I have a looooong list:

The Green Mile
Schindler's list
Atonement
The Colour Purple
History of Violence
American History X
Seven

All horror films - accidentally watched a Centipede one and was horribly disturbed

Precious. I was sexually abused as a child, and yet my aunt thought that this would be a good choice of movie to take me to. Hmm

Ski40 · 08/04/2018 02:03

Cannibal Holocaust upset me a lot due to real animals being killed. I couldn't watch those bits.
A serbian film. I have a very strong stomach for gore films and can take any amount of horror and guts. But child abuse? Wtf?? 🤤I still feel sick thinking about it, it was the most upsetting (fictional) thing I have ever seen. Had to turn it off. How could they.

tutorwho · 08/04/2018 18:46

I really struggled with watching The Divide... very surreal.

BirthdayKake · 08/04/2018 18:51

Definitely Sinister

I love horror films but that one just is... Well... Sinister...

Eden Lake

Is cannibal holocaust an illegal film? My understanding was that sort of thing wouldn’t get past British censors

bringbacksideburns · 08/04/2018 19:14

Nil by mouth.

Forget your Horror movies and shock tactics. That film is so relentlessly bleak and grim and realistic. As soon as it finished I just knew I would never sit through it again. Just depressing.

Ski40 · 08/04/2018 19:34

@Sprinklesinmyelbow Killing animals for real in film, sadly, was legal back then. I watched it in Spain more than 20 years ago. No idea if it would ever be shown on mainstream tv here in the UK but there is very little you can't find online.
That was an awful, awful film 😢

Sprinklesinmyelbow · 08/04/2018 19:34

Urgh!

Ski40 · 08/04/2018 19:37

Oh I forgot Silent Hill, the uncut version. Terrifying and so depressing.

Sarsparella · 08/04/2018 19:37

Tyranasaur, it’s utterly horrific & I could never watch it again

A dog gets beaten to death within the first few minutes, there’s an incredibly disturbing rape scene & the entire film is very dark & unsettling :(

I think the fact it’s not a horror but a gritty, realistic British film makes it all the worse

user1483390742 · 08/04/2018 19:40

The original Blair Witch Project frightened the bejasus out of me!

Myview2 · 08/04/2018 19:52

I don’t think anyone has mentioned ‘Splice’ yet-worst film ever. Disturbing on so many levels.

No no no Adrian Brody just nooooo! I haven’t been able to watch him in anything else since without the flashbacks!

youngnomore · 08/04/2018 19:53

The Descent. 😱 Shit my pants.

Bananalanacake · 08/04/2018 20:41

Why has no-one mentioned Peter Jackson's Bad Taste. A bf made me watch the video in his room. I saw a small snippet and walked out.

MissionItsPossible · 23/04/2018 16:42

@mollied
Most disturbing film I have ever seen was Mysterious Skin I will never watch that again!

I thought I was going to get to the end of this thread without seeing Mysterious Skin mentioned! I had no idea what this film was about but saw it starting on Film 4 on a weeknight about 1am so thought I'd watch a bit of it to try and help me get to sleep, and that I liked Joseph Gordon Levitt and a film about aliens would be interesting.

It was NOT what I was expecting at all. I cried throughout most of it, especially at the ending and was tired as anything the next day at work. Brilliant but heartbreaking film. I don't know if I would watch it again though. I considered getting the DVD but knew it would probably be a waste of money. JGL was in my top 3 favourite actors after watching that.

Middleoftheroad · 23/04/2018 17:09

Currently re-watching Wolf Creek having watched both TV series.

Getting prepped to watch Kill List again.

furb · 25/04/2018 18:01

I strongly advise against watching the movie TUSK. It got to a certain point of the film where I think I probably said 'F**K this' and had to switch it off.

furb · 25/04/2018 18:04

'GET OUT' is definitely worth a watch, at least once....I don't think I would have a problem watching this again, but some might.... but I thought it was a pretty superb Horror/Thriller.

Thebluedog · 25/04/2018 18:05

‘Them’ had to sleep with the light on for a few days after that one

‘The Descent’ just urghhh

I used to love horror films until I became a parent, now they scare the shit out of me.

I read the book ‘the boy with the striped pajyamas’ and there’s no way I’m watching the film

cloudtree · 25/04/2018 18:07

I'm sure its been mentioned numerous times on the thread but definitely Sophie's Choice. Incredibly upsetting.

MissionItsPossible · 25/04/2018 18:22

Not a film but I don’t know if I could watch the last episode of Season 2 of Twin Peaks again, I had nightmares for days after watching that although realistically, if I was to watch the show again in its entirety I couldn’t not watch that episode!

PenguinDi · 25/04/2018 18:48

The green mile - fantastic film but once is enough for me

The Shining
Outlander the last 2 episodes of season 1

I can't watch any psychological films as they play on my mind and stay for ages, so horror is out and anything nazi (boy in the striped pyjamas I want to see but just can watch it)

expatinscotland · 25/04/2018 18:54

The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover

BBTHREE76 · 28/04/2018 22:25

I can’t watch loads of films mentioned on here. One that’s quite specific to me (particularly as it’s supposed to be a comedy) is “50 first dates”. I found the fact that she lost her memory every day really disturbed and effected me, and when she had to watch a film to remember she was married and had a child... but that point I was an absolute sobbing mess. I have tried to watch it since but I just go to pieces.

Mothertruckeraintnosucker · 30/04/2018 10:16

Paul blart mall cop gave me shivers
