Man on Fire with Denzel Washington.

Roobie · 23/03/2005 16:14

Without question it has to be "Shadowlands" with Anthony Hopkins as CS Lewis and Debra Winger - I have never watched anything so sad........

haggered · 23/03/2005 16:15

Who will love my children !!!! areal tear jerker

Preggars · 23/03/2005 16:16

Agree Kaleigh, its got to be 'The Champ'. OMG. Cried so much watching this. Remembering sobbing and then one of my neighbours knocked on the front door and I had to answer as I was the only one in. I felt like a right idiot with tear stained face. She thought I was having some sort of life trauma.

Remember crying a lot watching the thorn birds (I was an emotional child!).

Kayleigh · 23/03/2005 16:18

Preggars, do you watch NYPD Blue? Ricky Schroder grew up very nicely indeedy

Preggars · 23/03/2005 16:18

Agree Haggered 'who will love my children' - is sooo sad.

I love a good cry me. Haven't seen a tear jerker in ages.

Preggars · 23/03/2005 16:18

Kayleigh - mmm. yes, he is mighty fine.

mancmum · 23/03/2005 16:20

killing fields

Preggars · 23/03/2005 16:27

oh, and biblical epics often make me cry. I wish there were more on tv. Not that I get the odd spare 3/4 hours to sit on my bum anymore!

Nikkichik · 23/03/2005 16:27

I've never see Bambi - probably cos I know it's sad. MIL has just bought this film for dd who is only 3 - should I let her watch it or wait a while!

rogan2001 · 23/03/2005 17:29

Fluke, the man reincarnated as a dog, i just sob most of the way thru it. the book is one of my all time faves too.

golds · 23/03/2005 17:32

I was obsessed with him as had a young mad crush, made me sob and sob and the music uughhhh. Now I see it and think gawd how soppy was I.

Wuthering heights (version with Ralph fiennes, found it V V disturbing during PND !!!

And agree with most of the others ,but couldnt face sitting through them at all now. I cry enough as it is !!

Beauty and the Beast (Disney) - best cartoon ever
Anastasia (cartoon)
I am Sam
Terms of Endearment when her children come to visit in hospital
Starman when he tells her he has given her a baby
My Girl - the funeral - oh-my-god
Meet me in St Louis - when Judy sings Have yourself a merry little christmas
Field of Dreams - not really sad, but blub at the end
Phenomenon

cupcakes · 23/03/2005 18:37

Dumbo
Beaches
Sommersby (bad film except for it's uncanny ability to get we sobbing)
Edward Scissorhands
It's a Wonderful Life
Shawshank Redemption
Dr Zhivago
Have only seen the scene at the station in Sophie's Choice and that was enough for me - too sad to think about.

SeaShells · 23/03/2005 19:00

I try to stear clear of sad movies, but of the ones I've seen, the top ones I can think of have to be..

Deep Impact
Titanic
Jude
Wuthering Heights
Gladiator
A cry in the dark
Saving private Ryan

And agree with Forever Young and the scene in Notting hill with the bench.

vict17 · 23/03/2005 19:03

I have been known to cry when Simba's dad dies in The Lion King and later on when he looks at the sky and hears his dad's voice...

helsi · 23/03/2005 19:04

Mine are:

Go towards the Light
Ghost
Jack and Sarah
Watership Down (still can't watch it)
Bambi (yes I know!!)
Titanic

there are probably some more but can't think.
