So I've been watching Star Trek and...

...I think I'd like to be a Vulcan. Logic, clever quips, excellent eyebrows. Could get a grip over those pesky emotions too (bloody anxiety).

Anyone else think Spock is dreamy?

LetThereBeCupcakes indeed, and it's all the more surprising because it's so far removed from how Kes was. That shouldn't make any difference, of course, but you can't help imagining.

Cerseirys · 03/03/2016 12:21

I'd love to be Lwaxana Troi, she was hilarious.

Species8472 · 03/03/2016 13:00

I've found my people :)

My least favourite ST aliens would have to be Bajorans, always banging on about their religion, Sisko being their Emissary, and all tbat shizzle.

Am slightly obsessed with Voyager (hence my MB name). Wouldn't want to live in fluidic space though. Maybe I'd be a hologram.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 03/03/2016 14:33

This thread is making me want to dig out all of my Star Trek DVDs!

MTPurse · 03/03/2016 14:45

We are currently watching DS9 I really can not get into it like the others.

invisiblegorilla · 03/03/2016 17:42

How far into it are you, MTPurse? I think a lot of people think it improves radically around season 2 and 3. Mind you, I can't stand it when someone tells me 'Oh it gets really good after a couple of dozen episodes! Don't stop watching!' so I won't tell you to stick with it if you don't want to Grin but I do think it grows as a show.

Just three words, Seven of Nine! My girl crush for years!!

LetThereBeCupcakes · 03/03/2016 18:44

What is it they say about DS9? "To boldly stay put and hope something exciting happens"! Grin

In all seriousness though, I really like DS9. I found it easier to follow the whole Dominion War stuff once I had the DVDs so could watch episodes back to back. I struggle to remember what's going on if I only watch one episode a week.

Cerseirys · 03/03/2016 18:54

I liked DS9. It was more like a drama that happened to be set in space rather than a sci if show. Could never get into Voyager though and always wanted to scrub the tattoo off Chakotoy's face.

BathshebaDarkstone · 03/03/2016 18:57

I'd either be a Trill or a Bajoran.

Trills · 03/03/2016 20:31

I liked DS9 because there was more chance for ongoing storylines rather than "planet of the week" stuff.

and because I fancied Julian Bashir

Trills · 03/03/2016 20:32

Bajorans were a bit religious though, weren't they?

Cerseirys · 03/03/2016 20:41

Trills, Dr Bashir has become Hollywood's go-to guy whenever they're looking for someone to play a sheikh or a Middle Eastern prince. Though he turned up in Game of Thrones recently, so it's good to see he's still getting parts.

Cerseirys · 03/03/2016 20:41

He and the actress who played Major Kira were married at one point and have a child together.

wickedwaterwitch · 03/03/2016 20:46

I fancied Bashir too

What species was Dax? They lived for ever didn't they?

I'd like to be Janeway most, she's my girl crush

wickedwaterwitch · 03/03/2016 20:47

Ah, she's a Trill, so the same as lots of you have already said!

Cerseirys · 03/03/2016 20:47

Dax was a Trill wasn't she? The actress playing her was gorgeous.

Terribleknitter · 03/03/2016 20:54

Trekkers!! Grin
What did people think of Enterprise? To me it wasn't really Star Trek just science fiction with potential that it never really lived up to. Some good characters in it but the plot centred around the boring ones, mainly Tucker and T'pol. Plus captain Archer was a tit and Scott Bakula can't act.
I think I'd like to be a full Betazoid like Lwaxana Troi. She was the best one for not giving a toss about what people thought of her!

Chippednailvarnish · 03/03/2016 21:05

The theme tune to Enterprise put me right off.
Russell "The voice" Watson and sci fi don't mix.

Russell Watson and music don't mix

invisiblegorilla · 03/03/2016 21:05

I never really got into Enterprise. I can't have watched more than a dozen episodes of the whole thing, although my memory's not the best so it might have been more. I read up on the plot here and there but felt a bit blah about the whole thing. Shame, really.

PurpleDaisies · 03/03/2016 21:12

This is a great thread. I'm going to be lame and also say trill-I really like the idea of having the memories and wisdom of the previous hosts, and slightly more superficially the spots are cool.

I could never get into Enterprise and I totally agree the theme tune was dreadful. I'm watching ds9 on cbs action at the moment and really enjoying it.

MashesToPashes · 03/03/2016 21:14

I'd like to be an irreligious Bajoran. Really liked Kira and Ensign Ro, couldn't get enthused about the Prophets.

magoria · 03/03/2016 21:16

I have a photo of me on the enterprise bridge somewhere Grin

invisiblegorilla · 03/03/2016 21:23

Ro Laren was great. The TNG episode where her and La Forge were in the transporter accident and she tried to make peace with being dead was a good one (and also on television all the time). I found her really believable as a flawed character.

Trills · 03/03/2016 21:27

Anyone watch Battlestar Galactica?

And if so, did you think that Gaius Baltar was a bit like a dirty Julian Bashir?
