What are you still finding it hard to source?

I’ve been going to my local Sainsbury’s each Wednesday morning for my family’s essential shopping and finding some of the same stuff week after week is still really hard if not impossible to get.

Flour of any kind
Peanut butter
Rice
Baking powder (though scored a box of 6 sachets today!)
Caster sugar
Dried beans

Conversely, I have had no problems whatsoever getting eggs or bread, or meat or fresh produce, since the beginning of the lockdown. There was a weird period a couple of weeks ago when reasonably priced wine was scarce but thank god that’s been sorted.

What’s still missing from your supermarket shelves?

Flour
Yeast
Cheap bleach (40p a bottle Tesco own brand stuff)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/04/2020 20:02

Eggs and flour here currently - everything else we've managed to get a version of, even if it might not be the 'ideal version'.

tilder · 15/04/2020 20:03

Flour. Even weird varieties sold out. Closest thing was pancake mix.

delilahbucket · 15/04/2020 20:05

Eggs. They are suddenly in short supply. Dp managed to get some in Sainsbury's today, but the most expensive eggs money can buy. I'm surprised they're not golden!

Tanfastic · 15/04/2020 20:05

Flour, nowhere to be seen in my area and if it is it's gone within an hour of being put on the shelf.

Dk20 · 15/04/2020 20:07

Here in Ireland, I cannot get clothes for my baby who has now gone up into the next size. I'm also struggling to get a mattress for his cot, hes too big for his crib now.
Also need sun hats for both of the kids.

VerbenaGirl · 15/04/2020 20:08

Flour is the only thing we haven’t been able to get this week. Considering a catering sized bag from Brakes, as they have now started delivering to homes in our area. We do bake a lot normally, and more now we are at home - so we’d use it.

CalleighDoodle · 15/04/2020 20:09

Flour. Wipes.

tinytemper66 · 15/04/2020 20:09

Flour!

paradisefalls · 15/04/2020 20:09

Flour
Pasta
Hand wash
Dettol
Nutella

jackstini · 15/04/2020 20:09

Pasta & paella rice
(although no shortage of risotto rice...)

Trimalata · 15/04/2020 20:11

Yeast is the only thing that's a complete non-starter. Otherwise everything's fairly normal. Missing our Saturday pizzas!

HermioneWeasley · 15/04/2020 20:12

Flour!

weebarra · 15/04/2020 20:13

Flour
Caster sugar

Tanfastic · 15/04/2020 20:15

How funny caster sugar in abundance in the supermarket yesterday, I bought some ...no bloody flour though.

Unescorted · 15/04/2020 20:15

Bread flour. All other types are available.
Muffin cases
Bleach (cleaning is a new and novel activity so no one had it in their Brexit stash or everyone is become a little obsessive)
Flat leaf parsley.... me either.
Chorizo
Passata
Pesto

LittleRa · 15/04/2020 20:17

Flour, particular shapes of pasta, condensed soup (Campbell’s, I use it in recipes).

stuckindoors77 · 15/04/2020 20:18

Couldn't get broccoli at all last week, fresh, frozen.... all gone.
Also flour and peanut butter.

RedLemon · 15/04/2020 20:18

@Dk20 Dunnes Stores are still selling online clothes- depending on your baby’s age you may be able to order some stuff there.

ShoppingBasket · 15/04/2020 20:19

@Dk20 Next are delivering in Ireland now since yesterday. Also a lot of Dunnes stores still have their clothing available in their stores but also deliver from website including hats.

I can't get flour and cheap disinfectant wipes and sprays that I always use. I could buy the more expensive wipes but I'll do without!

Dk20 · 15/04/2020 20:20

@redlemon they were the first place I looked online and cant get anything in his size there Sad

CuteOrangeElephant · 15/04/2020 20:21

Yeast

WoollyFoolly · 15/04/2020 20:21

If you can manage to find cream of tartar and bicarbonate of soda, baking powder is a 2:1 mix of those.

I have been very lucky, we have a local catering supplier who is doing home deliveries and I got a big sack of bread flour last week.
I’m not missing anything at the moment.

worldweary45 · 15/04/2020 20:23

Tinned tomatoes
Baked beans
Flour
Frozen veg

Plenty of fresh veg but I'm finding it doesn't keep as long as usual -3 days and it's past its best so we are eating lots of soups and stews
