Every meal I cook DP hates

Thinkpositive23 · 09/04/2018 19:14

So this is the 4th time running I've cooked DP taken one bite and refused to eat it.
Chilli - mince too chewy.
Beef stew - tasteless
Chicken with rice and hot sauce - didn't fancy
Spag bol - mince gristly
And tonight corned beef hash - tastes off

I follow recipes and put salt and pepper in it but nothing I do is right.

Can someone give me some simple recipes to try?

👎👎😟

The Best tip I can give if to tell the ungrateful sod to cook himself!

JollyGiraffe · 09/04/2018 19:15

Is he not able to cook?

How ungrateful.

Does he normally act like a 4 year old?

MagicFajita · 09/04/2018 19:16

Stop cooking for him.

Thisnamechanger · 09/04/2018 19:16

Urgh tell him to make his own meals the ungrateful sod!!!

HarrietKettleWasHere · 09/04/2018 19:17

He sounds rude but what's the quality of the meat you're using?

It's the kind of thing I can be really fussy about...

Crispbutty · 09/04/2018 19:17

Tell him to cook it himself. Ask him to show you how he prefers it.

I think he’s being an arse, but just one question, the meals he is moaning about include mince. This can often taste crap in my opinion if it’s not cooked and simmered slowly for at least a couple of hours.

moreismore · 09/04/2018 19:18

Ask him to show you how to do it.

Avasarala · 09/04/2018 19:18

Really easy solution - don't cook for him. Not a thing.

Unless you are quite literally the worst cook on the planet, then there is no way all 4 meals were inedible. The problem is him. Not you.

Cupoteap · 09/04/2018 19:18

What do you think it tastes like?

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 09/04/2018 19:19

Mince always needs to be cooked for longer than the recipe says.
I simmer my spaghetti bold for at least an hour

BrutusMcDogface · 09/04/2018 19:19

Tell him to cook for himself. Agree re: mince, though; its horrible if you don't cook it for at least one and preferably two hours.

However, to reiterate, tell the rude ungrateful sod to cook for himself!

Thinkpositive23 · 09/04/2018 19:20

Well I thought it was nice this evening to be honest and my ds who is 6 ate everything I ever put in front of him. I'm not a great cook but he's makes me feel really crap.

I love all your don't cook for him answers they have cheered me up!! 31 weeks preg with severe spd on crutches too so cooking right now is fu**ing awful!!!!!!

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 09/04/2018 19:21

I have never ever managed to produce something inedible.
Certain recipes come under the heading "don't bother trying this again" but they were eaten, maybe with little enthusiasm, but eaten nonetheless

Gileswithachainsaw · 09/04/2018 19:22

Tell him to cook for himself

I have to ask though what ingredients are you using. Aldi and Lidl mince cab be really grotty and nasty and their chicken tastes funny so he may or may not have a point about how it's tasting cos sone things can be hard to "rescue"

However he's being rude and if he's that worried he should buy and cook his own stuff and stop moaning

BrutusMcDogface · 09/04/2018 19:22

Bless you. If your son is eating it all then you can just say "this is dinner, son and I are having it. Take it or leave it. Oh, and what are you cooking for us all tomorrow?!"

Gileswithachainsaw · 09/04/2018 19:22

Gritty

Flightywoman · 09/04/2018 19:28

One of those is a straight "didn't fancy it". That's not an ingredients or cooking method issue, that's just him being a twat.

Is he generally an ungracious and fussy man-child? I mean, is this what he's like about stuff? Does he expect you to cook for him?

Personally, I'd probably stop cooking for him. He can do for himself if he's going to be shitty about it.

Greenyogagirl · 09/04/2018 19:31

Seriously? What an ungrateful knob.
Do you have a slow cooker? Lob everything in and a few hours later it’s done, might make things easier on you and it will make sure the meat is cooked well.
Personally I’d say continue cooking what you and 6yo like and if he doesn’t want anything that’s up to him.

Quartz2208 · 09/04/2018 19:34

First off he is completely ungrateful and far too fussy! I would tell him to sod off.

But chicken did not fancy well who cares. Corned beef hash - that is just the corned beef

The other two sound more a complaint with the mince you are using than you

Allthebestnamesareused · 09/04/2018 19:36

He is making you cook whilst on crutches with SPD!! You need to train him now and I mean right now that you are not his cook and he needs to step up and be an actual DP to you.

GreasyFryUp · 09/04/2018 19:37

So you are hobbling around on crutches, pregnant and you have cooked for him the last four nights?Tell him to get his arse into gear and see if he can do any better.

Si1ver · 09/04/2018 19:39

Has he ever complained about your cooking before and how long have you been together?

Basically he's an ungrateful twat.

TheScottishPlay · 09/04/2018 19:42

Oh my. There are no words. Well except 'Fuck you DP' followed by pelting him with corned beef hash.
Out of sight and earshot of DS, of course.

Outlookmainlyfair · 09/04/2018 19:42

Agree with PPs DP problem not your cooking!
I hope the SPD does not get you too down. You need uelp

whatsgoing · 09/04/2018 19:42
