Moments in films that make you CRINGE

I watched Cocktail last night for....reasons mostly involving Bryan Brown please don't judge me

The scene where Tom Cruise makes an entire bar of people listen to him wang on about cocktails in poem form forced me to hide behind a cushion as I was cringing so much. PARTICULARLY when he said the word "snazzy" in what I assume is meant to be a posh English accent Hmm at which point I had to leave the room.

Hit me with your other cringe moments in film!

Mademan I've watched this although I think I turned it off before the end. Dire, dire film and terrible acting, I was left with optic splinters.

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 25/11/2015 21:22

Anything with Ricky Gervais in is a total cringefest, Night at the museum, The Muppets most wanted, The invention of lying...

Pretty woman - dear lord. Singing Prince in the bath...just no!

Hold the press, Jupiter Ascending is on in the background whilst I type and Sean Bean has just said "Bees can sense royalty"...(face palm)

MrsJayy · 25/11/2015 21:25

Yeah Ricky gervais is cringey on everything he is just David brent

Lweji · 25/11/2015 21:25

Poor Sean Bean. Does he die on that too?

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 25/11/2015 21:29

YY MrsJayy he is. He's a one trick pony who is milking the hollywood cash cow for his retirement.

So far so good Lweji but he is of course playing a wrong'un.

imwithspud · 25/11/2015 21:34

That bit in HP and the deathly hallows just after Ron storms off and Harry and hermione do a random waltz in the tent... What was all that about??

MadeMan · 25/11/2015 21:36

Sean Bean was best as 006 in Goldeneye; mind you, that's the only thing I've watched him in.

Trills · 25/11/2015 21:38

clearly someone in a script meeting had the dubious brainwave of hooker-turns-princess via a lot of shopping, instruction in table manners and a spot of opera

Isn't it a variation on Pygmalion / My Fair Lady?

MrsJayy · 25/11/2015 21:39

Did sharpe ever get killed i cant remember seeing a last series

Lweji · 25/11/2015 21:39

I used to watch Sean Bean in Sharpe.
I have a weak spot for him , and I couldn't shake it even after he went fat.

Lweji · 25/11/2015 21:41

But, Trills, Eliza didn't supposedly shag her tutor. Not until he fell in love with her.
Another dodgy one was Gigi. She was being raised to be a mistress. Nice. Although at the time it probably worked out better than getting married.

MrsJayy · 25/11/2015 21:46

Sharpe was hubba hubba Grin

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 25/11/2015 21:48

Shit, I've never seen Gigi but heard it ia a "classic"...sounds vile.

BTW Re Jupiter Ascending...Channing Tatum (insert George Takei voice here) "Oh my"

Sorry for derailing. Back to cringe...

MadeMan · 25/11/2015 21:55

"Channing Tatum"

That always seems to me like it's an anagram, or as though it must be the actor's name spelt backwards or something.

MrsJayy · 25/11/2015 22:00

I dont understand channing Tatum he looks like a nobbily potato and he just doesnt do much

Lweji · 25/11/2015 22:01

With modern eyes, this bit of Gigi is truly cringy. He sounds like a perv.

(I always think that Channing Tatum should be a woman. Weird name.)

MrsJayy · 25/11/2015 22:03

I watched End of days the other night but Arnie crying about his murdered wife and dd? Was just awful , a good a story with Gabriel byrne as the sexiest satan ever and Arnie was just shit

SydneyCarton · 25/11/2015 22:13

Don Cheadle's atrocious "Cockney" accent in Ocean's Eleven - it is buttock-clenchingly awful. I imagine Lennie James drunkenly watching that scene and cursing George Clooney for not thinking of him Smile

laylabelle · 25/11/2015 22:17

Grease and the flying car

GhettoFabulous · 25/11/2015 22:17

The dialogue in End of Days appeared to be cobbled together from half a dozen other, better films.

I had the leave the room watching the disco dancing bit in Pride.

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 25/11/2015 22:19

Channing Tato is not my usual crush at all, just today...must be the full moon.

NotTheSpiceOfLife · 25/11/2015 22:22

You must be ovulating Rhubarb Wink

MadeMan · 25/11/2015 22:24

"I always think that Channing Tatum should be a woman. Weird name."

Is it maybe because of Stockard Channing? Also a weird name.

RhubarbRhubarbRhubarb · 25/11/2015 22:24

Grease and the flying car
^^this.

Keanu Reeves in 'Bram Stokers Dracula' - his english accent was eye wateringly bad...actually Gary Oldman was carrying everyone in that.

Lweji · 25/11/2015 22:28

Probably.
