Star Wars theories anyone? - potential spoilers.

Right I've been rewatching and reading online and thinking about it and here's my theories:

Vader/anakin will return. Jinn was able to communicate after his death; yoda and obiwan knew about his studies and the immortality and at the end when vader is dead you see the two of them and anakin. Anakin was by far the most powerful user of the force; I reckon Luke's been at the original Jedi temple studying the ancient ways. Rey has got to be his daughter; together they will bring back granddaddy anakin and he will stop kylo ren either by redeeming or destroying him.

But will it be vader or anakin who returns???

(I reckon anakin, he was the chosen one and I reckon he can still fulfil his destiny)

Anyone agree/any other theories?

I don't think she's leia and poes (interesting idea though!). I think Han and leia split when Ben turned which would mean after Rey was born. Is that right?

I'm still 😮 at kylo ren being 30 mind you.

I have a sneaking suspicion Rey is Leia and Han's child. In theory she should have been somewhere between 5 and 7 when Ren turned. Ren knew her. And both Leia and Han seemed to see something in her. I reckon they believed her dead in the Knights of Ren uprising, which could explain why they don't really talk about her.

RJnomore1 · 01/01/2016 12:21

Ah! That would make sense.

Strictly thats an interesting idea! Ren is meant to be 30? Bloody hell!

SandyMumsnet · 07/01/2016 09:22

Hi there,

With the OP's kind permission we're now moving this thread to Films Flowers

Peevedquitter · 10/01/2016 19:39

Just watched this and apart from knowing there was a female Jedi had managed somehow to avoid spoilers. This next post. In gains definite spoilers.

I think Rey is Lukes DD though he never did get any action anywhere so who is the Mum ? We also have a theory that Fin is Landos DS and he doesn't know who his parents are as stolen by first order or new order as I keep wanting to call them. We see the ongoing struggle between Anakins dark and light side through these cousins.

I blubbed when Han died. I rate this as my second or third favourite Star Wars film, unsure yet. We have spent the preceding two weeks watching all previous films in episode order when we have had the chance.

At last Mark Hamill is looking quite sexy, I would love to know how much he got paid to stand there for those few seconds looking wise and not uttering a word.

The actress that plays Rey looks remarkably like my older sister when she was younger.

Mrsfrumble · 12/01/2016 04:27

I have spent waaayyy too much time thinking about this since I first saw the film 12 days ago. I've decided that I don't want Rey to be related to anyone. Why does she have to be? Maybe the light sabre just called to her because she's the last (potential) Jedi left other than Luke and BenRen (who doesn't really count at this point). Maybe what Maz Kanata said to her, something like "the belonging you seek is ahead of you, not beind you" is a clue that her parentage is not as significant as her actions to come.

I think trying to link everyone new to past characters, like theories that Finn is Lando Calrissian's son, is just getting too much now. We've already had a big shock "family" revelation with BenRen being Han and Leia's son. Do we need more?

Mrsfrumble · 12/01/2016 05:30

I'm also glad to hear that I'm not the only one who is shallow enough to want BenRen to either be a secret goody or at least be redeemed and return to the light just because I fancy Adam Driver. I was already distraught that Rey slashed his lovely face with a light sabre. Beautiful, darkside Anakin getting burned to a crisp in a volcano was the last straw with the crappy prequels for me.

So, so shallow....

Thefitfatty · 12/01/2016 06:02

I think Rey's a Kenobi. English accent (which she wouldn't have gotten on Jakku since everyone else was an alien with no discernible accent, and the flashbacks show she was about 6-8 when left on Jakku, so with her parents long enough to get their accent, and Han/Leia and Luke have American accents, as does Kylo Ren), She heard Ewan MacGregor/Alec Guinness tell her her journey was beginning, not a Skywalker.

Definitely think Kylo Ren's a secret goody. Thanks to Qui Gon (spelling), Anakin always thought he was the one meant to balance the force, so that was his mission all along, he just got lost along the way. Kylo Ren said he's going to finish his grandfather's mission, which is to balance the force. Also, why didn't he kill Rey when he had the chance, or torture her, and you see he struggles trying to stay on the dark side in order to complete his mission. Also think Luke is in on it, that's why he disappeared, so as not to distract Kylo.

Also saw another fan theory that points out in the flashback where Rey is being dragged off you see Kylo Ren stab someone through the back whose aiming at Rey. So he's protecting Rey.

WinnieTheW0rm · 12/01/2016 07:00

Jedi weren't meant to marry (the pure warrior monk trope). The one who did was Anakin. I think Rey is definitely a descendant of his.

I don't want it to be a 'forgotten' child of Leia. So many be Luke, and dumped on Jakku when he went walkabout?

Or a second partner to Vader - so Anakin good produces one that turns bad, Vader bad produces strongly natural good.

Will there be an 'I am your mother' moment?

MilleniumTalcum · 12/01/2016 07:11

Marking my place! Grin

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 12/01/2016 12:00

Just came here to say I have an unhealthy obsession with Adam Driver and want to see the film for the third time - just for the Kylo Ren bits though Grin

MilleniumTalcum · 12/01/2016 12:18

Me too Grin going to watch it for the third time on Friday...

TrionicLettuce · 13/01/2016 15:56

I've lost count of how many times we've been to see it, it's either seven or eight Blush

This rather nicely explains why Chewie didn't just shoot Kylo Ren in the face

Mrsfrumble · 13/01/2016 16:24

Trionic you just broke my heart!

Because you know that Chewie would have loved the crap out of Han's kid. Poor walking carpet must be so confused by the whole situation Sad
And is Ren the first person to survive being shot by Chewie's bow? Usually his victims go flying through the air, not get up and go running into the woods for a hardcore lightsabre battle.

Angelto5 · 13/01/2016 16:39

I have a question (I am prepared to be told off for asking it though).

Why did Leia send Han to fetch Ren instead of going herself?
(Cried when Han died so probably looking for some one to blame)

Mrsfrumble · 13/01/2016 16:46

Well you could blame Harrison Ford, who apparently wanted to be written out!

Maybe just because Han was going to the Starkiller base to rescue Rey and set the explosives anyway, and Leia needed to stay and oversee stuff at the resistance base?

KacieB · 13/01/2016 17:00

It was all the Will Of The Force Grin

Angelto5 · 13/01/2016 17:06

In my family if my brother went bad like Ren the last thing we'd do would be to send my dad to bring him back!!(would make things ten times worse). My mom would be much more calm & persuasive!

That might be my skewed take on it though Grin

KacieB · 13/01/2016 17:18

A bit like Odin should have sent Frigga to get Loki back, not his grumpy older brother.

TannhauserGate · 13/01/2016 19:44

Yeah- but that wouldn't have made as good a film, would it?

.... Well no shit Sherlock Hmm

MilleniumTalcum · 15/01/2016 05:51

Agree. Leia has lots of practise being diplomatic. Han, not so much. Seeing it for the third time tonight! :)

Mrsfrumble · 16/01/2016 01:37

Ohh, so there are rumors that Hayden Christensen will be in episode 8.

That's force ghost Anakin then, slapping Kylo Ren upside the head with a frying pan and telling him to stop being a dick and go apologize to his mother. Not sure what will happen for the other 2 hours of the film though...
