I put the oven on about 180 which is gas 4 or 5 I think

I use a large roasting tin. If you've only got a small one.. half the recipe.

Check it at about 20-25 mins. If the cake springs back when you touch it then it's done.

MamaG · 23/02/2007 14:08

how large is your large roasting tin - couldi use 2 8 inch sandwich tins?

OP posts:
Marscentio · 23/02/2007 14:09

If you're using sandwich tins do 6 flour, 6 butter/marg/ 6 flour and 3 eggs

Marscentio · 23/02/2007 14:10

I think my cake square (which is bigger than my roasting tin) is 12" by 12". Oh I don't know... it's big and it's square lol!

The roaster is about the right size for a proper turkey. Does that help?

MamaG · 23/02/2007 14:11

hurray - thanks millions

I'm out of baking powder will have to wait until DS wakes up, grr

oh can't you just make it for me

OP posts:
MamaG · 23/02/2007 14:12

ooh I've got my meat roasting tin 13 1/2 inches by about 10 1/2"

its MASSIVE though, does that sound right?

Maybe it would do it?

mamag you can do as muffins too - i do a loaf tin and oodles of muffins. First time i made it i was in shock at the quantity of cake batter (but now i know why it has to be sooo big - everyone love it )

MamaG · 23/02/2007 14:16

ooh i have loaf tin and muffin tray

1 loaf tin / 12 muffins sound about right?

OP posts:
Marscentio · 23/02/2007 14:19

Yes your roasting tin would be perfect!

No I can't make it for you. The kids would smell it and it would be eaten before it got to the door.

Kelly1972 regularly makes hers as muffins.

Now... excuse me but I've got to get back to the porn! lol

MamaG · 23/02/2007 14:19

lol!

OP posts:
foxtrot · 23/02/2007 14:20

Umm, let me think - half fill the loaf tin and then half fill the muffin cups. I think i made more than 12, you may have to do a couple of batches. Oh, and cook the muffins for less time than the loaf - about 15 mins until they spring back when pressed.

MamaG · 23/02/2007 14:20

oh oh just one more Q - my roasting tin has sloping sides - is that ok?

OP posts:
MamaG · 23/02/2007 14:21

hmm

roasting tin
or
loaf tin & muffins....

hmm
roasting tin a bit mingo

OP posts:
Marscentio · 23/02/2007 14:26

mine also has sloping sides. Line it with baking paper or foil. Trust me!

And come back and be shocked by my porn post.

foxtrot · 23/02/2007 14:26

It was a dozen muffins - sneak a pic at y pics, i was soo proud i took a photo

omg, I've aged 6 years

I make mine as muffins as it's far easier to store, and no washing up the roaster

MamaG · 23/02/2007 14:38

dishwasher, kelly, dishwasher

plus, I'll just line it with foil then lob it (so wasteful!)

OP posts:
Kelly1978 · 23/02/2007 14:38

pmsl at the pictures, though I gotta admit to waving around cheesecakes on webcam before now

MamaG · 23/02/2007 14:38

i once linked to a photo of a cookie i baked

OP posts:
Kelly1978 · 23/02/2007 14:39

Oh I remember that, wasn't that a giant cookie or something. I clicked it!!
