Was The Martian really worth a Best Actor Oscar though? Yes it was a very enjoyable film and well done - was his performance really that incredible though??

Maybe not, but he was miles better than Leo. I have never understood the fascination with Leo.

I've started timing the speeches

That one started playing the music at 53 seconds

It finished at 59 seconds

Leo is such caricature of ageing bad boy who can't settle down and who will end up lonely.
He will probably win.

Amy - a well deserved Oscar there. Very thought provoking film

Music on that one started at 41 seconds but they made the mistake of pausing

I haven't seen the Amy Winehouse documentary. It's on my list now.

Certain films can win all the technicals.
Not sure without research when the last film was that took all the acting ones.

The documentary is really good. Amy's dad didn't like it at all and says it's not the full story. I've also read his book which was also HUGELY moving and well written. I guess the truth is somewhere between the two.

Amy's dad will be well hacked off. He thinks the documentary is a total distortion and the family disowned it.

Liked Wes Craven schlock in the 80s.
Loved Bowie in Merry Xmas Mr Lawrence and in The prestige.
