Anyone else seen it? Can we talk about it? Want to check if anyone saw what I thought I saw. So, spoilers allowed.

I cried at the brontosaurus left on the burning island when they were all leaving on the boat.

Me too Sad

My DD said about Maisie having dino dna because she was so fast crawling across the floor. I noticed the amber eye but didn't make the connection.
The weird new one did stroke her hair in the beginning Shock

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 10/06/2018 17:02

I found myself thinking that the set up at the end, with dinosaurs running amok in California was the film I found myself wanting to see, not the film I had just seen which seems to be all exposition to get to that set up.

I noticed Maisie's eye OP

TSSDNCOP · 10/06/2018 17:06

But do you think The Rock should be in the next one. I did not think there’s a film in the pipeline he couldn’t have a major role in.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 10/06/2018 17:08

Dinosaurs menacing Californians is clearly a job for The Rock!

TSSDNCOP · 10/06/2018 17:12

Exactly MrStark he is proven to be an expert in helicopter and sea rescue, oversized animal relationships, smouldering and runnIng fast and beach-based detective-doing. I would say he’s a shoe in and Oscar hopeful. Drawing on his skills as Mitch Buchanan the fuck off sea dinosaur will have met his Waterloo.

Cannot wait!!!!

Wishes08 · 10/06/2018 17:15

I thought that was one of the twists.

Maisie is a clone of her 'mother' she was made in the same way as the dinosaurs so that's why she said the ' they are alive, like me' line after she released them.

TSSDNCOP · 10/06/2018 17:18

I thought it was going to turn out that Iris had more to do with the plot. What happened to her? She wasn’t eaten as I recall.

user1488622199 · 10/06/2018 17:22

Did anyone else wonder why Claire let all the dinos out of the cages to save their lives rather than open the doors to let all the gas out and save all the people’s lives?! 🤷🏻‍♀️

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 10/06/2018 17:22

Didn't Generic British Baddie kill her?

KellyBailey · 10/06/2018 17:24

So who was Maisie's mother/Lockwood's daughter? They said near the start she visited the park once, a long time ago but it couldn't have been Ellie Sattler or Lexi could it? DH said Iris was Lockwood's wife/mum of original daughter but I thought she was the nanny.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 10/06/2018 17:27

I thought Lexi was implied but, she couldn't simultaneously be Hammonds granddaughter and Lockwoods daughter ?

Or could she?

Wishes08 · 10/06/2018 17:28

I couldn't figure out who Lockwoods daughter was .. It did say she died in a car crash so I'm assuming her Lockwood used her DNA to make a clone, that's why he would never show Maisie the picture of her mother because it's basically the same person.

I'm assuming that whoever Lockwoods daughter was she wasn't actually in any of the previous films (I can't remember the second one that well though!)

raisedbyguineapigs · 10/06/2018 17:34

I thought Iris was the nanny, but I thought she might have been the surrogate for Maisie. I loved it! We were pondering whether to see the 3d but me and my DS1 10 would have been terrified, whereas by Dino mad ds2 7 loved it and would have loved it even more in 3d so depends on the child I think. DS2 said it was a brachiosaurus that was burnt on the island. His bedtime reading is the dinosaur encyclopedia so I assume he's right in all things dino Grin

SouthWestmom · 10/06/2018 17:44

We all agreed 3D wasn't worth it if that helps.

Didn't stay for the end credit scene - hate having to wait til after all the boring credits.

We all went for a wee and came back in for the endless credits. The coda at the end really wasn’t worth it. Just a bunch of pterodactyls landing on a lit tower (poss fake Eiffel) in Vegas. “Oh good” said I, “that’s exactly what Vegas needs.”

Great point about letting the gas out rather than the dinos. I kept thinking what a stupid idea it was because any one of the panicking dinos could have smashed the glass of the control pod, instantly gassing the Jurassis World scooby gang, but letting the gas out would have been a much better idea.

ILoveChillies · 10/06/2018 18:14

Just back from watching it. It was OK, kids enjoyed it, but even my DS (10) thought the plot was pretty poor.

My DD is 6 and wasn’t scared at all. She has seen all the original films though so knew what to expect. It didn’t seem as tense as those and I don’t think you even see any blood. It’s a shame that such an iconic film has been reduced to this to be honest.

boatyardblues · 10/06/2018 18:15

I liked all the jaw-jaw and actual character development. I give JW a solid 8.5/10 vs 5/10 for Solo, which is 2 hours of my life I’ll never get back.

HermioneWeasley · 10/06/2018 18:21

We all really enjoyed it. Kids are 8 and 11

Chocchip88 · 10/06/2018 18:32

We went this afternoon. Almost 6 year old and 7 year old loved it! They happily watch all the other films so I was confident they’d be ok.
Did not notice Maise’s eye!

raisedbyguineapigs · 10/06/2018 19:08

Oh the plot was poor no doubt about it and the same as about a million other plots. I just saw it as a vehicle for the scares and special effects, which is odd because I usually get annoyed at that star wars

GooodMythicalMorning · 10/06/2018 19:15

I must have low standards for films as I loved this and Solo.

SouthWestmom · 10/06/2018 19:54

I am convinced there was a long close up of her eye and she had a slither of amber colouring.

What I don't get is why the illegal animal traders were jizzing themselves over selling a dinosaur for $20m.

Their recovery mission to the island, building and running the lab and containing and feeding the dinosaurs can't have been cheap so it doesn't seem like a brilliant rate of return.

And if the plot of the next movie involves having to return a stone to the island to restore it to its former glory, then the Rock would be perfect (see Jumanji and Moana).

boatyardblues · 10/06/2018 22:20

Also, most of them were jizzing themselves over a single dinosaur. Seems like a short term investment, especially if you plan on sending it into battle - surely you need at least one boy dinosaur and one girl dinosaur for it to be a useful investment? And the crazy scientists had already nabbed the DNA (ie really useful stuff).

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 10/06/2018 22:23

Yes OP there was, I remember the exact shot you mean.
