mince recipe, better with lamb mince but nice with beef. Curried mince with chopped veg topped with curried potatoes and bake.

Onyourway · 20/10/2020 17:44

Meatball are less 'meaty' if you grate carrots, onion, red pepper, breadcrumbs in.

More like rissoles then!

Make a quick tomato sauce to throw on top.

AppleDragon · 20/10/2020 17:45

Yellow Thai curry

Madcats · 20/10/2020 17:47

What you need is a book from the 80s called "Marvellous Meals with Mince", by Josceline Dimbleby.

Do you have a shelf full of spices?

Beef mince, garlic, chopped anchovy and some breadcrumbs makes tasty meatballs (best with tomato sauce)? Or maybe beef and mushroom? If you have a sweet tooth, what about trying bobotie (a South African dish, a bit like a curried moussaka)?

Or maybe get some wraps and make a dryish chilli to serve with lettuce, tomato, cheese and sour cream.

EatPrayYoga · 20/10/2020 17:49

Or batch cook something and put back into the freezer...

But then I'd still need something for dinner!

Had to look up bobotie

Tempted by meatballs!

DH is not a fan of tomato sauces but he eats bolognese!

I like keema but should be with lamb?

Never made my own burgers. Don't have any buns.

Keema curry?

EatPrayYoga · 20/10/2020 17:50

I have all the spices

I have narrowed down to

Tacos / nachos
Meatballs and spaghetti
Jamie's ginger minced beef with noodles

I've got that one! A Sainsbury one if I remember, I must go and find it

Meatloaf? Also - as PPs have suggested - keema curry. Fry finely chopped onions until golden, add mince, cook until brown, add curry spices, seasoning, and sliced mushrooms, continue to cook, add a splashn of water if it gets too drythen add some frozen peas until cooked, serve with plain boiled or pilau rice. Or you could do moussaka - works with beef as well as with lamb.

Meatballs then add a tin of tomatoes and oregano and at the end crack an egg in the middle. Serve in the dish with flatbread
