What is this film please?

Ok so a long shot but I remember watching a Tom Cruise film but can’t remember the name of the full story. Helpful, I know! Basically a load of people have to stay in this building that was like a warehouse sort of building. If they left they would be attacked. I can’t remember if it was by aliens or something. Anyway of course Tom Cruise would leave the building with a big gun to go and get supplies..... anyone know what it is called??

Does anyone remember that film about the guy with a disabled son, his wife is murdered and then the son goes missing? There's this girl with amnesia who tries to help him find his son.

Sorry @LongPauseNoAnswer! Literally for months I have been trying to remember it and I can’t! It clearly isn’t a Tom Cruise film.. I have got that far! It is very much a Tom cruise type film though which is probably why I thought he was the lead in it!

No not that one. I don’t know it it helps but it is not a film just on Netflix as I don’t have Netflix, it would have been on sky but that probably doesn’t narrow It down!

Can't help with the film OP but do you use Reddit? There is a sub on there specifically for describing film scenes and they help you ID it. Called Tip of my Tongue. Obviously let us know if you find it out!

Are you sure it’s not Oblivion? If you haven’t watched it recently I’d watch it again just to make sure because I have a feeling you might be misremembering some aspects.

Otherwise War of the worlds would have been my next suggestion, and then the new The Mummy.

Or maybe World War Z? Not Tom Cruise though...

Sure it's not one of the Terminator movies? Hard to narrow down as so many of them now. Christian Bale started in one of them.

Arghh the hospital bit rings a bell, was that in the part of the building that was a underground car park? They also have a soup kitchen type thing handing out supplies to survivors?

Your description rings a bell. No aliens in my recollection though.

The population just could not go outside. They would keel over and die within minutes.

I recall a scene where the main couple were separated by a width of street. The male managed to wrap himself in something airtight and walk/crawl his way across the street to his girl.
They lived their lives and had a child in a shop/foyer of a building.
At the end, when their child was 10 or so a group of similarly aged children arrived, all immune to the effects of outside and took the couple's child with them on their quest to find others...

Probably not your film OP as no aliens to shoot.

To be completely honest at the start of the thread I was adamnent it was Tom cruise... which it clearly isn’t... maybe there weren’t specially aliens but definitely getting shot/killed/vaporised by ‘something’!
