I'm hoping Matt Damon takes home the Oscar. I cannot bear Leo DiCaprio.

crabb · 29/02/2016 03:39

I'm with you Annie Smile

adreamworld · 29/02/2016 03:41

Was The Martian really worth a Best Actor Oscar though? Yes it was a very enjoyable film and well done - was his performance really that incredible though??

UnDeuxTroisCatsSank · 29/02/2016 03:41

It really is Brit central

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 29/02/2016 03:42

Maybe not, but he was miles better than Leo. I have never understood the fascination with Leo.

woodcabernet · 29/02/2016 03:42

I've started timing the speeches

That one started playing the music at 53 seconds

It finished at 59 seconds

Leo is such caricature of ageing bad boy who can't settle down and who will end up lonely.
He will probably win.

adreamworld · 29/02/2016 03:45

Amy - a well deserved Oscar there. Very thought provoking film Sad

woodcabernet · 29/02/2016 03:45

Music on that one started at 41 seconds but they made the mistake of pausing

I haven't seen the Amy Winehouse documentary. It's on my list now.

woodcabernet · 29/02/2016 03:47

It's amazing

dream
Last few years ....
Eddie won /Film lost 4/5 (theory of everything)
Matthew /Film won 3/6 (Dallas buyers)
Daniel / lost 10/12 (lincoln)
Jean /won 5/10 (the artist)
Colin /won 4/12 (kings speech)
Jeff / won 2/3 (crazy heart)
Sean /won 2/8 (milk)
Daniel /won 2/8 (there will be blood)

Think director and best picture are more linked.
Certain films can win all the technicals.
Not sure without research when the last film was that took all the acting ones.

Shame about Sly Stallone.

adreamworld · 29/02/2016 03:51

The documentary is really good. Amy's dad didn't like it at all and says it's not the full story. I've also read his book which was also HUGELY moving and well written. I guess the truth is somewhere between the two.

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 29/02/2016 03:52

Amy's dad will be well hacked off. He thinks the documentary is a total distortion and the family disowned it.

woodcabernet · 29/02/2016 03:52

Seven awards to go I reckon

No worries. I'm an OCD geeky nerd Wink

adreamworld · 29/02/2016 03:55

7 to go? They better hurry up as I need to go to the bank which closes in 2 hours!!

UnDeuxTroisCatsSank · 29/02/2016 03:55

Lovely suit on Louis Gossett Jr

UnDeuxTroisCatsSank · 29/02/2016 03:56

Dave is killing it. Fab.

adreamworld · 29/02/2016 03:56

Although it would be awful for him, a tiny piece of me wants to see Leo's gracious losing face, it'd be the best piece of acting he's ever done. :o

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 29/02/2016 03:59

Indeed. But where did they drag him up from? Unless Sly had a word (last famous film was Expendables). Think they got him in to pretend #ohsoblack. Same as Kev.

Thought Christopher Lee was dead ages ago. Blush
Liked Wes Craven schlock in the 80s.
Loved Bowie in Merry Xmas Mr Lawrence and in The prestige.

UnDeuxTroisCatsSank · 29/02/2016 03:59

Beautiful song, beautiful performance by Dave Grohl.

crabb · 29/02/2016 04:00

Oh, that was moving. And Omar Sharif's eyes - amazing.
