How often do you food shop?

I always do one big shop for a month. After the first week all the fridge stuff is eaten as they have shorted dates so I’m thinking of swapping to a weekly or fortnightly shop so we always have stuff in the fridge, not just the freezer or cupboards.

How often do you do grocery shopping?

1 internet shop a week now, used to get top ups in the week but not since the lockdown started.

Readyme · 04/07/2020 17:47

I used to do once a week but with a slightly bigger shop at the start of the month with a menu plan.
Now I do it every 10 days, around 3 shops a month. I find it much easier to keep a good budget and menu plan but for it not to get too boring.

AriettyHomily · 04/07/2020 17:49

Once a week and used to top up bits / pop to the shops pretty much daily. Now I limit the popping out for salad or whatever to once a week.

AriettyHomily · 04/07/2020 17:50

What do you eat for the other three weeks fridge is empty?

Bookaholic73 · 04/07/2020 17:52

3x a week.
I’d love to get it down to once or twice a month!!

megletthesecond · 04/07/2020 17:53

Used to be 4/5 times a week as I pass a several shops on the way to work.

Now it's once a week supermarket collection. It's a nightmare meal planning it. My fridge is only small.

firstimemamma · 04/07/2020 17:54

3 times a week & from 4 different shops.

Smarshian · 04/07/2020 18:01

One delivery a week and then usually a top up of salad/bread/ fruit

D1ngledanglers · 04/07/2020 18:25

Fortnightly here. Used to be weekly but dreaded it in lockdown!

WinWinnieTheWay · 04/07/2020 18:26

Twice a week. Sensible big shop on Monday and treaty shop on Friday for the weekend.

TimeWastingButFun · 04/07/2020 18:27

Usually main weekly shop for us in a Monday then a top up when I do my mums for her on Friday.

MrsMoastyToasty · 04/07/2020 18:30

Daily. We live within walking distance of Tesco's. We only have an under counter fridge and an under counter freezer so space is a premium.
In fact I don't do any food shopping if I can help it. DH enjoys doing it so I let him crack on.

theneverendinglaundry · 04/07/2020 19:55

Too many. We have no car and 3 kids. I try to get a delivery once a week and then top up 2/3 times a week in the local sainsburys with my trolley.

Chasingsquirrels · 04/07/2020 20:02

Every 10/11 days atm - Tesco click & collect.
Freeze bread and milk to have enough to last and use the bread maker for a loaf Saturday mornings anyway, eat soft fruits first and then hard fruits.

Used to be weekly, I drove past Aldi on my way home, plus a monthlyish top up at Tesco for things I couldn't get at Aldi.

PickAChew · 04/07/2020 20:08

2 proper shops a week plus one or two top ups, depending on how successful I was at obtaining decent veg or ds1's regulation lunch food (asd)

dementedpixie · 04/07/2020 20:10

Twice a week with maybe an extra trip for bread or milk

Rocket1982 · 04/07/2020 20:13

Every 17-18 days but milk delivered 3x/week

Evelefteden · 04/07/2020 20:17

One weekly shop and top ups from local shops through out the week.

yeOldeTrout · 04/07/2020 20:17

wow. We go every 3-4 days. I don't have room to store all the milk we would get thru for 1-2 weeks or longer (never mind other foods as well).

rottiemum88 · 04/07/2020 20:26

Once a week, no top ups

Makegoodchoices · 04/07/2020 20:33

Weekly deliveries before lockdown, fortnightly during lockdown.

MuchTooTired · 04/07/2020 20:36

Pre lockdown was once a week with random top ups every couple of days, but since then I seem to be doing a shop every 2-3 weeks with next to no top ups.

I’m lucky to have quite a lot of freezer space though.

passthemustard · 04/07/2020 20:39

Every 4 days. I'm not happy about this though. Once a week either a delivery or supermarket shop would be ideal but I can never get enough to last a week. If I buy more - they eat more. 😬🙄

inappropriateraspberry · 04/07/2020 20:46

Once a week, sometimes an extra little shop for things I've forgotten or didn't realise we were low/out of/need for a recipe. Plan the meals for the week and go from there. I couldn't do once a month - too many perishables to keep buying and I know I'd end up getting lots of extras each time I went shopping.

Smarshian · 04/07/2020 22:24

How do those who shop once a week or less with no top ups Manage with fresh food? We eat salad probably 5 days a week and lots of other fresh veg/fruit. Salad leaves/ bananas etc simply don’t last us a week without going bad.
