I've been visiting the cinema since I was very small and for me and my papa used to go to the cinema every week or ever other week, and now it's a once in a blue moon but Within that time an adult ticket has gone from about £5.00 to £12.00 ! ...
And the child teen and senior are terrible aswell , closer you get to londom and the tickets rocket to £14.00 !
im not suprised people pirate films or rather stick Netflix on rather than go to the cinema .

Will a trip to the cinema become a thing of the past or something only the rich can afford

I went to a cinema in Cardiff on holiday and it was £14 for 2 adults and 3 children!! I was in shock, I thought she had only charged for me and I said no, sorry, 2 adults 3 children and she said yes thats a family ticket for £10 plus £4 for an extra person. It was a current film too.

We went out last night to Vue, and the ticket price was £4.99. Mind you, we were only told this by a colleague or we could have ended up paying £11.50 somewhere else.

Vue have extended the number of cinemas that cost £5 a ticket. Might be worth checking the one near you if they are the same.

Go on a Tuesday or Wednesday night, wuth the compare the market scheme and it costs you like £6 then. Plus snacks but we don't bother now. We just take in our own stuff.

Our nearest one is odeon. It's a nice enough experience, but the prices are a lot- around £14 for an adult ticket.
The last few films we've wanted to watch we just waited until they came on sky store.

It's mainly the food and drink I find irritating. I've started taking my own stuff in.

I'm a cinema manager and can guarantee that no cinema is making money from the films. Some of the big multiplexes offer the cheap tickets or do the meerkat deals to get more bums on seats which equals more opportunity for them to try sell the popcorn etc.

There are huge costs in putting a film on a screen and it takes numerous people to make it happen (and fix it quickly if things go wrong!).

My cinema isn't the cheapest but it's also not the most expensive and what drives me crazy is If you're going to sneak food and drink in to the auditorium, at least sneak it back out again!! Don't expect me to clean up after you when you haven't put anything in my till! also please stop cutting or biting your nails and leaving a full hands worth on the floor it is beyond grim cleaning them up

I live North East we have a Vue, Reel, Odeon and Cineworld. They range from £4 to £4.99 for all day for any time or film. Think 3D is £1 more. However I'm away this weekend and priced up cinema tonight no way think it was £14+ I can see why people would complain.

MillyTheKid · 30/06/2018 11:36

I'm not usually that fussed about seeing something as soon as it comes out but when you have a child the pressure is on, especially when they're at the age when they want to see every Marvel, Star Wars and Jurassic type film that comes out.

French2019 · 01/07/2018 19:10

The nice shiny Cineworld here is £6.50 for adults and £5.50 for kids. The older Odeon cinema charges £4 for everyone.

I love no longer living in the expensive South East!Grin

Oblomov18 · 05/07/2018 07:44

Nope. £5.99 at vue. And I buy any food for ds's at Poundshop opposite before we go!

UnlawfulBananaPeeler · 05/07/2018 16:40

Depending where you are . Try The Light cinema. Really unusual modern cinema with reclining chairs and foot stools Ect.

The prices are much lower than odeon ect

GfordMum101 · 05/07/2018 16:52

OMG - Where do you all live..... you are so lucky. We only have Odeon locally and they charge £10 for a Monday midday ticket in a standard seat for a crap film in a tiny screen. Everything else is upwards from that price. So jealous of you all.
