Anyone else seen it? Can we talk about it? Want to check if anyone saw what I thought I saw. So, spoilers allowed.

@boatyardblues I kept thinking that too! Plus, I'm sure a pyroclastic flow moves at over 100kmph. Much suspension of disbelief require (but then again, dinosaur island, so in fitting with the film, I guess!).

sakura06 · 16/06/2018 22:30

Just looked it up and a pyroclastic surge usually travels at about 100 metres per second! And a pyroclastic flow is faster still.

boatyardblues · 16/06/2018 22:47

Quite! There’s no way you could outrun one.

I liked it, bit of daftness for a couple of hours. CP is good at well, being CP, I think he's got a bit of charm.

But I have to say, immediately in front of us was a couple with two girls who must've been about 3 and 4 respectively. They cried real tears of terror at different times, I was appalled that the parents didn't take them out, totally inappropriate. And I'm the mother who let her three year old watch orcs in the Lord of the Rings (totally unfazed by them, bored in fact).
Clearly the parents themselves both wanted to see the film and sod the children, it was awful :(

Just to up the 3D ante, we saw it in 4D at DS's request. We almost got whiplash and I lost a few revels. The film is completely daft but entertaining, the dinos took out all the bad guys which is always satisfying. Would've enjoyed more Goldblum.

Boredom is a healthy and perfectly normal response to the LOTR films. Just because you can spaff CGI all over a film doesn’t mean you should.

I might need to fight you boatyardblues, I love the LOTR films. My dd however, now 8, is with you.

I can't believe I never noticed the eye thing!

My only complaint was that I thought there should have been more time dedicated to the island/volcano thing and less to running around a mansion. But Chris Pratt so hey I would watch the whole thing without even a tiny dinosaur just to see him 😂 and was very giddy to see Rafe Spall! Loved him in Get Santa!

Extremely silly popcorn adventure, everyone who should get eaten does, pick it apart for plot holes with ease, but why bother? It's a movie about rescuing genetically engineered dinosaurs from a volcanic island. I found it totally engaging, undemanding fluff, and enjoyed the leads immensely. So nice to take my son to a film where the male hero is skilled, kind, and brave and not an utter fool at the same time, and female hero who just gets on with it too. 3D wasn't worth it, some definitely squicky moments of people being dino-lunch, and I would have liked a little more humour, but other than that, I liked it a lot.
