Absolutely skint at the moment so I won’t be watching this in the cinema but will wait till it comes to one of the platforms but OMG I am so excited!

Just read some reviews and they’re all singing its praises, apparently the best one yet! I loved both of the first 2 and as far as I’m concerned they’ll always be 2 of the best zombie movies made - please let me know if you go to see this and what you think, I shall live vicariously through your experiences until I get to see it 😄

I love Young Fathers so am very excited for the soundtrack (and as a local band for me, excited for them to be involved in something so big- one of them used to be my friends upstairs neighbour)
Is it very jump-scary? I’m really looking forward to seeing it but don’t want to make an arse of myself in the pictures!

This is why I’m kind of glad to be watching this at home - I remember watching I am legend at the cinema and being pulled into a false sense of security due to how slow the film was initially but then jumping out of my seat!

I'm going next weekend. Mostly excited to see Cheddar Gorge as I'm local and they filmed there.

RedSuedePump · 20/06/2025 22:19

Went tonight - cried loads so have awful puffy eyes now - wasn't expecting that. love Northumberland and have been to Holy Island loads so loved seeing all those locations. Wasn't quite what i expected and a few WTF moments but i wasn't disappointed!

Rollergirl11 · 20/06/2025 22:58

Just back. Loved it. So happy not to be disappointed. The ending went a bit Tarantino but was excellent and has set up nicely for the next one. Soundtrack was on point.

I’ve been fascinated by Holy Island ever since I was a little girl. There’s something so cosy but spooky about the sea cutting you off at night. I remember being convinced that we were moments from disaster whenever my parents drove across the strait 😂. Does anybody remember a weird, live 24 hour long drama thing starring John Sim filmed on Lindisfarne a few years ago??

Usernamenotavailable19 · 20/06/2025 23:42

Saw this tonight. I thought it was insanely good!

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 20/06/2025 23:46

Seen the first but cant really remember it but found this quite moving!! Didn't feel it was as tense and thought it be but really enjoyed it and glad there isnt a long wait till the next.

The ending was bonkers lol

Are you talking about The Third Day with Jude Law that was filmed on Osea Island? They did a live 24 hours that was like immersive theatre.

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 20/06/2025 23:58

@Rollergirl11 that’s it! For some reason I thought it was filmed on Lindisfarne.

Usernamenotavailable19 · 21/06/2025 10:19

This is definitely a film that needs to be seen on the big screen

Laiste · 21/06/2025 22:33

Just been to see it.

Thought the first 2 thirds was good, almost exhausting in it's scary pace once they're out in the mainland ...

But - i thought it all went a bit questionable once they got to the docs ect ect

The ending just spoilt it IMO. Jimmy fecking Savile ???

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 21/06/2025 23:15

While obviously that doesn’t give away a huge amount about the ending (although WTF?!), it might be worth starting a new thread for those of us who haven’t seen it yet, or at least putting (spoilers) in the thread title. I’m quite looking forward to going in with no idea of what’s going to happen.

SocksAndTheCity · 21/06/2025 23:54

There are two threads already (I posted on this one by mistake the other day thinking it was the original one, which is not very well hidden about halfway down this page).

I've seen it today, and I agree the above post is going to spoil things for those who haven't.

Loved days, hated months. Why on earth move people to the isle of dogs when there is no clear perimeter view and still going to be dogs and rats eating the bodies and spreading it? I will watch years when it comes out on streaming. It looks very different.

Did you see a special unreleased version of months? Because it doesn’t actually exist 😁

That sounds interesting - is that the guy from "Life on Mars"? Can you recall the title @BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop@?is it similar to Jude Law in "The Third Day" where they filmed the festival live in a continuous take for 12 hours on Osea Island?

I love those folk horror kind of set ups.
I showed my DS 28 Days later, as I was working in London at the time it was made and I remember Capital FM announcing that they were closing Westminster Bridge to film it at dawn. Was very exciting.

Watching it again after so many years, the only thing my son was a bit "eh?!" about was what on earth those Animal rights activitists were actually going to do with those chimps when they released them? Pop them all into a Black Cab and send them to a Travelodge? 😅 I honestly couldn't remember what anti-vivisectionists used to do with all the animals back in the day.

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 22/06/2025 00:06

@Tomatocutwithazigzagedge a kind poster above clarified it was The Third Day I was thinking about. So it turns out I remember nothing about at all apart from the 24 hour aspect 😂.

I was commenting to my brother last night (we’re both old enough to have seen 28 Days Later at the pictures when it first came out) that the problem is that every z-word movie that came out after Days looks like Days, so it’s really difficult to imagine how fresh it was when released. I am not a horror fan in general but I do make an exception for certain, very good horror movies.

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 22/06/2025 00:08

PS I’ve had a couple of glasses of wine so this is when I am going to release one of my ultimate boasts- I met (fangirled at) Danny Boyle in Selfridges stationary hall in 2012 and he was absolutely lovely. If anybody would like to hear more details, I am happy to talk about it at length whenever I am given the opportunity 😂

Ah I took so long trying to edit my post I missed that. 😅 Shame, your envisioned one sounds very cool. 😂👍

My friends partner was one of the film crew on the Third Day. They had to go and live on Osea, camped out together. One of them most interesting things he's donevin his career apparently!

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 22/06/2025 00:15

Wow! I love hearing stories like that. I haven’t watched it yet, but would be interested to.

I didn’t realise 28YL is part of a trilogy, the next instalment is due in January.

Gettingbysomehow · 22/06/2025 07:34

I'm off to see it this morning. I always go to the morning showing. No teenagers mucking about and chucking popcorn.

FknOmniShambles · 22/06/2025 07:37

Saw it yesterday. Went to the 10:15 viewing so it was us and about two other couples. Heaven.
Loved the film. As a former north-easterner, I loved tribute is paid to the beautiful scenery. Very different film than I expected but I liked the fact it wasn't a mindless zombie-fest. Far superiors to 28 weeks, which is the weakest by far, IMO

Hoppinggreen · 22/06/2025 07:42

Sorry to be pedantic but there are no Zombies in any of the 28 films.
Having got that out of the way I am looking forward to seeing it, we were going to go last night but I was too hot to be arsed get dressed properly.
I think its planned as 1 of 3 (more)

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 22/06/2025 09:08

@Hoppinggreen of course not, just the infected. These movies and Shaun of The Dead!
It is a trilogy, the next part’s out in January. Danny Boyle has confirmed Jim
is in the next part.

Sunnysidegold · 22/06/2025 09:23

Spoilers here.

Saw it last night. I am a bit hormonal at the moment and sobbed so much. Really wasn't expecting to do that.

The little boy playing Spike was brilliant I thought. He is the same age as my youngest boy and I think I kept thinking of my boy and how he would cope and that really got to me. Got a bit overinvested!

I thought it was really interesting. Glad it's not a whole year to wait for the next one.

The ending was bonkers I agree.

Interested to hear that Cillian Murphy will be featured in the third film but funding hasn't been secured for that one yet I think.
