Im currently obsessed with Greek yogurt for breakfast.
What's your favorite topping combination?
I've usually have chopped banana, mixed berries, chopped nuts and honey.
I've recently had it with chopped kiwi and mango which was also delicious.
Just wondering what everyone else has so I can possibly steal your ideas? Grin

Passionfruit and linseed
Stewed apple and hazelnuts
Cherries, blueberries and almonds

Or in pandemic times a pouch of apple sauce from the baby aisle.

Lidl berries and cherries muesli

Blueberries, flaked almonds and honey

Over poached soft fruit - peaches, plums, nectarines etc

With just a bit of honey

Swirled with naice strawberry/blackcurrant jam

Lidls own brand. Comes in an actual bucket.

Is hands down the best Greek yoghurt this side of the med.

@quince2figs

I always have a savory breakfast - I thought somethings may be considered quite strange - but if you have nothing against savory in the morning here are some things I like with greek yogurt

-salt and cumin and olive oil and roasted chunks of sourdough bread rubbed with garlic with lots of chopped parsley

-with chopped chillis and charred bell peppers

  • roasted cherry tomatoes with roasted sweet garlic
  • grated carrot, cumin, and coriander
  • mixed with a spicy lentil dhal
  • sliced fennel bulb and orange segments
  • olives, oregano, and chopped tomatoes
  • barely cooked garden peas, mint and orange zest
  • chives and finely sliced little red radishes

  • barely cooked garden peas, mint and orange zest -lemon zest - I meant lemon zest - I reckon orange zest and peas may be strange!

Some of these sound insanely good. When I can get my hands on some of these things, I'll be testing them out.
I'm hungry now!!

Pistachio kernels and Greek honey
Mixed salted seeds and Greek honey

Bake 4 ingredient brownies of cacao, nut butter, banana or pumpkin and protein powder. Top with homemade granola, coconut yoghurt and berries.

quince2figs · 06/04/2020 23:53

@pluiedeprintemps, apologies for not replying sooner - all those savoury suggestions sound fantastic - especially for a hot summer’s morning. Thank you

teainthetardis · 07/04/2020 00:15

I like mixing a bit of cinnamon into mine along with whatever fruit I have. Cinnamon, banana, blueberries and granola is a fave

cherryblossomgin · 07/04/2020 00:19

Raspberries or cereal. Currently have pecan and maple cereal from aldi and that goes well with it.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/04/2020 00:32

For work, I usually later up frozen blueberries, yoghurt and seeds with a drizzle of honey the night before and leave it in the fridge overnight.

At home, I like yoghurt, banana, nuts and honey.
Yoghurt with tinned figs, or tinned plums, honey and nuts.
Yoghurt with granola and berries.

Tsatziki is one of my favourite things, but I wouldn't fancy it for breakfast.

MaMisled · 07/04/2020 00:34

Stewed apple and cinnamon.

Greek yoghurt, fruit like raspberries and toasted sliced almonds delicious

quince2figs · 08/04/2020 19:07

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie, tinned figs and honey, delicious. I always have tinned figs and yogurt whenever me and dcs are overnighting in a Premier Inn. Obvs followed by full English and pain au chocolate. They have no idea (yet) that more luxurious hotels, or indeed buffet breakfasts exist 😁
They bought me a fig tree for Mother’s Day, which has yet arrive. Hoping I will be able to pick at least 1 ripe fig this year for my yogurt, assuming it’s here before Autumn....

catinb0oots · 08/04/2020 19:25

Stewed rhubarb

KipperTheFrog · 08/04/2020 19:28

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/04/2020 21:16

Quince - I've never seen figs in a Premier Inn and now I feel like I've really missed out!

RainbowFlowers · 08/04/2020 21:18

Bran flakes, prunes and raisins.

IrenetheQuaint · 08/04/2020 21:21

Maple syrup

Oranges poached in molasses sugar

NotAnEMERGENCY · 08/04/2020 21:54

I love my breakfast! I have Greek yoghurt with malt wheats, chopped banana and pineapple chunks. Yum! I really miss it when I'm away from home and don't get to have it.
