Rather than movies you got bored with - this is more a couldn’t watch to the end.l, and why, and did you ever get over it and watch it theough.

as always…. I will start.

Trainspotting….

Too close to home. I’m Scottish, grew up in poverty, drink, drugs, violence were the norm for me, so when I was in my twenties and this came out, with a ‘banging’ soundtrack, I had to make sure I saw it. It was the toilet scene that made me turn off and away, as it seemed to show the depths of depravity of the society I grew up in, and had just left by that point. I guess I still knew too many people still in that life.

I did watch it later In life and was a bit more jaded by life and happier in my bubble and so it seemed distant and other worldly to me - overall I’d say a 5 on the IMDb scale.

Life is Beautiful. It was devastating very early in and I couldn't sit through the inevitable end.

CrackedLookingGlass · 18/02/2023 12:39

The Piano Teacher, directed by Michael Haneke. I have loved some of his previous films, and I adore Isabelle Huppert, but the self-mutilation, incest and sexual violence were unwatchable for me. I left the screening during a protracted ‘rape’, which the raped character had instigated, and given written permission for.

Clockwork Orange - just gives me the
rage against male, entitled thuggery, unrestrained violence etc. Maybe just need to persevere to the second half when others get their revenge.

Absolutely the same. Wtf is the point if that film other than shock value?!

From some time ago - The Killing Fields. So unbearably sad.

Magpiecomplex · 18/02/2023 12:42

Avatar. I couldn't stop falling asleep, it's so dull.

Tulipvase · 18/02/2023 12:44

The Joker. It just put me on edge.

I had to Google the end of The Impossible before I could finish watching it, I had 3 similar aged children and the fear of what I would do in that situation was great.

Love, honour and obey... Only went as I was with a group of people from work on a 5 day course in Leeds. Lots of well know BBC type actors, awful film. They bit with the dog food was the last straw.

DontLikeMenthols · 18/02/2023 13:13

There’s been a few actually but most recently a new horror movie called Infinity Pool - pathetically shocking for the sake of it, nothing smart or clever about it just controversial scenes for zero reason.

rookiemere · 18/02/2023 13:14

The Father, with Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Coleman.
It was very well acted, but so bleak and depressing and not unlike what's likely to happen with my own father. Grateful I was watching in Netflix rather than the cinema so I didn't have to watch it all.

Saucery · 18/02/2023 13:17

Wolf Creek. I just snapped out of it like a trance and thought “Why am I watching this, it’s fucking horrible!”. Normally a fan of horror, too.

squeakstick · 18/02/2023 13:27

The nightingale on Netflix. I did actually watch it to the end but I really regret it and this horrible scene often pops into my head and I wish I'd never seen it. Didn't know it would be so gruesome and upsetting.

Andante57 · 18/02/2023 13:28

Parasite
Sexy Beast

Sidge · 18/02/2023 13:45

The Time Travellers Wife.

Tried reading the book. Tried watching the film.

Just can’t get into it at all.

Tidsleytiddy · 18/02/2023 13:51

Born on the Fourth of July. Left the cinema. Awful violence

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 18/02/2023 13:54

The latest Mad Max film, dull. Totally and utterly boring.

Sleepers - just traumatic.

Titanic - those poor children

Surely2023IsTheYearForMyRainbowBaby · 18/02/2023 13:59

Gerard's game. That's 40 mins of my life I'll never get back plus There isn't enough brain bleach in the world to rid that image of that film out of my head

DemiColon · 18/02/2023 14:01

Eyes Wide Shut. At a certain point I just thought, when is this pretentious claptrap going to end? So I turned it off.

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 18/02/2023 14:03

Not a movie, but ‘The Midnight Club’ on Netflix. We had to bail out. It was dreadful, mawkish bolleaux.

Whyisitsososohard · 18/02/2023 14:05

Uncut gems. Started watching it in lockdown so things were stressy anyway. But it's just such a high octane and anxiety riddle film!

I couldn't even start to watch Transpotting, even now, due to childhood trauma and issues.

gettingolderbutcooler · 18/02/2023 15:05

Shotgun wedding. On Prime.
And I usually love a bit of mindless drivel on a rainy Saturday afternoon but it was SHITE.

GracePooleslaugh · 18/02/2023 15:10

Zodiac. It was horrible.

Condundrum · 18/02/2023 15:23

The Exorcist. I got to the head turning scene and had to turn it off. Felt sick to my stomach.. Haven't ever watched it since

RenoDakota · 18/02/2023 15:33

The Banshees of Inisherin. Over hyped crap.
