I defo recommend 👌
I watched it last week and it was one of the best films I've seem this year. Phoebe was magnificent and I felt like I was watching classic Indie from the 80's. I didnt want the film to finish!

I really liked it too. DH and I skived off to watch it on Thursday morning. I can’t understand the bad reviews

ModerationInEverything · 03/07/2023 08:07

I totally agree. All of the classic elements, just really enjoyable. I wish the technology that they used to make him younger could be applied to me!

I enjoyed it.

It was a bit samey at times. Lots of chases of various forms but I guess that's what you should expect with Indiana Jones.

That technology was amazing! I was totally baffled by it!

I saw it yesterday, whizzed me back to being a child - I loved it!

BillyNoM8s · 03/07/2023 08:11

We didn't enjoy it. I could've done with an hour less of chase scenes and the kids were not keen on the time travel element.

I don't know why no one makes 90 minute films any more.

Twattle · 03/07/2023 08:12

I think the people who wrote the reviews went in with a bias mindset or didn't watch the film.

I loved the time travel. When they flew over and saw the sails. I was like oh shit.

Are there lots of in jokes? Do you need an encyclopaedic knowledge of all the previous films to enjoy it?

madamepresident · 03/07/2023 08:24

I loved it - and my hard to please teenager enjoyed it too !

EnjoyingTheSilence · 03/07/2023 08:30

We get back from holiday on weds and the 1st thing I want to do is see this!!

I love the Indy films 1,2 & 3 (let’s ignore the last one!). Really hoping this goes back to the classic Indy story

No, just the things that most people know. Like he doesn't like snakes.

I liked it, especially compared to the fourth film, but i felt it lacked some of the charm of the earlier films. There were quite a few "in" jokes which I enjoyed and the age-regression technology was superb. Overall it was a very entertaining romp though could have been 30 minutes shorter. When we saw it yesterday a couple of families with young children (under 8ish) left halfway through. Phoebe Waller-Bridge was an excellent, feisty female lead too.

Morewineplease10 · 03/07/2023 09:12

Going to see it in a few days, can't wait! Love IJ and PWB even more!

Ha this made me laugh, mainly because since having DS, DH and I always moan when we see anything we went to watch on Netflix or prime etc is on more than 2 hours. it’s like, I need to go to bed at 10 do film makers not have kids?
We had to watch the new Avatar over 3 nights 😂

Bennyjoon · 03/07/2023 18:58

Oh that’s good to hear. I’m going next week but was feeling apprehensive after the last film which was completely and utterly shite!

hattie43 · 03/07/2023 19:10

Saw it last night and really enjoyed it .

ZombieBeryl · 03/07/2023 19:52

I hated it. Charmless. Souless. Barely anyone in the audience laughed. It felt really flat to me. I would love to talk through how I think the script could have been better but don't want to give spoilers!

mizu · 04/07/2023 17:59

I am really looking forward to this and my DDs 18 and 17 are going to come with me. I adore Harrison Ford and have done since my dad took me to see The Empire Strikes Back when I was young.

I think I probably know the 2nd film word for word I watched it so much as a teen.

Phoebe Waller Bridge is the icing on the cake!

TheGreenSketch · 04/07/2023 18:09

@ZombieBeryl Agreed, it was a wholly soulless caper. No idea what PWB arc was supposed to be at all, and however ace people think her she didn’t have the charisma required to make her character likeable. I think it was chopped around a bit, and it shows.

LMNT · 04/07/2023 18:12

We loved it too! It was good fun and much more like the other Indiana Jones movies (except the awful one we don't include).

We never listen to the critics.

BitOutOfPractice · 04/07/2023 18:13

My DC (film studies undergraduate!) lived it too. They said it was very enjoyable.

Caravanvirgin · 04/07/2023 18:15

I really enjoyed it. It was fun. Just like the old films without the casual sexual assault.

Fairislefandango · 04/07/2023 18:16

I love Indiana Jones but am in two minds about going to see this one since the awful Crystal Skull. Good to hear that some people really liked it. I'm really not a fan of PWB though. I find her infuriatingly luvvie and OTT.

medianewbie · 04/07/2023 18:18

Good to know, thanks OP.
Does anyone know if any of the original movies are on Netflix or Prime to watch in the run-up ? (we're going Sat)
