I loved the remake of Cinderella.

Beauty and the Beast was amazing. A bit dark in some places but I loved it.

Went Tuesday night with dd who is 5. We both cried a teeny bit at one part. Beautiful film :-)

gabsdot · 24/03/2017 20:51

Myself and DD 9 saw it today. It's a lovely film, a bit long though, DD was a bit bored in the middle.
I loved the musical numbers and i thought Gaston was just perfect.
Question though
Why did Belle throw her yellow dress in a puddle before riding off back to the castle. And was she in her slip after that?

Hulababy · 24/03/2017 22:04

I think just to get it our of the way - a long full gown isn't exactly ideal for legging it back through the forest to get to the castle to save the Beast.

DD is going again this Sunday with a friend. Once wasnt enough :D

cuirderussie · 28/03/2017 23:50

God, Emma Watson is such a plank of wood, so dull and lacking in sparkle. She turned down La La Land for this so at least she didn't ruin that as well!

Loved Gaston. Film gorgeous looking but a bit dull.

CalmItKermitt · 29/03/2017 01:59

EW is pretty poor but I thought she was better than Emma Thompson who I usually love. She was awful as Mrs Potts.

OlennasWimple · 29/03/2017 02:37

Is it worth seeing it in 3D?

Housewife2010 · 29/03/2017 06:24

Why does she keep walking around the castle with her skirt tucked in her knickers?

Wingsofdesire · 29/03/2017 06:46

Would you think suitable for a four year old?
No - way too scary.

I thought it was a great film - a proper big old-style musical. I loved especially the set pieces with the songs & house hold items!

Am not an Emma Watson fan, though, really. Having said that, I thought she did well. It worked fine for me with her.

She wasn't a classic heroine for me, but she was more than credible as a girl-next-door, slightly unusual bookworm. ...

Wingsofdesire · 29/03/2017 06:47

I do think all this talk of 'feminist' themes in her 'portrayal' is, erm, quite a lot of bollocks, though ... the main point is she isn't a classic beauty, and she is understated in her acting style. That's about it. The fact that she doesn't have a lot of clothes changes is really not much of anything. ...

Wingsofdesire · 29/03/2017 06:48

Why does she keep walking around the castle with her skirt tucked in her knickers?
To show she is not oppressed by traditional female genderizing ; )

CactusFred · 29/03/2017 06:49

I saw it last night and I like Emma Watson.

The beast was way more attractive as the beast!

Josh Gad made it for me though.

CactusFred · 29/03/2017 06:51

And what happened to the wolves once they'd ceased to be useful to prevent escapes?!

PatriciaHolm · 29/03/2017 12:16

My 12 year old went with friends and adored it! She's not seen the original though.

nursebickypegs · 30/03/2017 05:57

Saw it yesterday. Really average, the beasts CGI face was distracting. Gaston and LaFou were the best bits.

Mumtobe12 · 30/03/2017 06:32

I loved it thought gaston was amazing Emma's singing wasn't the strongest but a beautiful remake preferred to Cinderella x

laylabelle · 30/03/2017 17:38

Saw it yesterday and loved it. Did think Emma Watson was better in the 2nd half to start with she just looked bored especially during be our guest. Still a pretty film though. Loved Gaston and and LaFou and the singing wasn't bad either

nursebickypegs · 30/03/2017 19:00

@laylabelle agreed with be my guest, Emma Watson has never been good at focusing on CGI

SukeyTakeItOffAgain · 30/03/2017 20:05

Saw it this afternoon. I felt like a total weirdo for thinking "Hmmm, the beast is way hotter than the prince". I didn't even mention it to the friend I went with.

Thank fuck other people thought so too :o

Housewife2010 · 30/03/2017 21:16

The beast was prettier than Belle.

VeryButchyRestingFace · 31/03/2017 21:15

I went to see this against my better judgement.

I really need to start listening to my better judgement more. Confused

Hulababy · 31/03/2017 22:47

The beast was always more attractive than the prince, even in the animated version and in the Disney shows of it too. Even DD thought so, both now as a teen and when she was a little girl! She always thought the prince was a bit too 'wet!'

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 31/03/2017 22:59

No, the Beast was definitely not prettier than Belle....she was lovely. Sound, rounded and clever. She was also very beautiful. The Beast was attractive in a masculine sense, but pretty he was NOT!!

I loved this film. Emma Watson did a great job...mainly because my weans are utterly enchanted by her and managed to sit still for the whole two hours, just gazing at her loveliness.

Hulababy · 31/03/2017 23:02

I agree that Emma Watson made a very nice Belle, and she was definitely prettier than the Beast. the Beast was, however, more attractive than the prince :)

VeryButchyRestingFace · 31/03/2017 23:27

the Beast was, however, more attractive than the prince

I did not understand the prince's hairstyle choice at all.

I think Dan Stevens is a bit too bawfaced for that style.

And poor Gaston. I've always had a bit of a thang for the bad boys. Blush

HalfShellHero · 02/04/2017 09:13

I watched it yesterday ...Emma Watsons not a singer is she bless her Confused ..but an enjoyable film much better than Cinderella ..I dont understand why they dI dnt do what the 90s version did, hire a Broadway cast , it would seem to make more sense in a live action version, I know josh gad has done Broadway.
