Star Wars theories anyone? - potential spoilers.

Right I've been rewatching and reading online and thinking about it and here's my theories:

Vader/anakin will return. Jinn was able to communicate after his death; yoda and obiwan knew about his studies and the immortality and at the end when vader is dead you see the two of them and anakin. Anakin was by far the most powerful user of the force; I reckon Luke's been at the original Jedi temple studying the ancient ways. Rey has got to be his daughter; together they will bring back granddaddy anakin and he will stop kylo ren either by redeeming or destroying him.

But will it be vader or anakin who returns???

(I reckon anakin, he was the chosen one and I reckon he can still fulfil his destiny)

Anyone agree/any other theories?

She's not green enough to be yoda's!
I think she has to hAve a connection with either Luke or leia because of the light sabre and the millennium falcon. It was left there for her.

TrionicLettuce · 31/12/2015 22:45

There's clearly some kind of connection between Rey and Luke as she's (unknowingly) seen where he's hiding in the imagery she apparently sees when she's trying to sleep. Wether it's a familial connection, Luke projecting outwards or an indicator of just how strong with the Force Rey is I don't know.

I've seen separate interviews with Abrams, Kasdan and Andy Serkis where they're all confirmed that Snoke is a new character rather than anyone from previous films. I don't know if that completely rules out Darth Plagueis given we didn't actually see him but I'd be very surprised if they drew so heavily on the prequels when they've worked very hard to pretend they don't exist Grin

Kacie123 · 31/12/2015 22:47

I doubt it. However, I would LOVE JJ or a fellow director to bring Hayden C. back for a few scenes, just to show that he is actually a decent actor and to help redeem some of the shit thrown in his direction purely because he was forced to act a certain way by the godawful George Lucas.

(Incidentally if you ever fancy seeing the prequels torn apart methodically, I can't recommend the funny Mr Plinkett reviews on YouTube enough!)

RJnomore1 · 31/12/2015 22:48

Ahh but we don't know how long a human/ yoda cross pregnancy would take to gestate ! 😉

I also have read a crazy theory online about Rey being Anakin reincarnated. Can't remember how they fathomed that one!

chanie44 · 31/12/2015 23:01

Try being a skywalker is too obvious and I would really like her to have a more original back story.

I don't think she is Luke's child as Jedi's don't have families (remember yoda telling anakin to forget about his mother).

Don't think she is leia and hans child either as it would make them pretty shit parents to have one child go to the dark side and abandon the other. Given that the first order didn't know where the resistance was, I don't know why they would have needed to hide rey, if she was their daughter.

I read a theory about rey being a reincarnation of anakin/vader. That would make sense as it would give the new episodes justification to exist. I mean, anakin was the chosen one who brought balance to the force and given that has happened, anything is is going to be shit in comparison.

Happythistime · 31/12/2015 23:29

Did anyone else cringe every time Snoke was mentioned? Just a really awful name for the big bad. Sounds like a Harry Potter character. Or do I just think that because he looked like Voldemort? Hmm

RJnomore1 · 31/12/2015 23:30

We use snoke to mean having a right good sniff of something. So I giggled every single time.

CaptainCallisto · 31/12/2015 23:31

DH is convinced that Finn is mini-Calrisian.

chanie44 · 01/01/2016 00:03

We didn't realise that snoke was a hologram and thought he was actually that big.

RJnomore1 · 01/01/2016 00:06

I reckon he's tiny too.
The calridian thing is down to a jigsaw listed on eBay apparently.

NotDavidTennant · 01/01/2016 00:25

George Lucas has said that Disney rejected his original story ideas for these new films, so I'm not convinced that any of the story lines set up in the original movies or the prequels will be continued. I reckon they are essentially just setting up a new cast of characters to have their own adventures, and by Episode 9 all the original characters will have either gone or be reduced to minor supporting roles.

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 01/01/2016 00:32

I wouldn't mind Rey being Luke's daughter, one that he presumably didn't know about as 1. He didn't react in the right way when she turned up; and 2. Neither did she.

I really hope she's not Han and Leia's daughter (or even just Leia's) as it's horrible to think they would have those heartfelt conversations about their son but completely reject their daughter.

I do think Ben and Rey are related somehow.

Incidentally, was anyone surprised to find out he's 32?! I thought he was meant to be the same age as Rey (and maybe he is) but he looks so young! And fit.

RJnomore1 · 01/01/2016 00:46

He's 32? But he looks/acts like a sulky teenager! Although Wookiepedia says he was born one year after the battle of Endor and she was born ten years after.

No way would chewy have left Hans behind, he would have looked for the body first. The ship also came from low down.

The theory about him Rey being secretly good would work if Hans was alive as well.

pieceofpurplesky · 01/01/2016 01:05

Rey had solo's mannerisms and spoke wookie so there must be some connection. I think the brother/sister thing could be the answer with Han not knowing she existed and Luke guiding him to find her and the falcon.
I think Ren is good. He does say about the pull of the light being strong. He is finishing Vader's work to bring balance to the force by destroying the empire ... This would answer some of the holes in the plot. Han understood that as he needed to kill his father to ensure he was believed as a bad guy. He sensed the force in Finn - Finn knows nothing of his family ... Maybe ren does?

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 01/01/2016 01:17

the force and finn, snoake said just as finn broke his programming that there 'was a disturbance in the force' this is before it becomes apparent rey can use it. as well, finn broke the training he's had the brainwashing he's had since he was a baby , he couldn't kill those villagers, he wouldn't even though all he'd ever known was how to follow orders. i believe kylo ren felt it too which is why he noticed him on the planet but he was so consumed with getting what he wanted he paid it little mind

spillyobeans · 01/01/2016 01:44

I definitely dont think han will be back, think harrison ford said he didnt want to make another

spillyobeans · 01/01/2016 01:46

I dont buy ren being good, why would he try and kill rey finn and han. I think hes just a messed up young adult who has a strop on (very much like young anakin) and isolises vader blindly

sashh · 01/01/2016 04:42

OK so who spotted Daniel Craig?

When Rey has the flash back type thing you hear Yoda's voice but also a mash up of Ewan McGreggor and Alec Guinesse's voices saying 'use the force'.

All of the original three actors are signed up for the next film.

Anyone remember Rea Slonae?

StrictlyMumDancing · 01/01/2016 09:00

DH and I figured out who Daniel Craig was as soon as we found out he'd made a small appearance! And Simon Pegg.

Ren knew about 'the girl', we think it was him who dumped her on Jakku as part of his light side/dark side conflict. He's meant to be around 30 in the film, late teens when he joined the Knights of Ren (and destroyed things in that flashback). Unfortunately Adam Driver and Ren's actions make him look and seem like a stroppy teenager.

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 01/01/2016 11:13

Who was Simon Pegg?! I saw his name in the credits but couldn't figure out who he was.

spill I agree with you about Ren - although I'm certain there's going to be a lot of light/dark anguish for him before the end of the series!

StrictlyMumDancing · 01/01/2016 11:17

Simon Pegg is the one who Rey trades her scavenged stuff with for portions.

BalloonSlayer · 01/01/2016 11:36

When Rey is old enough she is sent to train with Luke

but when Luke Skywalker is mentioned she says she thought he was a myth!

and you can't say "well they made her forget him with a Jedi mind trick" - they are only supposed to work on weak-minded people.

DanaBarrett · 01/01/2016 11:44

Imo Rey can only really be Luke's. I can't see any other options. She was sent to Jakku under protection in the same way Luke was sent to Tatooine and Leia to the Organas. Finn being a Calrisian would bring back a second generation friendship. Doesn't explain how he's au fait with the force though.

Oh, unless she's Leia and Po's.....
