I am fortunate to live in a part of Britain that has some wonderful local delicacies, such as

Black pudding
tripe
black peas
sticky toffee pudding
butter pies.

It is my mission to sample as many varieties of regional fayre from around Britain as possible. What local delicacies do you have in your area and have you tried them?

Champagne style wine round here (Surrey)

My mum's from Cornwall. As well as pasties, I remember lovely yellow saffron cake - a sort of sweet bread. Heavenly.

And I grew up in the North East - stotty cake, floury baps (both very soft white bread) and Craster kippers. Having stotty cake with kippers for tea makes me so nostalgic.

And we always had chitterlings with salad , I must see if I can find anyone who still sells it - haven't had it for years :)

WitchofScots · 09/08/2015 08:42

Saffron cake :) I had some the other day with afternoon tea, I might make some today. It never stays in the cake tin for long.
