I have also failed to watch District 9 yet, despite trying. Just something squicky about it that I feel too unsettled by - now I follow my instincts and turn it off!

dorothymichaels · 27/01/2018 09:58

Dancer in the Dark. Broke my heart. I watched it alone. Big mistake.

BubbaLips · 27/01/2018 11:59

pink flamingos.... i actually feel sick when i think about that film.

SoftBlocks · 27/01/2018 12:01

Wolf Creek

Aspergallus · 27/01/2018 12:05

The mutilation of the central female character in The Last King of Scotland is one of the worst things I have seen. Also kind of unexpected in the course of the film otherwise. I've mentioned being disturbed by this to friends in the past who haven't really understood, so a bit of a relief to see people mention it here.

The Red Road is another film that has stuck with me. Central to the story is the loss of a child and its just so gritty and real that it's very hard to let go. One particular scene involved cuddling the child's clothes which, I think, is just what every mother would do...it's harrowing.

My husband told me Eden Lake was a 'thriller'. I stopped watching at a certain point in it that jut made me feel sick. That film is rank. I don't do horror films, absolutely hate them and would rather never watch TV again.

A film that sticks with me is Hacksaw Ridge. It's truly truly amazing but I don't think I'll watch it again.

JenniferYellowHat1980 · 01/02/2018 20:58

Wolf Creek is just grim isn't it? And Seven.

charliebear78 · 01/02/2018 22:03

The Plague Dogs-By the same author as Watership Down.
I was only young and it upset me so much, that its stayed with me.
I do not know a single person who as also seen this so would be curious to know if any of you have?!
Also an Ex made me watch a French thriller/Horror(?) about a woman who lost her unborn child in a car accident and started stalking this heavily pregnant lady to steal her child-there is a scene where she cuts the baby out, that I left the room for!!! Anyone know what this was called?!

mizu · 04/02/2018 08:53

Oh yes, Eden Lake, didn't know what I was letting myself in for, will not be watching that again, it haunted me!

And Deliverence was another.

JAPAB · 06/02/2018 11:45

Just remembered one of Jason Statham's Crank movies. There is a scene where the Gang Boss punishes an underling who failed him by making him slice off his nipple. And we see the whole thing in graphic detail. Then when he's finished, the Boss says 'now the other one'.

Susiesoap7 · 09/02/2018 10:05

The devils. I think Vanessa Redgrave was in it, it was about nuns. Probably sixties

quirkychick · 11/02/2018 10:25

Susiesoap7 The Devils is Vanessa Redgrave and Oliver Reed. It is indeed, quite disturbing...

gingergenius · 11/02/2018 11:51

Omg I just googled pink flamingos and think I need to lie down in a dark room now!

My friends at uni rented Cannibal Holocaust as they’d heard it had just been unbanned. It was hideous I never ever want to watch anything like that again. They were laughing but I just wanted to leave.

My ex wanted to watch Irreversible but I refused and having seen bits of it since I know I made the right choice. He seemed to think it’d be sexy...

Can’t stand suffering in films, Reservoir Dogs was horrible and Casino upset me too. Horrible.

XmasInTintagel · 11/02/2018 16:07

Super - it starts off a bit violent, but kind of black comedy, and likeable characters, then it all goes out of control, the characters seem to lose all sense of whats reasonable, ending with one raping another, and really gory scenes. I think what's horrible is the way they change, more than what actually happens.

Rach5l · 11/02/2018 16:13

Idk what it's called (don't want to look it up) but saw a film in my 20s about the end of the world, I think a meteorite hit Earth & ginormous waves just wiped people out. I was so disturbed by it

Mulch · 11/02/2018 16:15

The road, read the book whilst pregnant. Complete misery porn

Jessie06 · 11/02/2018 18:55

I started watching the human centipede and couldn't finish watching!Who even thinks this stuff up?

Jeepers Creepers stayed with me for a while.

I also was intrigued by the saw films so watched a few clips on youtube but that was enough to stop me watching the full film, to disturbing.

There was a movie I stumbled across late one night, I don't remember the name but it was a group of work colleagues who were on a team building thing and were taken by a group of people, the women were raped by this one guy to produce babies, and the men were beaten/killed. the place was full of other women who had been kidnapped. Stayed with me for a while wish I could remember the name, its one fucked up film.

EveryNameYouTake · 12/02/2018 00:41

Melancholia - so depressing, it made me feel uneasy for weeks after.

Flowers in the Attic (original)

How I/We Live Now - horrific, sad and gave me nightmares.

Grave of the Fireflies Sad

The Zookepers Wife - I has to turn the last half hour off. Sad

llangennith · 12/02/2018 01:03

Escape From Sobibor

IwantedtobeEmmaPeel · 12/02/2018 01:52

Wolf Creek
Eden Lake
Jeepers Creepers
Boys Don't Cry
Candyman

windchimesabotage · 12/02/2018 01:59

Irreversible. I thought it was a good film but the rape scene was so harrowing that I dont think I could ever sit through it again.

windchimesabotage · 12/02/2018 02:03

but oh I love The Devils!! The Human Centipede is just ridiculous and funny.

Watership Down tho.... that is deeply upsetting. Id add that to things I cant watch. Cant ever watch the end of the English Patient either. I just turn it off before it all goes wrong for them.
