Cillian Murphy for Bond,
CM would have to really beef up, he looks as though a slight breeze would carry him off. Those eyes though.........

DisforDarkChocolate · 27/04/2025 21:19

Toby Jones as George Smiley. He's perfect.

NeedANapAgain · 27/04/2025 21:25

A young Daniel Day-Lewis as Lestat. He would have made a very sexy vampire.

Thegirlinthegreenscarf · 27/04/2025 21:31

Funny I was just reading that Ian Fleming wanted David Niven as Bond. I think David would have been a good Bond.

David Niven was James Bond - Casino Royale... I love that film. It's a bit of a farce but it looks like they had a great time filming it - and set in the 60s.

I think he scrubs up very well.
(Swoon 😍😍😍).

It looks as if he would get untidy very quickly. Like a boy whose mum has licked down his hair to make it neat... for five minutes.

He's a very good actor - and I know he makes you swoon - but not James Bond for me. Grin

Clive Owen as Bond.
Nearest we got was Shoot em up and Croupier.
Shame.

ClaudiaNaughton · 27/04/2025 21:38

Tom Cruise in his prime (no fillers) as The Talented Mr Ripley.

HarpSnail · 27/04/2025 21:39

RipleyJones · 26/04/2025 17:23

Hugh Grant as Gilderoy Lockhart

Yes, have always thought this!

This may not count, as it’s a novel adaptation that never got filmed, but Philip Seymour Hoffman as Bunny in Donna Tartt’s The Secret History.

i was just about to type this!! Such a shame, he would have been an amazing James Bond. I would have loved Idris Elba too, sadly both are a bit too old now.

SingingWaffleDoggy · 27/04/2025 21:54

Top 3 for Bond:
Henry Cavill
Rege Jean Page
Jonathan Bailey

Yes to Kate Winslet as Bridget, Hugh as Lockheart and Adam as Snape.

Helena Bonham Carter as the ‘mother’ in Tangled

Honestly Google is getting worse Confused thanks for the fact check, will see if I can find it anywhere Grin

Yes! So perfect.

Intranslation · 27/04/2025 22:30

Sean Evans from Endeavour as Sirius Black. Also, they should remake the original Inspector Morse ad soon as he's old enough to reprise the role

Daniel radcliffe as James bond

…sorry, what?

Mistyglade · 27/04/2025 22:33

Christ, imagine watching Daniel Radcliffe doing a seductive sex scene as Bond. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Karmakamelion · 27/04/2025 22:34

Snorlaxo · 27/04/2025 17:31

Yes he’d be good - he can handle the stunts, would look great in a tux etc I wonder if he’d be out of budget though.

The worry is that Amazon have bought the Bond rights so could they go woke and hire someone who isn’t white?

Edited

Why would it matter if Bond wasn't white?

Stickortwigs · 27/04/2025 22:35

Robbie Coltrane as Strike
Ralph Fiennes as Count Rostoff in a Gentleman in Moscow. Ewen McGregor is an appalling choice.

…as would Daniel Radcliffe be as bond.

RoseAndGeranium · 27/04/2025 22:36

Snorlaxo · 27/04/2025 17:29

I‘m wondering if OP will be back to say she meant a different actor rather than Daniel Radcliffe.

It was just about the last example I expected. The only person I can think of who’s be worse is James Corden.

Atarin · 27/04/2025 21:45

He really would. He’s perfect.

Idris Elba I disagree with though. He was amazing as Stringer Bell but so wooden in everything since.

Mistyglade · 27/04/2025 22:33

Oh god I can’t. Imagine his eyes, anxious, wide, pleading for the merciful release of sudden death.

And young Gwyneth Paltrow as Camilla.

BethDutton4President · 27/04/2025 22:55

Sorry but Adrien Brody will forever be Snape for me. That nose!

BeNiceWhenItsFinished · 27/04/2025 23:06

sissygirl23 · 27/04/2025 19:48

Clive Owen would have been a good Bond.

I think so too.

BeNiceWhenItsFinished · 27/04/2025 23:11

Why wasn't Robert Carlyle in any of the Harry Potter films, that's what I want to know.

Oh and I think Hugh Laurie would have been a good Gilderoy Lockhart.
