Every time I am reminded that this man is dead it is sad.
I thought he was fantastic in S&S, although can’t say the same for Hugh Grant 😲
And he was hilarious in Robin Hood.
A great actor, sadly missed.

I sat on a bench in Hyde Park the other day with an Alan Rickman quote inscribed on it. It reminded me what a sad loss it is.

Rainbowsew · 21/09/2021 23:00

I loved him too!

Right from Robin Hood when I was about 15, through Colonel Brandon to present day, he seemed genuinely lovely and others have said whilst not conventionally good looking, his wit and intelligence shone through.

ElectiveAffinities · 21/09/2021 23:20

Young Alan Rickman..........ahhhhh

I saw him in Les Liaisons Dangereuses at the Barbican, which was pretty amazing. And in a few other theatre things as well. Such a loss.

His diaries are being published next year, aren't they?

Holothane · 21/09/2021 23:29

Alan in Die Hard for me, utterly nails it in that film adore that role for over 30 years.

PrincessFiorimonde · 21/09/2021 23:44

Like a previous poster, I first saw him in the theatre, in Les Liaisons Dangereuses. A great actor. I always found him sexy too. It's nice to know that no one who knew or worked with him seems to have a bad word to say about him.

Athenajm80 · 22/09/2021 00:10

I vaguely remembered Stephen Fry saying something about Alan Rickman's voice and a drainpipe, so I googled it and found this article m.goliath.com/movies/10-things-you-probably-didnt-know-about-alan-rickman/

Apparently his voice has been analysed and he had the perfect voice. As if we didn't know that! I loved him in Robin Hood, and Dogma just sealed my crush on him.

upaladderagain · 24/09/2021 22:38

Oh Bunny, thank you for the video! It's given me quite a tingle. What a gorgeous, talented, generous-hearted, heavenly man.

Figgygal · 25/09/2021 19:46

My husband has gone on about truly madly deeply for years I’ve never found it anywhere to watch it

Christ he was sexy

Georgie8 · 25/09/2021 20:00

@DameAlyson
Yes, Slope was my first ‘encounter’ with Alan Rickman: an absolutely amazing performance.
Saw him on stage and screen many a time, but have to say that ‘Galaxy Quest’ was sooo fabulous -still makes me laugh, and cry. I recommend watching that!
Truly, Madly, Deeply is so moving -you need a box if tissues by your side.

Ashard20 · 25/09/2021 20:12

So strange that you have posted that. I've been off with Covid this week and have been rewatching some old favourites. I cried my eyes out, not ten minutes into S and S, just because he is gone. And the World is such a sad place... It almost feels like he belonged in a different era. I've just finished Truly, Madly Deeply and I still feel that sense of loss.

newroundhere · 25/09/2021 20:23

ALAN

newroundhere · 25/09/2021 20:24

He was brilliant, sadly missed

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/09/2021 20:48

@scorpio32

Loved him in Dogma but my favourite Alan Rickman film is Galaxy Quest
He wasn't afraid to send himself up
MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 14/10/2021 19:50

Loved him, and he seems to have been genuinely liked in the industry.

I have to admit to secretly being bored by Truly, Madly, Deeply though - too much crying. I realise this makes me a shallow and terrible person 😀

EwwSprouts · 17/10/2021 21:33

Recently watched Blowdry and he's lovely in that too. It's very much a northern comedy with the most amazing cast.

Disfordarkchocolate · 17/10/2021 21:35

@CheerfulBunny

Sharleen Spiteri looks also completely gorgeous on a garage forecourt here, to be fair

I watch this every time he comes up on a thread. God he was sexy. Blush
sleepyhoglet · 22/10/2021 22:07

He had sex appeal. You can't put your finger on it. It's a mixture of his expressions, voice etc.
