Has it stopped? Can we start it up again?

OP posts:

I don't have a mai Pham, but I do have a Vietnamese cookbook (songs of sapa) and there are some great Vietnamese blogs ( the ravenous couple www.theravenouscouple.com/ / uyen luu www.uyenluu.com/recipes/ ) so, to include everyone m- why don't we have a general Vietnamese choice?

And the Jamie book someone suggested (superfood family classic?) as the second option?

Again with Jamie there are recipes from the book available online such as this www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/chicken-recipes/sesame-butterflied-chicken/

EnglishGirlApproximately · 24/01/2018 19:30

I’m in for Mai Pham I’m not that familiar with cooking Vietnamese so it’ll be good to try something different. How does it work I’ve forgotten! Do we just choose our own recipe then feed back in the thread? I’m ridiculously excited by this!

Grumpbum · 24/01/2018 19:31

I’m also interested but definitely can not afford a new cookbook every month so recipes available on line definitely a bonus!

worriedaboutchristmas · 24/01/2018 20:41

We used to say try 2 recipes per month (any recipe from the chosen books/theme/blogs)

Obviously more of you want Smile

Then post review/ photos/ comments.

I really think it's best to make sure that at least one of the chosen options is available online. Much more inclusive.

KoalasAteMyHomework · 24/01/2018 20:50

I'd be interested :-) newbie but want to widen my range of dishes. Or attempt to as much as I can with a fussy husband and DS!

1frenchfoodie · 24/01/2018 22:15

I'd be up for Mai Pham /vietnamese in general. The ravenous couple looks like a great blog, worried

Kikashi · 25/01/2018 11:10

Im in and happy to go with Vietnamese or anything else.

KoalasAteMyHomework · 25/01/2018 11:38

Happy to go with the vietmanese and jame oliver suggestions.
Might see if the library has mai pham

Taffeta · 25/01/2018 11:53

Yes happy with Mai Pham & Jamie Oliver Super Food Family Classics.

If anyone needs any recipes from the latter happy to post photo if that’s allowed!

Pantah630 · 25/01/2018 11:58

Woohoo, yes please, I've missed CBC Smile

Pantah630 · 25/01/2018 12:11

Managed to get a used copy of one and I have JO book. Hopefully it'll be here for Feb. I wasn't going to buy any more cool books after having a Kondo cull last year but temptation is too great, bought the new Rick Stein and HB Med for Christmas Blush

FeedingFrenzy5 · 25/01/2018 13:12

Yep, love the book choices. Looks like I can get the JO one in my local library. I can post a list of what I've already made from Mai Pham.

KoalasAteMyHomework · 25/01/2018 13:23

Got JO from the library luckily. I haven't had much luck with his recipes in the past so glad I can try a new one without buying. Might treat myself to the Mai Pham one.
feedingfrenzy a list would be useful :-) will give me an idea of what to maybe try as haven't done any Thai or Vietnamese cooking before

glorious · 25/01/2018 13:26

Ooh I was on the original ones too and yes would love to start up again Smile

EnglishGirlApproximately · 25/01/2018 13:37

So are we starting from 1st Feb? Give us chance to get hold of the books or find the recipes online?

Taffeta · 25/01/2018 13:53

Just got Mai Pham used from Amazon for £2.81 delivered.

Cheaper than the car parking by the library x 2!

KoalasAteMyHomework · 25/01/2018 14:09

Well done Taffeta! Am watching a used one on ebay but have to wait til payday!

Rattysparklebum · 26/01/2018 07:14

Oh, I would love to join in, love cooking but never tried Vietnamese so excited to try some recipes.

HairsprayBabe · 26/01/2018 10:09

Lots of the Jamie ones are online, I am excited!

Positivelyme · 26/01/2018 13:31

I'm definitely in, would love to try cooking something different rather than same old things.

incywincybitofa · 26/01/2018 14:21

I am in
How will we know which are the chosen blogs?

BubbleFrog · 26/01/2018 14:34

I would like to be in too! Cant resist a cookbook!

glorious · 26/01/2018 17:22

Oh dear. I may just have got Mai Pham for 3.23 and reserved Jamie at the library.

I cook a lot from Made in India , Nigel Slater Eat, Bill Granger, and Jerusalem to name but a few of the books that I picked up last time.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 26/01/2018 20:10

I use Jerusalem a lot and would love to do more Yottam recipes, I think I found smitten kitchen from the old threads too and I use a lot of her recipes still.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 26/01/2018 20:14

Just order Mai Pham from Amazon for £3.24' I'll look up Jamie recipes online. Really looking forward to this Grin
