Here we are, a lovely shiny, new thread just in time for Xmas.

Ouch, the staples shouldn't hurt too much coming out. They are usually more painful while they are in. Have you got decent pain relief? Our hospital give you vvv strong cocodamol and voltarol (diclofenac) after a section but some are reluctant to give you the cocodamol if you are bf and will only give you paracetamol. You can buy solpadiene max over the counter, it is stronger than ordinary cocodamol but less than the v strong ones (and you CAN take them while bf despite what is says on the packet)

And NO! Sit and watch your dp wrapping! That is a stern midwife command! < puts on stern face>

You are looking stunning in your blue dress and tea towel!

Staples! Shock What? Why? And how on earth are you able to type coherently? My first few weeks after DD's birth is a blur of pain.

Over in House of Snow, I think DH and I are going to have to really start watching what we say around Mini Snow. She's most definitely picking up things and repeating them at what seems to be an increasingly alarming rate. Now Mummy and Daddy are fine but today she said Oppam Gangnam Style. Hmm

StateofConfusion · 24/12/2012 23:08

I bloody wish shaky I have paracetamol and ibruprofen! I know its the staples causing the pain as one end hasn't been done neatly iyswim and there's been a discomfort there since the spinal wore off. Now its a pinchy stabby bastard pain. I can't stand sit or lie down without feeling like its pinching, midwife wasn't impressed at all as its making my recovery harder and its in my notes I had very quick healing scars with ds and dd.

Lily is brilliant though, sometimes she insists on sleeping on me --or my bfing v pillow but I'm not sposed to admit that, but its when me and dp are both sat in the living room with her-- but she sleeps, which is all that matters! Last night she went down in the pram for 3 1/2 hours, I woke up feeling most confused ha!

dreamy she makes me broody, its insane, I look her and think oooh I'd love another one of you! Then get all teary and stupid as she is my last, I know now I can't do this again. But I'm enjoying every second of her.

snowtunesgirl · 24/12/2012 23:08

And did someone say directing? It's been a while since I directed!

snowtunesgirl · 24/12/2012 23:09

Woah. 3 1/2 hours is amazing! Shock Grin

StateofConfusion · 24/12/2012 23:19

Xmas Grin snow that's hilarious

This is terrible really but its a venting tool me and dp use when the dcs are naughty we refer to them, what we thought out of earshot, to each other as shit 1 and shit 2 (like thing 1 and 2 from cat in the hat) anyway, dd was being trying yesterday and me and dp had a mutter next thing we hear is ds, "oi shit 2 mum and dad are talking about you" I was mortified but couldn't help but laugh!

ShakySingsMerryXmasEveryone · 24/12/2012 23:20

make sure it tablets not soluble, the soluble ones have caffeine in and you will never ever sleep.

You will feel much, much better when the staples are out, I promise.

3 1/2 hours in the pram! Wow! Merry Xmas!

I'm really glad to hear that shaky I'm coping really well this time, with ds dp picked up a lot of the slack, dd1 had me in a mess by day 3 and I gave her a bottle in floods of tears, we did still bf for a year but that bottle remained every night as I'd loose the plot the same time, maybe I've grown up a lot but Lily is a lot easier. So these fecking staples are pissing me right off!

ShakySingsMerryXmasEveryone · 24/12/2012 23:32

State you are amazing! I only managed to bf for 10 weeks and given everything that I know I was very Blush about it. Just another stick to beat myself with.

It's like the tesco advert, every little helps!

I struggled feeding ds, he was on formular top ups from day one (prem, grunting, blood sugar ishoos) and I felt guilty for ages, especially as since around 2 he's been all about Daddy. But now he and dd are no different, just as healthy and he's a high acheiver apparently! So thanks for that aptamil Grin

Feeding this times going really well, no on going pain at all, I do wince abit when she first latches after a long gap as she's a greedy bugger and is rough but after that initial gulp I re-latch her and its fine, the mws in hospital couldn't believe it, I can't take credit I've no idea what I'm doing, but Lily does!

ShakySingsMerryXmasEveryone · 24/12/2012 23:42

Go lily Xmas Grin

Merry Xmas everyone, I'm off to bed. I hope you all have a lovely time.

I'm still BFing Mini Show but she's a food monster now so doesn't really ask for it. Sad I miss the days when she was super tiny and I could just go out with her well wrapped up and a change bag as had milk, will travel.

ShakySingsMerryXmasEveryone · 25/12/2012 00:44

I'm in bed and snuggling under the duvet.

I am going to put the iPad down, go to sleep and it will be Xmas when I wake up. Goodnight and merry Christmas to you all Xmas Grin

EmpressOfTheNorthPole · 25/12/2012 01:34

I'm back now, been making samosas & cheese scones for tomorrow, anyone still awake?

Luffly teatowel, State, hope Baby Jesus is snug asleep.

Snowy, I bet Mini Snow would make a gorgeous lamb. Or Assistant Angel?

Merry Christmas xxxx

StateofConfusion · 25/12/2012 01:39

Jesus is asleep, dps finally finished the wrapping so I'm now off to sleep, I hope.

Oh and to add to the bloody staples I have the toy of injections to prevent blood clots, they don't do the correct dose though so I get two jabs at a time, two! Dps pretty good at doing them tbh, but christ could they make those first days any bloody grimmer! (Sp)

EmpressOfTheNorthPole · 25/12/2012 01:45

((((((( ))))))))

God, poor you.

Hope you sleep well, Madonna, & the lowing oxen don't keep you awake.

DD's still up. She went to bed and reappeared an hour later 'too excited to sleep'. At least it means we'll all get a lie in.

ShakySingsMerryXmasEveryone · 25/12/2012 10:34

Good morning and merry Christmas everyone!

DreamyDreaminOfAWhiteChristmas · 25/12/2012 14:37

Merry Christmas Puddlehumpers!!

Dh got me a kindle, but the screen has a chip. Xmas Sad Amazon say a replacement will be here by Friday.

Well done on the bfing Lily! Baby dreamy was such a guzzler, I thought we'd be fine, but his gums feel like razorblades. Xmas Sad Tongue tie will be sorted asap after new year.

StateofConfusion · 25/12/2012 15:25

Merry Christmas Puddle!

Absolute chaos here, looks like toysrus but there is 3 dcs this year, and now ! Ds and dd have both had the obligatory break downs, Lily being a clingy bugger and won't go in the pram, but she did for 4 1/2hrs last night!!! So I've got her in the sling snoozing whilst dp cooks.

EmpressOfTheNorthPole · 25/12/2012 15:25

Kindles are fabulous, Dreamy. Glad they're going to sort the tongue tie.
is DreamyBoy enjoying himself?

Tee2072 · 25/12/2012 17:55

Evenin' all.

Urgh. Calling for duvet day tomorrow. Husband concurs.

Sounds like everyone had lovely days, I'm so glad!

Merry Christmas again!

StateofConfusion · 25/12/2012 18:52

Anyone else wonder why they bother sometimes? I've carefully shopped and budgeted (sp) since June for christmas and to say ds and dd have been rotten doesn't cover it, stroppy, moody and ungrateful, my brother and sister are here with Mum and her DH and ds had a strop as dbro got a leappad tablet thingy and he didn't, but we got him an ipod touch for his birthday, no amount of explaining would get through to him that yes dbro had x y and z, but he also had a b and c that he didn't have!! Exasperating doesn't cover it! Dd is screamy and stroppy about everything so they're now in bed, here's to an evening with babystate who's been no bother as always!

DreamySleepyPostTurkeySnooze · 25/12/2012 20:47

Xmas Sad Hope they're better behaved tomorrow State.

Dreamy boy has had a fantastic day thanks Empress. He took hours to open his presents because he played with each one as he opened them. He's loved every minute! He was in bed by 6.30 though, all the excitement tired him out and he was starting to get a bit tearful. Baby dreamy has been lovely too, cooing and smiling at everyone!
