Here we are, a lovely shiny, new thread just in time for Xmas.

OP posts:
TeeElfOnTeeShelf · 23/12/2012 20:30

Thanks Olivia Happy Christmas. Xmas Grin

Great picture State.

I have officially barricaded myself in until the 27th. MrT and LT are heading back to City Centre tomorrow to give me some space to start prep and let me be alone a bit. This introvert would lose her mind otherwise. I'm really sorry father in law is ill but not very sorry they won't be here for Christmas, TBH. We'll see them as soon as he's better, though.

I have come up with a flaw in my plan to watch Grey's and make things as both my recipes and the ability to watch Grey's in the kitchen need my tablet. I can only do one or the other. Total first world problem!

BrianCoxIsAChristmasPud · 23/12/2012 21:41

Aw, State, saw that pic on your FB and it is beautiful - DD was very impressed that you have a Christmas baby just like her Grin

I am stumbling in to offer some of DD's Smartie cake and then I'm back off again as I am bloody exhausted. Is it just me or are birthday's exhausting?? DD had a lovely day and I just need sleep [snores]

Not sure I'll get back on before the big day so just want to wish you all a very happy, healthy and peaceful Christmas.

Lots of festive love n stuff

Me

xx

Happy birthday briangirl Xmas Grin ta for the cake, looks wonderful now go put your feet up! X

Merry christmas Olivia are you taps running gin yet?

tee obviously you need another tablet! --or you could write the recipes out but what fun is that--

EmpressOfTheNorthPole · 23/12/2012 23:14

Dreamy, she says yes so I'll have it up by tomorrow.

Luffly cake, thanks Brian. Glad it went well.

State Grin It's a perfect Messianic name you know. Lily means purity or peace, Mary covers the mum of the last one AND her Auntie Olivia, and Hope speaks for itself. Watch for unexpected visitors.

Tee, State's right, two tablets!

StateofConfusion · 24/12/2012 00:36

Best get dp to prep the stable Xmas Grin

He's at tescos atm, all the dcs are asleep, I'm exhausted and can't drop off

EmpressOfTheNorthPole · 24/12/2012 00:48

If Tee has two tablets will that make her Moses?

ShakySingsMerryXmasEveryone · 24/12/2012 01:03

Tee I had a meltdown tonight! Surrounded by a million presents, all needing wrapping, got completely overwhelmed, had a bit of a wobbler.. However, I did manage to sort it out, carry on.. One panic attack later and I was back in control again.

Fecking depression and anxiety are a massive pain in the arse

Good on you for getting it under control and carrying on, Shaky.

EmpressOfTheNorthPole · 24/12/2012 04:30

Here's the scone recipe, Dreamy.

Ingredients:
225g (8oz) self raising flour
2.5ml (1/2tsp) salt
40g (1 1/2oz) butter
60ml (4tbsp) fresh soured cream
60ml (4tbsp) fresh milk
One small finely chopped red onion
Handful of finely chopped chives

Fry the onion for about 5 minutes.

Sift flour & salt into a bowl.

Rub butter into flour until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.

Add cream, milk, onion & chives all at once. Mix to a soft, but not sticky, dough with a knife.

Turn out onto a lightly floured work surface. Knead quickly until smooth.

Roll out to about 1cm thickness.

The book says to cut into 7 or 8 rounds but DW normally gets more.

Transfer onto a greased tray. Brush tops with milk.

Bake at 230C/450F/Gas mark 8 for 7 - 10 minutes or until well risen and golden.

We have one Co-op box of chocolates which we thought he wouldn't see on top of the cupboard...as soon as he walked into the kitchen he said 'what's that?!' Deffo my son. Xmas Smile

StateofConfusion · 24/12/2012 08:21

Hope you all getting on with wrapping and not sittinga round drinking like me. (I am only drinking sparkling grape juice, but I love it!)

giraffesCantFlyLikeReindeer · 24/12/2012 18:42

state that photo made me all tearful AWWW

TeeElfOnTeeShelf · 24/12/2012 19:54

Those flowers are gorgeous Giraffes. I can't even imagine how ExPat is feeling tonight.

I am finished for the evening and about to open a bottle of Wine and watch some TV. Ready for the big day!

ShakySingsMerryXmasEveryone · 24/12/2012 20:08

Thank you everyone, much better today after my wobble last night. I'm usually very organised and calm but since I have been ill I have found it difficult to do anything. NEXT year, I vow to wrap each present on the day that I buy it. So glad that I finished the wrapping last night and haven't got to do it tonight.

Shakyboy is fast asleep. Edgar the elf went back to the help Santa deliver the presents. He left a present in the bathroom, new pjs! Ds refused point blank to wear them because they are short sleeved

Merry Christmas everyone! Xmas Grin

SantaKissedBonkeyMollocks · 24/12/2012 20:15

TeeElfOnTeeShelf · 24/12/2012 20:18

LT actually asked to go to bed at 615! Now he'll be up at 530...

Bottle of wine just opened. Box of chocs sent by SIL and sitting under the tree being eyed up...

EmpressOfTheNorthPole · 24/12/2012 20:48

Merry Christmas, Puddlehumpers!

(My phone's learned to spell Puddlehumpers) Grin

DW and I wrapped DD's presents last night when she was in bed, DD and I wrapped DW's presents this afternoon while she was out, hopefully at some point the two of them will have wrapped mine!

Have you seen the Fairytale of New York thread? It's brilliant.

ShakySingsMerryXmasEveryone · 24/12/2012 20:59

It's great Empress

Santa has left ds a note! Xmas Grin

I still need to do his stocking and bring down the presents.

OP posts:
EmpressOfTheNorthPole · 24/12/2012 21:09

I saw, Shaky Grin

DD bought 3 stockings with her own money today and she and I stuffed them this afternoon as a surprise for DW. She also decided she wanted some of her presents in a lucky dip so that's my job for tonight once she's gone to bed!

DreamyDreaminOfAWhiteChristmas · 24/12/2012 21:17

Glad you're doing better Shaky. I hated wrapping this year. Had to do a little at a time when Ds1 was at school and Ds2 was napping, and Ds2 does not like napping. Xmas Angry I just wanted to get it done.

Gorgeous flowers giraffes. Xmas Smile

Please thank your Dw Empress. I can't wait to make those scones.

Hope your Dd had a fantastic birthday, Brian. The cake looked great! And the photo you just put on fb of your Dd cuddling your bump is lovely.

We are having a glass of sparkling wine before I sneak into Ds1's room to get his stocking and fill it. He stayed up to watch The Snowman and the Snowdog, and loved it. I had to try very hard not to cry!

ShakySingsMerryXmasEveryone · 24/12/2012 21:38

Away in a puddle
No bunfights for us
Just snuggles and hot tubs
And lovely back rubs
To all the puddlehumpers
I love you so much
So have some Naice cakes
And a big glass of punch!
Xmas Grin
