Do you have one? What do you like to make in it?

I used to have a slow cooker, which was great for making stock and mulling wine.

It's both! Magic isn't it? Genius.

lynmilne65 · 24/09/2018 09:11

Is IP same as pressure cooker?

Hmmingbird · 24/09/2018 09:19

Mine's arriving tomorrow! Yay!

Wolfcub · 24/09/2018 11:23

Mine is supposed to be arriving today. Very excited

Hmmingbird · 24/09/2018 13:22

Wow! Just went onto amazon to see if it had been dispatched, and until today was showing back in stock on 24th and down to £108. Now it's showing only available from third party sellers for £230! Mine is still showing as arriving tomorrow, but I think demand is definitely outstripping supply here!!

Lougle · 24/09/2018 13:51

@lynmilne65 the Instant Pot is an electric, multifunction pressure cooker. It is pressure cooker, but it's so much more than that, too, and it is very safe and controlled.

CruCru · 24/09/2018 14:22

Crumbs. I hope it isn’t this thread.

I have also convinced a mum friend from school to get one. Think hers arrives this week.

They stocked out completely in Europe for some weeks about this time last year.

So excited!!!!!

WeAreSailing · 25/09/2018 15:44

Mine is still unopened in box after 4 days - too scared to use it!

Lougle · 25/09/2018 15:57

@wearesailing do the water test in the setup instructions, and that will reassure you that it is safe! You'll see how it builds the steam gradually, how it seals the pot, and how you release it afterwards, all with only a little bit of water in it.

PawneeParksDept · 25/09/2018 16:02

@WeAreSailing

NOOO you have to use it! Do you want to copy something I've done step by step ?

PawneeParksDept · 25/09/2018 16:04

Has anyone got a Bolognaise from scratch no jar recipe that they would swear by?

WeAreSailing · 25/09/2018 16:04

Thank you for tip and yes please to a step by step recipe!

PawneeParksDept · 25/09/2018 16:20

Ok so!

Switch it on, do your water test! The instructions for that are in it.

Yesterday I made this.

Put olive oil in inner pot, Press Sauté

Add Sausages, Brown them

Add onions, garlic, mushrooms, lardons, brown them.

Add in the veggies you want. I used Green Beans, Broad Beans, Spinach, Kale and Carrots

Turn off Sauté

Add in Chopped Tomatoes, Chicken Stock and Red Wine. That's your liquid. I also use a can of Baked Beans and Sausage, though I realise that's not everyone's taste.

Seal the lid. Seal the valve.

Press Bean and Chili Button

Leave until you want it as it will switch to Keep Warm when done. When ready, flick the valve to let out the pressure.

Lift lid.

Voila!

Wolfcub · 25/09/2018 17:27

Wearesailng mine came yesterday, it’s a complete doddle to use and not at all scary

Wolfcub · 25/09/2018 17:28

Does anyone have a porridge recipe/method that doesn’t result in the milk burning to the bottom of the pot?

CruCru · 25/09/2018 17:55

The remains of the duck ragu I made today.

@Wolfcub make it with water and add milk when it's done? I use steel cut oats which work really well in the IP, 1 cup oats, 1 cup milk, 1 cup water, approx 8 mins on High pressure.

CassieStuart · 25/09/2018 19:09

Just ordered mine from Amazon - due tomorrow. Not sure if I am excited or nervous about it! Will be back here soon asking for some recipes I think!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 25/09/2018 19:16

Hmmm, lentils don't work particularly well in an Instant Pot. I've tried a chicken recipe that I usually slow cook in the oven that contains a handful of red lentils and when it came to pressure I got the burn message. I de-pressurised and gave it a stir and tried again but just got the burn message as soon as it came to pressure again.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 25/09/2018 19:19

My dahl comes out nice but I find you need to watch the liquid ratio or things come out too sloppy.

GrannyHaddock · 25/09/2018 19:38

Expecting my new Pot today, but had a message from Amazon that it won't come till around the 1st October. So disappointed! I thought I'd be producing wonderful effortless food tomorrow.
