Do you have one? What do you like to make in it?

I used to have a slow cooker, which was great for making stock and mulling wine.

Argh sorry Fifthkey

Sadly rice pudding and risotto are on my most hated foods list, its a shame as I would like to try doing them just out of curiousity.

Mine has had a rest for a couple of days but will be used for proving dough for pizza later then yogurt overnight.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 21/09/2018 08:03

You take that back! Rice pudding is breast milk for grown ups.

Meet0nTheIedge · 21/09/2018 08:33

I can't even bear the smell or look of it ket alone actually eating it. Traumatised by 1970s school dinners. I've only just got over my aversion to custard from those days. As for dumplings, I was genuinely shocked to find out about 10 years ago that they don't have to be chewy and rubbery.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 21/09/2018 10:03

Mmm, hot rice pudding with cold vanilla ice cream. It must be a decade since I've had that.

One of my fondest childhood memories is my Dad deciding that rice pudding must be easy to make and not realising how much the rice swells up so starting off with far too much dry pudding rice. He had to keep dividing it into different pots and adding more milk. We had enough to feed 15 by the time he was done. Grin

Instant pot now at £111. I'm sure it was £132 this morning.

WeAreSailing · 22/09/2018 15:31

WeAreSailing would like to announce the long overdue arrival of her new baby!

Now at £109 on Amazon. DH has now ordered it for my birthday present after i "subtly" hinted i could use it to prove bread as well as everything else. I love kichen gadgets.

I'm having my skimmed milk Greek yogurt for breakfast, it's delicious!

Oh it worked for you! I'm so pleased saintaiva Smile

Glad the cold start yoghurt worked for you, too, Barbayagar Smile

AsAProfessionalFekko · 23/09/2018 11:01

Saintava how did you make it?

Lougle · 23/09/2018 11:03

I've just looked back at my Amazon order and mine was £85.99 when I got it (it was DH's Christmas present to me). It felt even more special because I knew it was a real bargain. But it's been as low as £69.99! That must have felt so good!!

saintava · 23/09/2018 11:27

@lougle I wasn't sure it would, but thought I'd give it a go, I used the cold start method too, so just put the milk in the pot, added a couple of teaspoons of 0% Greek yogurt, put it on yogurt setting for 8 hours, chilled it in the fridge for a few hours and then strained it for about 2 and a half hours in a nut milk bag. So impressed, it tastes so much fresher and nicer than shop bought!

Once I've lost the weight I want to lose then I'll be making it with whole milk Smile

GrannyHaddock · 23/09/2018 12:03

I find the price fluctuations a bit baffling and manipulative. Anybody that has paid £132 while it was out of stock will be annoyed, and cancel or send it back and buy again at the lower price.

Lougle · 23/09/2018 12:51

I found that people tend to just buy another one when they see it cheap! Believe me, having two opens up so many more possibilities for cooking.

Meet0nTheIedge · 23/09/2018 16:44

Mine was £69.99, Black Friday two years ago, someone posted on here and I bought it on impulse. Certainly won't be getting another though, we only just have enough space for one.

TolstoyAteMyHamster · 23/09/2018 16:47

Really loving ours. We had tortilla for lunch made in the IP - various bits of manky veg, eggs and cheese. It was very soft and not at all rubbery. Yesterday I made tomato and lentil soup, then Indonesian peanut chicken, both of which were easy, mess free and delicious.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 23/09/2018 19:27

Curry is simmering away in mine tonight. Yum.

saintava · 23/09/2018 20:23

I'm using mine as a slow cooker and making cowboy stew with a gammon joint in, for lunch tomorrow. I've had my instant pot for over a year and a half and have only used it sporadically. So glad I'm now using it more and more

Enervator · 23/09/2018 20:43

Oooh mine arrives tomorrow! Bit nervous and excited.

LesLavandes · 23/09/2018 20:45

Mone has arrived today!😮

itsbritneybiatches · 23/09/2018 20:48

What's the difference between a slow cooker and an instant pot?

PawneeParksDept · 23/09/2018 21:15

An instant Pot is multifunctional and is also a Pressure Cooker

saintava · 23/09/2018 21:23

I got rid of my separate pressure cooker and slow cooker when I got the instant pot, so it's space saving for me as well
