To ask you for some easy slow cooker recipes?

This is probably the wrong place for this but am after some simple recipes? Does anyone have and tips for me? The more simple the better

veggie or non veggie?

my staples in the slow cooker are sausage casserole, chicken chasseur, beef stew, and chilli..

Oh god- actual recipes? My slow cooker only makes chicken + shop bought sauce. Until I saw this thread I classified that as 'cooking'

Garlic and Lemon Chicken casserole

Chicken Thighs (skinless)
1 Lemon
chicken stock/chicken gravy granules
Green Beans
Carrots
Garlic
Onions/shallots
Leeks
Tarragon

Literally bung it all in. Chop carrots into chunky batons, slice the lemon into rings, crush half the garlic bulb and put the remaining cloves in whole. Quarter the onions. Cover with water and add stock (I used chicken bovril). You can chuck everything in at the same time or add leeks andgreen beans an hour or 2 before serving. I bunged everything in 1st thing today and it turned out fine 8 hours later. I add gravy granules half an hour before the end just to thicken the liquid because I like it to be a bit thicker than just water. I dont even bother to brown off the chicken first. To me a slow cooker is just bung it all in and come back X hours later and eat.

Most supermarkets have a stand with those Schwartz mix things - just buy some if those and buy the ingredients while you are there

Pearl barley, tin of tomatoes, lamb stock, diced lamb, leek, swede or parsnip, carrots, onion, mushrooms, bouquet garni, any other veg you have. Fill the stock to an inch below the top of the pot. Cook on high for 8 hours.

Gammon joint. Cover with cider. Cook on high for 4 hours

Whole chicken. Add a bit of water to the bottom, an inch or so. Cook on high for four hours. (Some don't add any water, but i prefer to as i've tried both and it came out a bit dry without.)

5 cans of different beans - baked/kidney/ black eye/butter/ mixed beans. Packet of chilli con carne mix, tin of chopped toms.

Bung it all in cooker ( make up the chilli mix with however much water it says on the packet) for about 5 hours or more. Mash up about a third of it with a couple spoons of brown sugar, put the mashed up stuff back in the cooker, stir it up and serve.
It's really nice and super cheap.

Easy Chicken Curry

1 chicken (cut into pieces & washed)
1 desert spoon each of coriander, cumin, curry powder
1/2 to full spoon of turmeric powder
chilli powder depending on taste (I put a spoon)
salt (depending on taste)
garlic & ginger (fresh, powder or paste)
2 medium onions sliced thinly
bayleaf optional
fresh coriander to garnish (optional)

I just bung it all in & cook it on low for 8 hours with enough water to cover chicken.

If you have time then I recommend that you fry the onions & salt until semi soft. Then add the spices & cook for a further 10 mins. Add a bit of water if the spice mix starts to stick.
Add the chicken to the spice mix and brown before putting it in the slow cooker. You will notice that the spices will be a lot more intense after frying.

Throw in pork shoulder steaks, shallots, 1 apple (peeled and sliced) and enough chicken stock to just cover.

Cook for a whole afternoon or longer then stir in a bit of creme fraiche or double cream just before serving with green beans and mashed potato.

Goes down a storm with my picky lot

Pork shoulder, few glugs of Dr Pepper, high for 8 hours. Drain juices, shred the pork and eat in bread rolls with BBQ sauce. Yum!

Wow didn't expect to get so many so quick! You are all geniuses! And I'm ok with tin sauce iwish! I feel like I'm always cooking the same meals and my 18month old has decided he doesn't want afternoon naps so cooking tea while he's very upset running after me is getting rather difficult!

Super quick.....chopped onion, a pack of diced beef, a bag of frozen casserole mix and a pint of stock......bung it all in first thing in the morning on high and leave all day till you're ready for it :)

always brown the meat first... sausages especially unless you want a flaccid penis casserole..

I once cut up and browned sausages then slowcooked.

The skin rolled back on most of them. Looked like lots of mini penises (penisi? peni?) with little foreskins.

I love this lentil and bacon soup recipe, it's so easy and comes out perfect every time.

I use normal bacon instead of turkey bacon.

one of my best recipes is gammon casserole... chop up a small gammon joint (they are in the 3 for £10 range in sainsburys) .. add chicken stock, carrots, celery, swede, onion, and dried soup mix.. a bit of garlic and pepper... leave for at least 7 hours...

it is lovely..

Pack of chicken portions, good splurge of frozen sweetcorn, chopped up onion & mushrooms. 2 tins condensed mushroom soup, cook on low for 6h. Serve with mash or pasta if you want.

Roast chicken

switch on sc on high
unwrap chicken
lift sc lid
put chicken in sc
put lid back on
come back 6-8 hours later and serve

Lamb casserole

2 x packs of diced lamb
2 x potatoes
2 x carrots
2 x onions
Rosemary, garlic, a pint of chicken stock, some plain flour

Serves 4. I usually do serve it with green beans and mashed potato.

Coat the meat in some flour, then brown the meat with the garlic and rosemary. The coating in flour really is just to thicken the casserole, and the browning is to make it less anaemic, as others have said.

Chop the potatoes carrots and onions and bung everything in the slow cooker on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours (low is better)

I do the same as sashh OP but with a leg of lamb. If I'm feeling very smug, I'll slip cloves of garlic into some holes I've made into the joint first before bunging it into the SC.

Also, the cheapest cuts of beef can be the most succulent coming out. Beef brisket, I think (sp?)

Meat (whatever one you want and enough for all of you)
chopped up veg,
garlic and herbs to taste and a stock cube to match the main meat
Bung in for 8 hours.
Thicken with gravy granules for beef or lamb, or use a touch of cornflour for chicken (or chicken gravy granules)
Ta Da.. its as simple as that for a fillling stew.
If you use king edwards potatoes, they 'dissolve' partially and thicken the stew too. really filling and soooo easy.

marking place, haven't slow cooked for ages.

Put chunks of leek and carrot in bottom of cooker. Place half leg of lamb on top (I cut as much fat as I can off first). Scatter over some thyme and stock powder, then pour over a tin of tomatoes. Cook on high for an hour, the low for 6 or 7

Roast chicken.

500ml whitewine
900ml veg stock
Potatoes
Carrots
Onion
Whole chicken

Whole lot in. 4 or 5 hours on high.

I love the slow cooker.

I use these packets of Hidden Valley Ranch dressing (powdered) that I buy in the US to add to a lot of them (but not if it already has a lot going on) and this has made me love my slow cooker even more.
