How were your ribs Saski?

If the meat is less fatty you can balance it on carrots and water to give it more moisture while cooking.

If my meat has ended up dry, as it did with a roll of silverside once. I slice it up and give it some time in the juices at the bottom, problem solved.

Saski, I guess you could do it with the bones in, but the meat goes so tender that I'd worry about it falling off the bone and then having to fish all the bones out!

I do sliced new potatoes, baby (or chopped) carrots and leeks, sliced up and put in the slow cooker with honey and wholegrain mustard mixed together and poured over on low for 8-10 hours.

Then (depending on how many I'm cooking for and if it will fit) I put a joint of gammon on top, with cloves in and some brown sugar on the top.

Looking for a slow cooker recipe that I can do for some veggie friends coming to supper (they will eat fish). I'm not a confident cook, so I'd like to make it in advance, test it first on family, and if they don't reel back in disgust, freeze the rest of it. These friends are pretty red-hot cooks themselves, so it would be good to have something that looks like I've made a bit of an effort (which indeed I am prepared to do!). Most slow-cooker recipe books don't tell you whether you can freeze or not, which is irritating if you are not smart enough to work it out for yourself.

Today we are having beef casserole in slow cooker. Pretty much bung in meat, veggies, seasoning and for liquid use ale. Will serve with Yorkshires and roasted leeks/parsnips. Dds lemon cheesecake for pud.
First challenge is to actually get out of bed though......

@ Bumpotato
I made your rice pudding recipe and it was lovely. I used flaked rice and cooked it fours hours on low. Having the leftover cold for brekkie this morning
