Is there a September cook book club? I have had a look but I wasn't sure if I just wasn't looking properly.

Not that I've seen, think we've been having a summer break :)

Do you have a book(s) in mind?
I'm revisiting Anna Jones' Modern Way to Eat atm, wondered if anyone fancied redoing it...
Oh, and Made in India is being looked at again (again) :)

Coletterbox · 11/09/2015 18:48

Oooh - what's the cookery book club? Sounds fun!

PenelopeClearwater · 12/09/2015 05:29

I have Made In India after reading about it so I wouldn't mind trying that.

But no books in mind as I usually come looking for inspiration.

Coletterbox

Usually there are a couple of cook books chosen and we try some of the recipes. Then we talk about them here.

A modern way to eat looks good. My DD refuses all fruit so I need to get lots of veg into her.

Hello! Name changed here after hackergate but I'm very into Anna Jones's new book and her old book so yes please!

Humphriescushion · 12/09/2015 08:06

Hello all, can I join? Happy to give any book a whirl.

Kefybaby · 12/09/2015 20:06

I haven't joined the cookery book club for a while and would fancy it.
Has the new Jamie Oliver book been done? I am not a massive Jamie Oliver fan but the recipes look good. Just experimenting with one of them for the first time.

Cookingongas · 12/09/2015 21:09

I'm in ( regular here: nm after being listed) I've got Anna jones, made in India and the new Jamie, happy to cover any of them.

I recently tried the chilli from anna jones mwoe - it's lovely, but not a real chilli IMO. It's very low calorie too for dieters amoung us ( most of Anna jones is)

Coletterbox · 12/09/2015 22:14

Oh fab - would love to join in if that's ok! I don't have either Anna Jones or new Jamie but am a cook book-a-holic so will take absolutely no persuading to get either or both! :)

PenelopeClearwater · 13/09/2015 06:22

I've ordered the Anna Jones and the Jamie one from the library.

HuevosRancheros · 13/09/2015 08:05

I've never got on with Jamie - I'm veggie and have never found his veggie stuff particularly inspiring.

I'm back into Anna Jones as I realised she had a new book out, and I was about to put it onto my Christmas list when I remembered I hadn't really done her old one justice. So I have to "do" the old book properly before getting the new one Wink Grin
So I'm happy to join you in that book :)
Happy to share my favourites if anyone's interested - it is a book I turn to regularly, just that I always make the same things!

Does someone want to start a proper cookbook thread, or just carry on with this one?

With all the recent name changes it's hard to tell who's new to the cookery book club, but a word of warning - you will be buying a lot more books!! Despite every intention of just borrowing it from the library, you'll fall in love and it will drop into your Amazon basket Grin

HuevosRancheros · 13/09/2015 08:06

Oh, if any regular book club people changed their names, could you pm me, or drop a heavy hint? Thanks :)

glorious · 13/09/2015 08:09

Yay I'm in with whatever books. I have the new Ann's Jones, huevos. Haven't done that much yet. No name change here - I organise local meet ups so I'm out anyway!

Stellar67 · 13/09/2015 08:14

May I join this? I am in a recipe rut.

thegoldenlemon · 13/09/2015 08:16

Just bought the new Anna Jones, would be really up for that.

Cookingongas · 13/09/2015 09:08

I'm old. Well- to the cook book club anyway. And I second that it's an expensive commitmentWink

glorious · 13/09/2015 09:19

Of course stellar, please do

PurpleDaisies · 13/09/2015 09:24

I've never seen one of these threads before but I'd love to join. Reading/buying cookbooks are some of my favourite things to do and I'm terrible for getting stuck in a rut and just making to same old things for tea.

HuevosRancheros · 13/09/2015 09:53

Everyone is welcome to join in, you don't need to ask :)

I'll start a new thread on it, shall I, so we're easy to find

What do you think about making it a September/October thread, seeing as we're nearly halfway through September already, it gives people a chance to get some books and give them a proper go. And if we're fed up with them quickly, we can choose new books for October :)

So, are we agreed on either of the Anna Jones books, and the new Jamie?

Sorry Penelope if you think I'm taking over Blush, you started this thread, do you want to start up the new thread? :)

Cookingongas · 13/09/2015 10:05

Well I've just made Jamie's homemade tortilla with scalded veg, cheese, chilli and avacado ( I cannot get on with his 'avo' it's lazy and so poncey) it's a very nice breakfast, fast easy and healthy. It's helped with the hangover BlushI'll definitely make it again.

Is there a September cookery book club?
Cookingongas · 13/09/2015 10:15

Oh poo. Didn't realise there'd be a new thread ( that'll teach me to post before reading)

Kefybaby · 13/09/2015 10:16

Looks good, cooking!
We had the scrambled eggs with marmite mushrooms on seeded bread from JO. I made the bread last night. A very easy and nutritious recipe (it does not need kneading) but I am not sure about the baking time. I found it takes a lot longer and that's with a super hot oven. It was a lovely breakfast - very filling and healthy. DDs had a simpler scramble eggs with cheese version which they liked.

HuevosRancheros · 13/09/2015 11:05

Well, let's just stick with this thread then, we're all here Grin

I've done some new-to-me bits from MWTE last week, I'll post tomorrow :)

PenelopeClearwater · 13/09/2015 12:30

I don't mind if you start a new thread Huevos or if we stay here.

I was McKayz but had to re register. I dabbled a bit in the cookbook threads earlier in the year.

Thank you. I've just ordered Jamie's new book. So I will get going on that.
