I am fortunate to live in a part of Britain that has some wonderful local delicacies, such as

Black pudding
tripe
black peas
sticky toffee pudding
butter pies.

It is my mission to sample as many varieties of regional fayre from around Britain as possible. What local delicacies do you have in your area and have you tried them?

Bleakhouse, yes I guess it's similar. Samphire looks a little more appetising and probably sounds more posh but it does have a sea salty taste.

Oh you should try southwold butter buns mmmmmmmmmmmmm

ExcuseMyEyebrows · 08/08/2015 20:29

The samphire talk also reminded me of Laverbread.

sassytheFIRST · 08/08/2015 20:51

Oh and I grew up in an area with oatcakes. But the flat pancakey type, served warm with melted cheese and bacon. Omg.

DorothyGherkins · 08/08/2015 21:02

Lardy cake, Mothering Sunday buns and fritters.

Sticky toffee as well (local hotel claims they invented it!)
Skirlie
Clootie dumpling with milk

shouldnthavesaid · 08/08/2015 21:08

Also, fizzy bubblegum juice. I've never found that anywhere else yet.

WitchofScots · 08/08/2015 21:10

Stargazy pie (thus giving away where I live in one fell swoop) is well known a few mile away, other than that fish, fish, and more fish. We can, when we fancy fish, go and buy it straight from the boat.

Bleakhouse1879 · 08/08/2015 21:17

PuppyMonkey Have you had chitterlings and if so was it nice? I've never had it but I want to try it

Panakelty.
Stottie. It's just a big breadcake, but is best served generously filled with cheese savoury.

ouryve · 08/08/2015 21:29

If Booths descends as far south as Chorley, they sell Samphire.

wonkylegs · 08/08/2015 21:31

We also have an award winning vineyard that makes English Sparkling wine. I think I might win based on that. Cheers
